  1. Went shopping at Song Cho today to check out the infamous "chicken brand" dish rack...I am seriously shocked at the prices!

The top pic cost abt $400, and the below pic cost abt $270. Both have rust-free warranty, the differences between the two dish racks:

    (1) The more exp one is of stronger and better quality

    (2) The more exp one makes better use of the space as the rack is flushed to the wall, where else the cheaper one has some space in between rack and wall

The $400 dish rack is out of stock FYI :jawdrop: ... I am planning to check out Hoe Kee. Any idea what are their pricing like? Quality wise comparable?

Song Cho items are of good quality.... Maybe should spent a bit more for the long run. IMHO.

  2. Hi I just emailed them asking for after sales warranty for the grohe items. They told me to check with the manufacturer myself! Such an unfriendly reply.

Yah... So you can understand how I feel when I am chasing for my undelivered items... The frustration and anxiety...

  3. Hello, is there any warranty if we buy from insani?

I think so but how do you claim for your warranty since the company is in Germany and you might have to pay for the shipping cost.

if you are referring to shipping, i think DHL covers only to a certain percentage of the purchase value. If you are referring to the coverage for faulty item, then might be more tricky but this is the risk of buying online.

At least the company refund me my purchase after a long ding dong-ing when i didnt receive my items...

  4. Went to song cho the other day and bought a new stainless steel rack for the toilet. My wifey like the ample space available to put her stuffs.

  5. Went to airport the other day and saw this Philip hue light bulb in one of the electronic store that allows you to control the color of your bulbs using your hp wirelessly ..... Quite impress as it range from white to warm light... This mean that you can achieve any color spectrum that you like, more choice... However, the starter pack is expensive... Decision decision...

  10. Hi guys, sorry for the late response. Spent the better half of yesterday trying to solve some of the plumbing/drainage issues. You see, the water from our washing machine decided to come up our kitchen sink as well as out from underneath kitchen cabinets. What a disaster. Jimmy better find a way to fix this problem.

Bro how big you want? Haha. 40 inch already big for our MBR tv console, any bigger and the weight can't be supported. But ya you're right, under normal circumstances the bigger the better!

    pm-ed!

The box up seems to take up a lot of space. How big is your driver and btw how does the heat dissipate from the driver? Thanks!

Thanks for the nice comment enigma! :good: Yes, space was definitely a big factor when we decided upon the unit. It looks bigger than it actually is because of the camera bah.

thanks for the support ya! glad to hear from you. Actually it doesn't really matter when the OpenNet guys come IMO, cos the cabling that they run is quite independent of the other electricals. This is unless of course you lay the cables in the false ceiling like we did, then the opennet guys will have to come in before the false ceiling is patched up.

to be safe, get them to come towards the end when your most of the major electrical stuff has already been done. That way OpenNet won't get in the way of your electrician's work. But, do confirm way in advance where you intend the Opennet point to be and let your electrician know. Also, in order to figure out where you want to put the OpenNet Optical Network Terminal (ONT) you may want to consider where you want to place your router, switch etc.

I'll be posting about the aircon trunking in a bit. Stay tuned! :sport-smiley-018:

Thank you very much kim76! :good::good:

Oh my wife also did a lot of planning - was a joint effort. Looks like it's all me cos I'm the only one posting. I asked her to make a guest appearance and post on the blog but she shy :bleah:

I will PM when I'm a bit freer regarding a rough breakdown. I'm afraid I can't give a detailed breakdown though!

When are you getting your keys? Sengkang also?

hI MHB, sure. It's a Korean brand called deHUB - you can find the link on taobao below:

    http://dehub.tmall.com/?spm=a220o.1000855.w5001-2633380222.2.KjXDjr&&&&&&scene=taobao_shop

It is definitely strong! Sometimes so strong that I have problems trying to take it out :good:

Separately, thanks for the kind comment. Btw do you have pictures of yours? I also very curious to see the same concept applied elsewhere.

    Cheers~

Hi fal681. Our feature wall is built on an existing wall, so it was made purely by carpentry, cost us about 2.1 k thereabouts.

Hi boonfin, you can find our cement screed tile from Soon Bee Huat at No. 3A Toh Guan Road East

    :D

    Hi vicx,

Thank you for the link. Have started to take the plunge now... Hehe... However, I already got my shower gel holder and holes had been drilled last week... 😔

  11. Hi vicx,

May I know what is the brand of the towel bar and hangar that you used in your bathroom?

I am particularly impressed by the toiletries holder as I tried a few brands but they could not hd the weight of the shower gel.

Btw, nice work on your toilets, we do have the same idea of using the sewing machine legs as the vanity 😀..... I like your bedroom as well, nicely done up and very spacious...

  12. In less than a week since the carpentry discussion, the carpentry is almost installed. Lull period after CNY so carpenter very free can concentrate on my project? :jammin:

  13. The only thing which took place this week was the installation of windows. We decided to sub this job out so we were sourcing around for quotes for white powder coated aluminium sliding and casement windows. As tiling would be commencing soon, we were in a bit of a hurry to have them installed. Most of the windows contractor we spoke to could not start with a few days' notice, but one was very responsive and eager. His pricing was reasonably low too, given that he is the boss of his own factory. A quick search online produced 2-3 posts by people who have used his services. They were all satisfied customers.

Here's a photo of the end results. There is a mark on the glass panes which says "Made in United Arab Emirates". The boss said he will get his men to come clean off all the marks, including some black stuff on the frames. We shall wait and see.

White powder coated aluminium sliding and casement windows with clear glass. The frames are lighter than what is installed in my current 27-year-old flat, but apparently this is pretty standard these days. The other option is to pay about $800-1K more for the heavier frames (as quoted by Alan).

Apart from this, I saw that the new wooden door frames have been delivered. Alan updated me that tiling will commence mid next week. We intend to be present, of course. That's it for now.

    Photo12-12-13124400PM_zps3461273b.jpg

Hacked off the existing metal door frames as they were of uneven height.

    Hi inthechouse,

Can PM me your window contact? Is the product in good quality? TIA
