  1. Hi All (The experts and old birds),

Can I ask what brand of Vanilla Essence do u use? I tried the one from Phoon Huat, but, end up my HB say got some weird taste... It could be my baking skill (Or the lack of it :D). Just wondering if there is any highly raved brands that I could get.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi guys, im running out of space in my display case so im thinking of adding extra glass shelving. Anyone have any lobang on where i could get glass shelving cut to my custom dimensions? Preferable location would be in the east. thaks in advance.

    Hi Zax13,

There's this shop at Bt. Merah Crtl, just beside POSB bank that has this service. U can bring your sample of Glass shelf and the pple there can cut to your prefered size for you. I paid ard $5/pc for a 30x30 dimension. If u walk ard the area, there's actually a few shops that provide this service. But then, its's not in East side tho.

    HTHs. :D

  3. Hi yc_mc,

Yap i did call them, they came to my place and show me the stuffs. Most likely will close the deal with them. I m thinking whether shld I install a additional lockset in the event that they got to dismantle it, send for repair and no replacement set for the time being!!! What's yr views on this thought?

    Hmm,

You see hor, if they dismantle the set and there's no replacement, then sure die liao. Coz when I see the installation, there's alot of holes! Then anyone can open my door liao. But then, the warranty card states that there will be one-to-one replacement during the period of warranty. So, since it's stated in black & white, I suppose should be no issues... Unless the company close down.. ~_~ Which hopefully not.

For this case, if installing another lock oso will not help matters liao. Right not?

Anyway, u interested in which model?

  4. hi yc_mw, any feedback on yr bimeteric locks?

    Hi blackcar,

I've installed on monday. So far so good. As in no rejects during entry. Very happy with the lock at this moment. No more fumbling ard for my keys. :D

The installation was good. As in their installation guy did the patching nicely. Tried their best to use the nearest paint to cover the patching. No complaints bout their service at all. Juz have to cross my finger that this lock can last me many many years down the road...

Did you call them or go down to their showroom for the demo?

  5. hi, so u getting from them at $700? or $750. Have u mentioned to them abt the mythbuster thingy?

    Hi Blackcar,

I getting the 750 one at $700 coz 1 of my friend also decide to get it in the end. So, my installation is end of this month. Yeap! I told them bout the Mythbuster video, so they did a demo for me, and it shows that it can't work at all. So, I'm quite convinced of the technology part. Anyway, after MS showed me the demo, I also went to samsung, they also showed me that it's not possible to use photostated fingerprint to gain entry with the fingerprint lock. :P

  6. Hmm looks like the same thing (at least in terms of appearance and functions), but mine is from China. warranty is by the shop. Found its manual in another website: http://www.msmfg.com.sg/images/DIY-3398%20...on%20Manual.pdf

Heh! Thanks for your advise :) The keyhole is inside the handle.. the set comes with an alan key to open the cover.. dun really know how to explain in words... check out blackcar's link.. hopefully wont malfunction on us.. haha!

    Hi melt,

I am also installing Adel fingerprint lock this month end, but I'm purchasing it from MS MFG, the website that u provided. I also saw the lock that you purchased from SIm Lim, but that one if I didn't remember wrongly, it's not a mortise lock. It's something like a normal lock with fingerprint function. Can u confirm? Btw, I have confirmed a purchase of E7F4 from MS. Anyone has experience using it? Quite looking forward to the installation on my new home. :D

  7. Revive this thread abit... How about those i**** that let their super wet laundry drip down de??? I tried going upstairs to tell them. But, after successfully telling them the 1st time, subsequently when I go up & ring their doorbell, they simple refuse to open their door lor!!! Really pisses me OFF!

How har? Anyone has any solutions for me... Sometimes really feel like spraying their clothes with my 'sai zui' ... That's how fed-up i am lor.

  8. :D try out baking recipes and follow the steps and the amt of ingredients and most likely can come out nice cookies. in fact cookies look easy to do but u need to know how, if not they will be burnt easily.

u hv to put at 2nd level of the rack. usually the temp is lower compare to baking cakes and the time to bake do not need to be too long.

eg. if recipe says bake 20mins, you put timer to 15mins and start to observe. if by 18mins, it achieve a light golden yellow color, its mostly ready. if u want to be sure, u juz use a baking testing needle to poke it. if it comes out clean, its ready. if not, u need to put a while more.

if its cooked at light golden yellow, n u can accept it or like it, you can take out the cookies.

but if you need to make it look a bit more golden brown, u juz need to turn up the heat, eg. from 150deg c to 180 or 200deg c for abt 30sec to 45sec and it will brown the top abit. and then quickly turn off the heat and open the oven door and bring out the cookies. this is for looks. (this is known as flush up the temp)

and to quickly use a spoon and fork to bring your cookies to the cookie metal rack for cooling. don't leave it in the baking pan as heat is still in the pan and it will burn the bottom of the cookies.

how to diy cookie rack instead of buy those ready made:

    1) use a rack with the size slightly bigger than your baking pan (which is not use to bake the cookie as its still vy hot)

    2) put the rack over the baking pan

    3) put the cookies on top of the rack and leave it to cool

for baking food, eg. if u hv cheese on top of bake rice (eg only), and you want it to have a bit of golden brown, use a gd blow torch and with quick sweeping motion, burn the top portion abit and it will brown abit. but DO BE VERY VERY CAREFUL when u handle blow torch coz you don't want to burn down the hse. put your food with nothing surrounding it or things that can easily caught fire coz the blow torch flame can easily spread the fire to other items or melt other items if they r too near (eg. melt your plastic ware that is near to where u use the blow torch). other than careful usage, blow torch can be a gd tool to use.

alternatively, eg. if u do meringue, to make the top brown (juz like professional pastry chef at hotel or pastry that comes from hotel or restaurant), u can use your oven to flush the temp as per the above method. if not, can use blow torch also can.

as for your thermometer, do buy from professional bakery stores as they will not bring in items that don't work. i don't compromise buying my baking equipments from elsewhere.

    hope the above helps.

    Hi Leen,

I'm also a newbie in baking. However, during the renovation of our house, i did not put into consideration a build-in oven, hence now I have to make do with those stand-alone ones. My question is, can you recommend me a stand-alone oven that is good for cookies & pastries? Thanks!

  9. OK thanks for ALL the valuable advise, so anyone OWN the biometric did the test? Simple test will be using photo copy yr thumb print. Anyone?

I'm arranging for their sales consultant to show me a demo regarding the photocopy fingerprint thingy this week or the coming week (Depending on my schedule). Maybe you can ask them to show u as well, if you're interested. I will also post the demo findings after their consultant meet me.

  10. oh no bro.. Just a word of advice..

personally i wont recommend to by from sm small scale supplier..

cos sm of them maybe hit&run biz.. no offence...

y not consider a reputable brand? they will hv better service support & spare parts in stock.

if i tell u my story of tt lousy biometric i bought 1yr+ ago.. u will cry for me....

im totally skeptical & will only go for big names for reliability

& i make sure they r prominent player in d mkt & hv gd service support.

ps im nt here to slam & promote any brand but its personal experience.

    Hi hi,

Care to share your experience? Sounds scary... For this lock that I'm interested in, they've actually done a few major projects and that includes the Sands IR. So, I'm not really afraid of em being a hit & run. Honestly, that was one of my concerns too. Maybe can share with us your horrifying experience and brand of the lock if possible?

  11. go to www.youtube.com

search mythbusters finger print door locks (shown on discovery channel)

    and enjoy the show!!!

    Hi maCe,

Great to see you in here. :D

The one that u're talking about is it on the mythbusters using photocopied thumbprint & gaining access?

  12. Interesting, $100 per set or $50? If getting 2 locks from them? I presume warranty is only one year?

Hi hi, I think is $100 off for 2 locks, so that means $50 per lock lor. If you really wanna buy, than let me know, ok? Coz I hope to install by end of June. The more people the merrier, than think can ask for better discount liao.

Yep, the warranty is one year.

  13. Hi hi guys,

I'm oso interested in getting a biometric lock. Been looking at this model. The shop told me that it's a US Brand, anyone installed before? Because they're the Sole Distributor, so the price that they quoted me is only $750 inclusive of installation (Which they tell me is only for the promotion until June). I've seen their demo set at their office, really looks quite nice. The sales person told me that if buying 2 locks at one time, got additonal discount of $100. Anyone interested to buy together, than we can save together... :D

    http://www.msmfg.com.sg/

    I'm considering their E7F4 model.

  14. Anyone knows where to get Duck Mould Killa? Can't seem to find it anywhere liao. Called J&J, they told me that Mr. Muscle have replaced Duck Mould... But, just find that Mr. Muscle is not as good as Duck Mould... Or any good alternatives that i should try to kill all the moulds lurking ard my nest? ^^
