yes of cos there are regulations. cooking can only be confined in the kitchen itself. u can, of cos, hiong, but then I doubt city gas people will lay the gas piping to your living room, as they know it is against the regulation

just wondering, if you are planning to shift the kitchen into living room, then what will u put in your original kitchen? since all kitchen cabinets are already in the living room.

if you dont mind the small space, u can put the dry kitchen in living room. BUT, nowadays, the BTO flat are so small, it is really not a good idea to put it this way. it may look nice for a couple of years, but once you have your family living together e.g. kids, elders, it is really not feasible.

most probably they are not the direct person to apply the permit, hence, the charge.

its a bit high, but also, no information on ur side. e.g. what tiles u choose, toilet fittings brands etc.

hi joe, the costing outside now is very messy. but it should range between 10-12 dollars psf inclusive of tiles material.

because ur house involves hacking and demolishing, you would need a RRC, or registered renovation contractor. and the RRC will do all the wet works. the most u can do is, u coordinate the carpentry works yourself. that might save a bit. 

but for ur house to bring down to 40k, is a bit difficult. maybe 43-44k, as u dont provide a floorplan.

it depends on what extend the renovation works is done. if its retiling whole unit, then best is move out for that period of time. cos tiling works are the most noisy, and often stretches for a handful of days continuously

once tiles pop up, it is best to redo all, including the base cement. and further more, so many areas in ur house have tiles popping. so, just bear with it, and one shot do all.

sadly to say, 25 year old tiles, most of the warehouse will not carry the stock anymore. unless ur tile is those kind of plain colour, maybe still can find.

Normally cement flooring will have hairline cracks. This is due to vement drying thus those cracks will form.

if I were u, I will check and see if my house is going to undergo any HIP soon. if not, it is best to hack, although this will cost more, but personally, I don't feel very safe with overlaying of tiles, especially in areas where it is always exposed to water

very vague... u need to know ur house area, and then the cost of the marble itself.. and if u have existing skirting, u must first hack away. all these involve cost...

1. ask ur previous owner where they bought their tiles, and go back to buy there.

2. go down to tiles shop and compare those tiles till u get one similar ones.

the only thing u can do is to hack out those piece of cracked tiles and replace them with new tile. will get dirty/dusty

some taps can turn on hot and cold water. example, taps in hotels. thus, that tap will need 2 pipes (one to hot, one to cold).

for ur contractor to quote 'cold only', it means that they will only supply material and connect the cold pipe. if ur tap is connected to the heater and can run hot water, then extra piping has to be installed to link the hot water to ur tap, and it will be more expensive.
