  1. Hi all, need some expert advise here. My reno for my 'new' resale EM will start soon. But my unit is a corner 'corridor end' unit and the previous owner has already bought from HDB the 'access area' outside but till now they did not do up anything to that 'little' area outside. I intend to 'close up' that area by installing windows/grilles and make that area as part of my house and shift my main door further upfront. My question is, do I still need to inform HDB for approval to shift my main door entrance since that area has already been bought? Secondly, I've got the electrical meter box right beside my current main door. Since I want to close up that access area, is it compulsary that I shift the electical box further upfront somewhere beside my neighbour's? I look at the other corner neighbours' who had the area closed up, some had their electric box outside and some seems to have their's still in their 'closed' area(as I didn't see theirs outside)...so i'm a bit puzzled here..If I need to shift that electrical box, who should I approach? HDB or SP power? Many thanks in advance!!
  2. Hi all, I'm seriously considering A2Z for my reno project as their quote is the reasonable and covers all that I need to do. But the issue is, I dont see them in the list of HDB approved contractor list!!
  3. Hi BK, is yours a new flat or resale? Coz what I know, recess area buying option only applies to those older hdb flats.
  4. Another thing bothering me...why do some contractor say staircase railing have to be replaced when do re-tiling for staircase and some say can be retained? The thing is, my current railing is full stainless-steel and it'll such a waste if it had to be replaced... Thought of doing glass but simply too ex for my budget
  5. Thanks guys so I can say for around 5K re-wiring is including downlights(with bulbs)/power points/switches and scv addnl points for whole EM...?
  6. Hi adidaem, thanks for ur pointers. Yah I didn't thought of that. for kitchen and front/back balcony i'll intend to use homo and outdoor tiles respectively. just worried laminates not suitable for big space area such as first floor living/dining and utility area. Another question I have, what is the estimate cost of doing re-wiring of whole EM unit? Does it include alectrical points/switches as well? cheers..
  7. Dear fellow friends, Is it advisable to do overlay with laminate flooring for the whole of 1st floor coz I always thought laminate are normally for bedrooms only. Main flooring are supposed to kilat-kilat type rite? Unless laminate got shiny2 finish? hmmm...
  8. Thanks for the feedbacks guys...keep it coming. Keeping my fingers crossed for now..
  9. Hi guys, need your help or advise here please!! I've just got a EM, corner unit with recess area which I really love but I've got a big big headache. After all calculations done, i'm left with only around 40K++ to do renovations + buying accessories eg lights & taps/hood&hob etc...which i intend to buy at JB. Now the issue is, I have quite a bit to do with that budget which I listed below, . full living area including ceiling currently covered with wallpaper which have to be removed before paintjob(will contractor charge for this??) . intend to shift main door to front of recess area and fully cover up recess corridor area. . hack 2 walls: 1) to merge recess area and utility room as dining area and 2) part of wall seperating living & kitchen for open concept with breakfast/bartop counter. . install aluminium grilles for main door and aluminuim grilles/sliding windows for recess area cover-up at parapet. . hacking of existing sliding windows at balcony and install wrought iron or aluminuim grill for open balcony concept. . re-tiling of living area & staircase with homogeneous and recess area/balcony with outdoor tiles. . basic overhaul of all 3 tiolets need to do. . hacking of existing kitchen cabinet and re-do cabinet due to its old/worn condition. . doing a simple L-box/false ceiling for living area . doing a simple feature wall + TV console for living area. . revarnishing of all 3 bedrooms existing parquet flooring. . The unit has a 6month old mitsubishi inverter aircon which I intend to re-use as its still spanking new. . Is it compulsory to do whole house re-wiring for resale EM? Simply put, im a 'poor' fella wanting to have a nice house for my family.. So I'm really hoping you guys could give or recommend any reno contractors which you know are having good/attractive packages which covers part of my list(if all the better ;p) at a reasonable package price so I can do all these but still within my stated budget... I know it sounds crazy but I've read somewhere that someone did quite a lot on his EM reno at total of around 35-40K only... Hope i can achieve the same.. Thanks in advance guys!!
