  1. Interesting read below.. Not sure how many Renotalkers here have actually read this... ;)

I'm not sure how many Renotalkers here have actually read this #allsingaporestuff article that has been doing rounds on Facebook, allegedly about a renovation conman named Loy Chuang Yee, director of renovation company Decor Creative Construction Pte Ltd... And I say 'allegedly' although the person who shared his experience on #allsingaporestuff seems to be genuine.. He even has a police report to show for it! :jawdrop: Apparently this renovation conman cheated 2 families of a staggering SGD50,000... Really shocking and sad..

Anyway I'm sharing it here for all to read and to help spread awareness in our Renotalk community of such despicable scum... And hope by doing so that many new Renotalkers can avoid unnecessary heartache during what should be a happy renovation journey for them!! :) For more information you can access the actual news site by clicking here.

    @ALPHAEV7 RINNAI OVEN CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

Just a while back on 24th Sep, 4.41PM, fellow Renotalker @alphaev7 issued an innocent challenge to me that I brought up to my dearest CFO... And that's where it all started... Actually the poor fella only posted 'hi leonjenna, What Oven are you using? Is it the Rinnai one? How is it?". Wahahahaha... :D

Ok you know what, I think for once I will really let the pictures speak for themselves... ;)

    RINNAI OVEN IN ACTION!

BEFORE (like those slimming commercials hahahaha)

    gallery_54206_7_51909.jpg

    and AFTER!

    I BRING TO YOU...

RINNAI-OVEN-BAKED GARLIC MILK WHOLE CHICKEN WITH CARROTS, POTATOES & MUSHROOMS TOPPED OFF WITH SAGE

    gallery_54206_7_401217.jpg

As I mentioned before, if the taste of the food is in any way an indicator of how good the oven is, I have to say this is one SUPER DELICIOUS OVEN!!! :dribble: Even the chicken breast meat was moist and wahhhhh.. I really wish I can eat it again soon. *SLURP* ;)

CLOSE UP OF #GRAFUNKT CIRCUS DISH USED AS PLANTERS

Following some emails asking of close-ups of my #Grafunkt circus dish in my living area, here it is!! Hopefully will be able to plant some mint.. dill.. thyme.. parley.. basil.. etc etc... :notti:

    gallery_54206_8_36786.jpg

    Anyway that's all for today!!

The haze seems to be back with a vengence these few days, so reminder to wear your N95 mask once the 24-hr PSI reading hits 100 and above & hydrate yourself well! Take care everyone!

  2. Hi LJW!

I read somewhere you don't like warm or cool lights? You blast the house with all white light the head is gonna get dizzy at night...you can try a floor lamp or some other form or warm lighting as well. For me i cant really sit at the sofa and feeling cosy and romantic with white lights as it kinda keeps my mind in alert state.

Hope all in well and the variation order kept at minimum!

    B.

Hi B! :P Yeah for our scandinavian theme we followed closely to the bright-bright-look using white lights... :P Hehehe.. But ok lei so far CFO & I not dizzy at night wahahaha :D But we don't turn on all the living area lights at the same time definitely! Usually we will just turn on 1 or 2 rows.. :) All is well indeed and my variation order is coming!!! *fingers crossed* :)

Your place is looking real good... Ended up, i also got my blinds from Jimmy Textiles too.. Hopefully they can rush out in time next week for me, how long did your curtain took to install after you order?

Thanks binzz for your kind commentssss! Hahaha.. I hope I managed to help in some way with the blog post on #JimmyTextiles.. :good: Ok, after I ordered at their shop & paid deposit, still have to settle on a date for them to come down to do site measurement, after which they gotta go back to do the fabric sewing etc, before settling on a final date for curtain/blind installation!! :) Hmmmm from the date of the site measurement to the date of installation was about 2 weeks.. But that's also because I wasn't in a hurry and didn't chase them.. Could be faster if you have a more flexible schedule!! Hope all is well on your end binzz! :D

Can I ask what brand of fans are you using for you house?

Seems nice and the design is good too. :D

Hi Mr Marvel fan AKA Ken82! Now I will forever remember that about you. Wahahaha... :D My living area uses the Elmark Aeronamic 56" fan, whereas all my bedrooms are using the 44" KDK baby fan.. All bought from Tampoi Lighting House in Johor Bahru.. :) See Post#292!

may i know the reason for putting up exhaust fans in both your bathroom?

how much does the exhaust fan cost and the installation charges?

Wahahahaha zen_zen... My reason for putting exhaust fans in both bathrooms is just so that... "No one else's business will become my business when I have to smell it"...

Ok in case I tried too hard to come up with a smart quote & left everyone scratching their heads... Basically to remove all unwanted smells after all bathroom-related activities.. ;) I bought my exhaust fans from Choo Chiang Marketing Pte Ltd (located in some godsaken-ulu-place in woodlands if I remember correctly) and they cost SGD61 each. We collected on the spot at their warehouse so I'm not sure if they have any transportation service/ fees... *shrug* :dunno: After which, we got #PoshHome to supply & install an acrylic panel at an additional cost of SGD290 each.. And not forgetting the new electrical point tapping onto our main bathroom light switch & labour to install the exhaust fans themselves at SGD60 each.. :PDid I hear someone say hole in the pocket? ;)

The dining area looks really good...me like....The living looks bare at present, but I'm sure u will theme it up once u r more settled :)

Meanwhile, I be awaiting for the pictures of ur bedroom...I think hdb mbr is too small to create that airy bright scandi feel...I really hope to see how ur ID can work miracles on this shortcoming...

Taken note PTopaz! Haven't blogged much about my Master Bedroom because it's really nothing much.. :P Stay tuned!

  3. BEFORE I BEGIN,

HERE'S WISHING ALL OUR RENOTALK MUSLIM BRUDDERS & SISTERS, A VERY BELATED SELAMAT HARI RAYA HAJI!!

And that includes you too #Mr&MrsDFMuscle... ;)

While CFO is cooking her brains out with her Biosafety Coordinator Course notes, I will sit beside her and offer her my moral support & quietly blog on our baby Solid Oak Dining Table.. ;)

    RENOVATION TOUCHING UP!

Let's see, I am skimming through the WhatsApp group photos with #CalvinTan & #Edgar... There were some minor painting touch-ups, paint stain clean-ups, small little bit of silicon re-application around my sideboard & shoe cabinet... And that's all!! :D Hahahaha I didn't realise that categorising it would make it sound so trivial! But eh, I'm really not kidding... CFO & I combed through the house quite thoroughly and I'm actually very pleasantly surprised by the (lack-of) touching up to do! Maybe the pleasant surprise can be attributed to my initial expectation that there will be a lot of touching up to be done... *shrug* Heh heh.. :notti:

    THE MUCH HERALDED HANDING-OVER.

The handing over of keys was a little bit un-ceremonious because #Edgar had to rush off to another site.. I had dreamt there would be fireworks and confetti, with tears flowing aplenty, followed by a 10 minute-long thank you speech from me to the entire #PoshHome team that helped out in our memorable Leon & Jenna Reno Experience as we all sipped expensive cocktails and... AHEM, News Flash; only #Edgar was there to pass us our house keys ok! Wahahaha... :D So much for this big hoo-ha on this 'handing-over' event... SHEESH!

BUT HEY, I got my house keys back eh? *wink wink* ;)

    MORE PHOTOS ON DINING AREA!!

My dearest CFO & I finally pieced together our white-and-wheat-coloured Wish Bone chairs together with our baby Solid Oak Dining Table!! Yummy yummy colour combination!!

Oh, do take note that I have painstakingly tuned the photo colour to be more representative of the actual colour tones albeit using a smaller photo format.. :P

    gallery_54206_8_66098.jpg

    MORE PHOTOS ON LIVING AREA!!

Our fabric sofa, coffee table(s), TV console & planter dish finally have a fixed place in the house!! (it goes without saying that I was super-ngiao about the way they were arranged hehehe) Here they are!! At the same time do help me to decide which curtain-orientation is more suitable lei.. because CFO & I can't make up our minds...

    gallery_54206_8_303176.jpg

Front profile: Notice that we also bought a white cordless telephone for our home phone line.. :)

    gallery_54206_8_571086.jpg

Angled profile: With the curtains pulled apart & bound by the cloth strips to allow more natural light in...

    gallery_54206_8_494400.jpg

Angled profile again: This time curtains are let down and allowed to be drifting freely... I'm a bit more inclined to this look actually... What do the rest of you think? Which one looks nicer?? :)

PASTEL BLUE BIRCH WALL CLOCK IS FINALLY UP!

    gallery_54206_8_235452.jpg

@yuna82, as mentioned before we actually used the 3M (3.6kg loading type) metal plate & hook variant to put up our wall clock! :) We followed the instructions found behind the packaging which said to let the 3M hook adhere to the wall surface for 1 hour FREE FROM ANY LOAD first.. It has been quite a long time and nothing has fallen off! Haha.. :good: Hmm upon seeing this photo, mental note to stop adding more pastel colours to the living/ dining area colour palette... Lest it looks too wacko. Wahahaha...

EH, MY CFO SLEEP LIAO! BO JIO! :D

Wahahaha... Aiya I better go and sleep now too... And here's hoping everyone had a refreshing long weekend & are ready to do battle at work tomorrow!!!RAWR!!

    Peace out.. zz

  4. Hi,

May I check how long does your wooden alarm clock last? I put 6AAA batteries and less than 1 week is flat... zzz

Yeah we experienced the same! The block clock is really a (battery juice) sucker. Wahahaha... Anyway CFO had this amazing idea to place it above our bed-head & plug it into the wall socket at the side of our master wardrobe! :D See photo below! One thing to note though, the block clock is like super bright at night.. :P

    gallery_54206_10_110468.jpg

Love yr doors! tot got to use those glossy paint for doors? R u using nippon matt paint which is meant for walls?

Thanks fantasy! :) My doors are not glossy at all lei.. Anyway come to think about it, glossy surfaces are not very suitable for my theme in my opinion... *shrug* Haha..

Just went taka today and the mop is really $50 bucks... With additional 10% off for members .. U can get mr muscleman to go and buy it...

I was there for ages spending $$$ away...argh ... Got poisoned by this...but Holding back my purchase for the mop system.... $288.... But looks very convenient and there is no need to squeeze dry the mop with your hands .... And the mop is huge!!! This means less effort to mop...... Hahah .. I have 2 more days to consider ...

Thanks for your recommendation bianzi! :) I went down to help #MrDFMuscle to buy the #Bona Spray Mop yesterday! REALLY ONLY $50 OMG. Bugis BHG cheated me of $21.70. @#$%^&* Wahahahaha... To all other Renotalkers, today (6th Oct 2014) is the last day to grab this offer at Takashimaya, so hurry now while stocks last.. ;)

  5. Hello! Thanks for doing a review on the Bona spray mop.. I am so intrigued by it and will purchase it for my new home too! Recently I keep wishing that theres a mop that doesn't require me to lug the pail around and this is like a god sent! I will probably get in from takashimaya this weekend during their additional 10% off sale.

Good morning RLB, no problem at all! Glad I helped!

Nice I chose grey as well. But mine is medium Grey and I had Matt. Is yours glossy

Hi bianzi hehehe ours same theme ma... :P My fabric is not glossy.. :)

  6. CURTAINS ARE UP!! HEHE.

CFO did some research and we finally settled on #JimmyTextiles on recommendation of her 2nd-sister!! We consulted the amazing #CalvinTan on the best curtain colour-combination for our house and he told us that the house curtains should be LIGHT-GREY and guess what? WHITE of course! :D

First and foremost, some useful quick reference information for you all below!

Useful Information for Renotalkers on #JimmyTextiles:

Address: 845 Geylang Rd, Tanjong Katong Complex, #01-03/04

    Telephone: 6745 6423

Opening hours: 11:00am to 9:30pm every day (though I think their last appt is at 9pm)

    Website: http://www.jimmytextiles.com/

    Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JimmyTextiles?fref=ts

And now, moving onto the thought-processes of our curtain purchase...

    #1) CURTAIN COLOUR CHOICE

One word of advice dearest Renotalkers; Choose your fabric colours under the lighting temperature (warm light, cool white light, daylight whtie etc) that is most similar to your house's lighting temperature... Because it makes a lot a lot a lot of difference visually! As for me, I actually whipped out my handphone and turned on the LED flashlight app (should be about daylight white) and shone the light onto the fabric while choosing... :P Wahahaha.. I think the person that attended to me also first time see such a weird customer.. :D

Anyway! The-Mr-Fabulous-#CalvinTan-from-#PoshHome actually advised us to go for the following match-up!! :)

    • LIVING/ DINING AREA: Dreamy-white day-curtains for our living/ dining area;
    • ALL 3 BEDROOMS: Light-grey night-curtains with the same dreamy-white day-curtains (for colour theme consistency)

    #2) CURTAIN FABRIC CHOICE

I really really cannot advice much on this, just keep your mind open and remember to compromise with your partner when choosing the fabric choice.. Smoothness, thickness, glossy, non-glossy, trap-dust-type, don't-trap-so-much-dust-type.... SO MANY TYPES!! :jawdrop: There are really a lot of selections to choose from.. HEHE. :)(sorry I really don't know how to help you here HAHA)

Just remember that renovation is meant to be a fun and enjoyable process.. :) HAVE FUN! :notti:

#3) CURTAIN WOODEN ROD/ METAL TRACK & CURTAIN ATTACHMENT CHOICE

One thing I've found out is that the wooden rods are actually more expensive than the metal tracks!

Also another thing about the curtain attachment is that:

    If you go for the WOODEN ROD;

    - You have slightly more curtain attachment choices (fold over velcro, ring-type etc.) whereas..

    If you go for the METAL TRACK;

    - The only curtain attachment you can use are hooks (although now it's the trend to use plastic hooks instead of the old-fashioned metal hooks)

Hmmmm.. I think I've said enough and it's really much easier to talk while referring to a photo so... HERE GOES!! :notti:

LIVING/ DINING AREA CURTAINS! (DAY CURTAINS ONLY)

For the Living/ Dining Area, CFO & I went for the white wooden rod because I so dearly wanted to complete my beloved clean scandinavian feel.. The #CalvinTan-advised dreamy white day curtains also just adds so nicely to the clean-white-minimalistic effect... Hehehe...

PICTURE OF WOODEN BRACKET FOR WOODEN ROD @ LIVING/ DINING AREA

    gallery_54206_8_65597.jpg

You will notice that the wooden bracket protrudes out and eats into my living area space.. That is not counting the fact that they are mounted on an already-protruding horizontal beam, located above the windows... AND, take note that this is only a 1-layer curtain (day curtain only)... This factor will affect my decision later on for the bedroom curtains... :dunno: Do read on for that below..

    gallery_54206_8_268126.jpg

Same picture, just taken from a different angle to show the number of wooden brackets in place.. :)

    gallery_54206_8_9858.jpg

Final outcome of the Living/ Dining Area white-day-curtain installation! :good: LOVE the outcome!!

BEDROOMS' CURTAINS! (DAY & NIGHT CURTAINS)

Like I mentioned earlier, all our bedrooms will have a set combination of Day (white) & Night (light grey) curtains. We had actually ALSO wanted to go for the white wooden pole for all our bedroom curtains, however... LUCKILY a #JimmyTextiles China worker advised us against it when he first came down to do site measurements.. He works in a 2-man team with his colleague and are super nice to us.. If you see the photo below, you will be able to see that the metal track (that we ultimately went for, for all bedrooms) are mounted on the underside of the above-mentioned horizontal beam at the windows.

    gallery_54206_8_221005.jpg

PROBLEM AVERTED: Imagine f we had gone for the wooden pole (which by design-wise, protrudes a lot more into the space of the room) for the bedrooms, and remember that we need day AND night curtains for our bedrooms? The curtains would have extended up to 7 to 10" into the space of the room... Making an otherwise already-small room, MORE PUNY THAN EVER!!! Wahahaha... So we are thankful to have met the 2 blokes & promptly treated them to ice-cold Pokka green tea... :good: Hehehe..

    gallery_54206_8_25598.jpg

Final outcome of the Bedroom light-grey-night-curtain & white-day-curtain installation!! Good effect and good fabric!!

Oh yeah, the final damage was SGD1,400 for all my entire house, inclusive of everything (installation, GST etc.)!!

Eh actually I'm having a really bad bout of allergic rhinithis (AKA sneezing non-stop due to dust & other allergens) right now, so apologies for the brief post but I think I better go and rest some right now...

See you guys again and thanks for all the sweet comments!!

  7. Woah bro, you are most right....like many other fellow Renotalk members...I only surf this forum on weekdays when in office.

This is to boost my productivity hahaha.

I also like your Heading, " Flame On"....Human Touch wor!! (I am a Marvel Fan here)

It has been a joy reading through your blog and your blog is very interesting and easy to read.

Also you also know what your readers want...Tabao Links and detailed information. :D

Keep up with your wonderful renovation journal!! (sincere fan)

Aww man!! :) Ken82! you are such a nice guy, thanks so much for leaving me such a sweet comment!!:lol::lol:

Hey I saw the mop at takashimaya . Selling at $50. Did urs come with a free cleaning solution? So does it mean when u buy this mop, u will need to use their cleaning solution

Hello bianzi! Nice to see you around again! Take note that #Bona does have a normal mop with microfibre pad WITHOUT the spray function, which might be the $50 model you saw at Takashimaya.. *shrug* :dunno: Do confirm if you did indeed happen to see the #Bona SPRAY Mop going at $50 instead of my $71.70!!

Cause I think quite a few people (including my buddy #MrDFMuscle) are aiming for that spray mop for their vinyl/ laminate/ hard wood flooring.. :) Just that once you confirm that, I will need to go and hide in a corner of my house to cry... *sob* :~But of course happy for everyone else who benefit from bianzi's discovery!! :good:

Anyway yes the box comes with a free cleaning solution contained within the longish-shaped bottle (meant to fit nicely onto the #Bona Spray Mop). This longish-container can be topped up with either the #Bona cleaner solution or other brands as well! :)

  8. HMM... I SEEM TO NOTICE THAT... Our beloved RenoTalk forum seems to become more alive during weekdays hor? More activity in the T-Blogs and private messages flying around like nobody's business... :D You all ah... Don't let your bosses catch you ah.... :P :p :P

REVIEW ON #RINNAI INNER FLAME COOKING HOB

My good buddy #MrDFMuscle asked me on my review of the #Rinnai inner flame technology the other day and I thought "There are probably others in Renotalk asking the same question too!", so here's my personal experience with the inner flame technology.. :D

Before I start on my post on the #Rinnai inner flame proper with pictures, I would like to start off with a quote from a beloved Mavel Super Hero character which is: FLAME ON!!

    gallery_54206_7_368373.jpg

Big flame mode: Went as reasonably close as my gut-less self would possibly allow, and without having my plastic phone melt in my hands :P Can see the characteristic flame pattern that arches inwards, forming a flame 'peak' that's different from conventional stoves..

    gallery_54206_7_174165.jpg

    Small flame mode :)

Well for starter's this is a beautiful product but it does take some getting used to... I say that because this inner flame is relatively hotter than the conventional stove & you will need to stir/ move your food around the pan more frequently if you don't want to chow on carbon... Water comes to a boil really really quickly!! However, after a couple of tries, CFO is getting used to this stove & all's well! :good:

Do take note that for the #Rinnai inner flame technology, the flame is seated lower-and-within the cooking hob itself, protecting the flame from being accidentally extinguished (from wind etc.); HOWEVER, it makes it horribly difficult to actually physically see if the flame is on/ extinguished (which would send my fire safety sense tingling; gas build-up), especially if you are using the small flame & have a pot sitting over the stove.. :dunno:

PHOTO OF #BLUM LADDER UNIT WITH TANDEM DRAWER PULLED OUT

TADA! :yamseng: People have been asking me for photos of the #Blum ladder unit with the tandem drawer pulled-out and so here it is! Each #BLUM intivio I6 tandem drawer can hold a max of 65kg each!! :jammin:

    gallery_54206_7_72928.jpg

    TAOBAO #17) #HANSGROHE RAIN SHOWER

    gallery_54206_9_75231.jpg

Thanks to @pinnpinn, I have only just realised that I haven't shared the link and review of my proudest TaoBao purchase - Our beloved #HansGrohe Rain Shower for our Master Bathroom. Have already mentioned before that the water pressure works like a charm in my previous post; The rain shower is also quite heavy with a perfect chrome finish.. And my biggest fear has been quelled when I did a visual check to ascertain that the insides are not rusty. :good: The #HansGrohe label & markings are also very neatly embossed onto the product, and as I was telling @pinnpinn, I'm quite sure this is the real deal!! Just that it's shipped from China and sold at their retail price instead!

    Link: http://h5.m.taobao.com/awp/core/detail.htm?id=38612287821&sid=171063ff6068a9063a7b57be3941acff&abtest=6&rn=f5831e5e1185a4ddfc1c638dd8507b6b

Take note that this is not the exact link that I bought from (the TaoBao seller that I got from doesn't sell it anymore), instead I went to search for a seller selling the same rain shower model as mine! Also made sure that the seller is rated 4 diamonds, which is not bad at all!! With that, enjoy the hyperlink folks!!

    HEHE. :D

  9. Regarding the door stopper for your bomb shelter door, have you tested whether it is able to take the full force of the door swinging open? I have the same type of stopper for 1 of my washroom doors and it doesn't feel like it can withstand the full force of a moving heavy BS door. On a sidenote, I'm not sure if drilling on the frame of the BS door is allowed. Nothing more than curiosity for the last question.

Ello looneygas! Yes, CFO & I have indeed tested it out a couple of times, "ON PURPOSE" of course.. Wahahaha.. Looks are deceiving, the door stopper looks so puny and weak, yet it is able to take the entire loading of the massive bomb shelter door swung hard towards it! :thumbs up: The door stopper does bend a little before springing back to its original shape... :)

    hi leonjenna,

What Oven are you using? Is it the Rinnai one? How is it?

Alphaev7! Yes I am using the Rinnai oven indeed! The interior is spacious enough for CFO's cooking & erm.. The door mechanism is solid. I can't give you anymore reviews right now because, honestly, when you asked this question 5 days ago, we have not even used the Rinnai Oven yet hahahaha... =x

I told CFO about your request & she said she will whip up something to try the oven out! After which I will let you know how we really feel about the oven!!!:DActually, I will only take CFO's oven review & convey it to you... As for my 'review', I can only give feedback on the food prepared by CFO, so my review will be heavily biased & politically correct for fear of getting killed by CFO. :help: Wahahaha... "If the food is not nice, I will tell you that the oven is not good... Geddit geddt?" :lol:JUST KIDDING LA. My CFO's cooking is ALWAYS great.

Don't worry about us trying out the oven just to give you a personalised review... Because I get to benefit from this experiment in a yummy-sort-of-way. ;) Cheers!

    Dear Leon,

please email me your quote at mdmlee2005@gmail.com.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us. :)

Good morning mdmjunelee2006!! ;) I have just sent it to you & honestly, it's my great pleasure to share my renovation journey with all... :)

  10. Continued...

    REVIEW OF FREE LG MICROWAVE

Sharing this here because I'm sure quite a few people have bought LG products recently from roadshows etc. and been promised a free LG microwave. (And to make things complicated, the retailer will refuse to tell you the make/model of the microwave because they are worried that by the time you collect it, they won't have enough stock & have to give you another model instead... If you don't tell me the make/model how I am supposed to know the dimensions & build my carpentry lei? Funny people...) In case you had experienced the same problem as me, wonder no more because I am sharing the dimensions/ appearance/ experience of the microwave right here for all to see & to manage your expectations.. :) But having said all these, CFO & I will still continue using it because it's manageable... :D

    gallery_54206_7_91839.jpg

    - The microwave external dimension is Depth 12" X Width 18" X Height 10"

    - Internal microwave space is quite small with the working dimensions @ Depth of Base 9" X Width of Base 10.5" X Height 6.5", so don't get your hopes up k? ;)

    - There is a internal orange light inside the microwave when it is running, but you can hardly see your food cooking because of the mirror-finish on the external face of the microwave.. This is even with the kitchen lights turned off, at night... Oh well...

    - The mirror finish is so good that you can literally use it as a mirror (e.g. For the trimming of eyebrows/ nose hair.. Popping of pimples.. Squeezing of blackheads.. And a whole lot of other disgusting stuff you wouldn't normally do in a kitchen. But now that you have a mirror in there, you can. Hahaha..)

IMPORTANT: By the way, dear readers. Do take note of the clearance needed (clearance at the top is about 1.5" & the width clearance is about 1" on each side) for the #BLUM vertical hinge mechanism when you give dimensions to your contractor/ ID for this particular kitchen carpentry piece. CFO & I didn't experience any problems because the space is just nice, but had a mini scare when trying to fit the microwave into the space.

GORGEOUS CONDIMENT HOLDER FROM BUGIS JUNCTION BHG

    gallery_54206_7_127613.jpg

Got this gorgeous scandinavian-colour-theme condiment holder from Bugis Junction BHG at $23.90!! (price as of 21st Sep 2014) Now we need nice looking condiment bottles too... Hmm... ;)

INGENIOUS BOMB SHELTER DOOR STOPPER INSTALLATION BY #POSH HOME

CFO & I had a heart-drop moment when we realised that our bomb shelter door (when opened carelessly) will wack onto our living area veneer-wrappped vertical beam shelving!! :( See picture below.

    gallery_54206_8_91388.jpg

If I swing the door any further to the right, I will wack my beloved vertical beam shelf... :~

Sigh. We had given up hope & thought it was one of those things that we have to eventually learn to live with & promised each other to be careful when opening the bomb shelter door... :( Of course we then just casually told #Edgar about this & he actually went to source for something for us... But we didn't have high hopes honestly. But then #Edgar did a miracle and found exactly what we-didn't-know-we-wanted...

He installed this ingeniously shaped door stopper for us!!! It bends at an angle & affixed to the plate at the end is a white rubber stopper!! SUCH A RELIEF! :D :D :D I love this guy. Even the colour of the rubber stopper is white & not the usual black that you can outside for conventional rubber door stoppers!!! :good:Check it out!

    Lastly, to @ajrenojourney...

I am LOL-ing at your "THE SMELL IS FROM THE HOLE IN MY POCKET THAT'S STILL BURNING TO THIS DAY. HAHA."

Thank you @ajrenojourney! Wahahaha... Your comment made me LOL too hahahaha!!

And.... That's all so far! I gotta rush off to my ACTA Course Tutorial today liao...

Take care and have a productive work day peeps!!

  11. MORE AND MORE UPDATES! CFO & I bought so many things these few days... So I suppose today will be more of a product-sharing-session if you will... ;)

If you smell smoke in the air, don't be mistaken. It's not from the haze.

THE SMELL IS FROM THE HOLE IN MY POCKET THAT'S STILL BURNING TO THIS DAY. HAHA.

:D(You don't know how long I waited to crack that joke in here. ;))

REVIEW ON #BONA SPRAY MOP (WITH #BONA LAMINATE & TILE CLEANER SOLUTION)

    gallery_54206_10_81644.jpg

CFO & I bought the #Bona Spray Mop from the Bugis Junction BHG at the time of the last post & it's time for us to give back to the Renotalk community with a review on it's usefulness! :) The #Bona Spray Mop comes at a whopping $71.70 :jawdrop: (price dated 21st Sep 2014) but so far we have been pretty pleased with the purchase. :good:

As usual, my buddy #MrDFMuscle was the one who recommended this product to me & I think it will come as no surprise to some of you Renotalkers here when I tell you that I had a hard time trying to psycho CFO to allow me to buy the #Bona Spray Mop.. Wahahahaha..

    PROS OF #Bona Spray Mop

    - Ergonomic handle & spray-squeeze-lever fits into our hands nicely & makes handling easy!

    - The mop feels very solid & doesn't creak; doesn't have plasticky-feel & can handle rough treatment

    - Benefits of having a spray-on mechanism means that we don't have to lug a bucket of water around

    - Spray-on mechanism also ensures that no water puddles are created from mopping or from spillage of the mop water bucket (main bane of laminate/vinyl floorings & the trump card I used to convince CFO of this purchase :P)

    - The #Bona microfibre pad at the base makes the push-pull action very very smooth... :)

    - The #Bona microfibre pad can be easily detached & washed separately (even in the washing machine!)

    CONS OF #Bona Spray Mop

    - Expensive lor. (still need to say meh. haha... :notti:)

    - You are basically moving the 0.85L cleaning solution around with the spray mop, so it is a tad bit heavier than conventional mops (although from my personal experience, this is negligible & the smoothness of the microfibre cloth more than compensates for the amount of force required to push & pull)

    - We used the #BONA LAMINATE & TILE CLEANER solution (be careful not to buy the wrong cleaner type for your flooring, there's another hardwood floor cleaner from #Bona) and it gets a tad bit sticky when you immediately walk on the surface after you've just mopped it. But it's no biggie because it dries right up after a couple of seconds :)

Nothing doing. Just sharing because I think they look gorgeous! And as I predict more queries of links for these 2 products.. I have shared the following below... :)

    #EUBIQ ADAPTERS BOUGHT!

CFO & I bought our #Eubiq adapters at a recent sales event by #Eubiq themselves!! There are quite a few variants of adapters.. There are various colours (black, metallic silver, white) & comes in 2 materials (metal or plastic). We actually bought from their retail store at Suntec (nearests MRT station is Promenade Station).. We bought 8x white-coloured plastic #Eubiq adapters but only took 2x British-Standard adapters back home because we are waiting for the stock of the white-coloured international-plug-compatible version to be released!! :D Here are our pictures pictures pictures!!!

#Eubiq track in the kitchen! Blue LED light comes on when it is clicked in place & energised. :)

    gallery_54206_7_118513.jpg

CFO also very cleverly bought these 4x #Eubiq track accessory acrylic hooks for use in the kitchen so that we can hang our cups etc. Each packet of hooks comes in a set of 4.

  12. MORE UPDATES TODAY! (this comes after an extensive chemical cleaning by #CalvinTan & #Edgar, now my tiles and glass surfaces are so squeaky clean!! Hehehe *squeak squeak*)

WASHING MACHINE & REFRIGERATOR ARE UP!

My LG stainless-steel-finished 416L fridge has been connected! The silly fridge is so big and bulky, not the cleverest thing to let the delivery man leave it in the middle of my living area & then for us mere mortals to heave around.. #Edgar and I experienced that first-hand. Hahaha.. Other than that peculiar heaving incident, both the fridge & the washing machine seem to be functioning just fine (fingers crossed very extremely tightly and am touching a lot of wood for this one; benefits of having a scandinavian theme is that you have a lot of wood about the place HAHA :P) for the time being, so nothing much to proclaim about :P

RINNAI INNER FLAME TEMPERED GLASS COOKING HOB INSTALLED!!

Point to note for new home owners (experienced home owners don't laugh. Hahahaha):

CityGas will disconnect your house's gas piping from the main building gas inlet pipe (you will find your gas meter missing ;)) before you start your renovation, citing safety concerns from gas leaks and incompatible hot works.. :) So... Remember to call up CityGas to reconnect your home (and reinstall the gas meter) to the main building gas inlet pipe! :D

Will need to call them to make an appointment, during which, they will also do the gas hose connection to your cooking hob.. :)(along with the fluid-balance pipe leak check & the soapy snoopy check) Always been intrigued as to why do they call it a SNOOPY check. Hmm. :dunno:

Anyway here is the picture of my tempered glass cooking hob!

60" SAMSUNG LED TV & SOUNDBAR NOW PUT UP!! (subscribed to Singtel 500Mb Entertainment Bundle)

The LATEST DEFINING MOMENT in our house renovation is the setting up of the TV and Internet access! :good: After the Singtel technician had come and gone, CFO & I both immediately hooked up our phones to the WiFi and I started scrolling through the Singtel Mio TV channels available.. Hehehe I know it's a bit 'suaku' but for us first-time home owners, it's really a heartening moment when you are doing all these things & it hits you that your house is becoming more and more like a home.

    gallery_54206_8_63165.jpg

ELMARK AERONAMIC CEILING FAN ROD SPRAY PAINTED WHITE!!

    gallery_54206_8_87444.jpg

#Edgar has very graciously helped to spray paint the 'previously-galvanised-finish' shorter ceiling fan rod into a glorious white colour!!!(can you see the rod in the picture? ;)) Hehehe.. Small little things like this make me so happy. :):):) Woohoo! I think anyone who manages to get #Edgar for their project is seriously lucky too. CFO & I were talking about it the night before and we both agree that he is a very responsible & good guy who follows up on every single thing that CFO & I point out!! :good::good::good:

    THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY!!

This weekend has been burned by ACTA course again.. (Both Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm! Can you believe it! :() Gonna meet CFO and shop around for the #Bona floor spray mop etc etc.

Anyway I hope you guys are having a much more relaxed weekend than I am... Hahaha... Ciao! :P

  13. Love the way your home decor.. I could like to check with you on how do you hang the clock on the home shelter. my clock keeps falling out… help help… thanks

Thanks so much yuna82! :) we have not hang up our clock yet but we actually planned to use the 3M sticky tape hook (the type that you can apparently remove cleanly just by pulling the tape)... Hehe.. But I heard from my dad that for these, you gotta put it up and wait for a couple of hours before hanging any kind of load on it.. Try it out! Heh Heh :P

  14. Continued...

MASTER BATHROOM ACCESSORIES ALSO MOUNTED! - Nothing very much different in process from my Common Bathroom, so just enjoy the pictures!! :D

    gallery_54206_9_41811.jpg

    - Due to space constraints, the piping for the hand spray was routed THROUGH the vanity cabinet! It also hides any unsightly water pipes from most of your view.. :)

    - Toilet brush also mounted on the wall near the toilet bowl

    - Also hor, in response to previous posts about the cramped space at the toilet bowl... CFO & I just tried to sit on the toilet bowl again just to be sure... No problem!! (trying to buay hiao bai and say that I am very slim. WAHAHAHA.)

    gallery_54206_9_47872.jpg

    - Moving on from the previous photo, the toilet roll holder (from TaoBao) for my Master Bathroom is directly opposite the toilet bowl (which is why you couldn't see it in the previous photo)... CFO & I checked and concluded that it was the only logical location left to install it, and you know what? When we went to visit one of our neighbours upstairs (she's actually one of CFO's secondary school friends), it turns out they also installed the toilet roll holder in a similar location! HAHA! DECISION VINDICATED. :good:Oooh laa laa...

    - Also seen here is our Master Bathroom towel rack (from TaoBao) & towel hook (from #HoeKee)

    gallery_54206_9_133851.jpg

And just a simple camera pan to the right to show my towel hook bar (from TaoBao) mounted behind my immaculate bathroom door...

    gallery_54206_9_75231.jpg

A look into my Master Bathroom shower area, to show the mounted corner rack (from TaoBao) being as bling as bling can be... :notti:

MAIN DOOR PAINTED WHITE! WOOHOO! - Really cannot stand the appearance anymore and I finally did it. :sport-smiley-018: Painfully torturous, agonizing, excruciating & back-breaking work. All 4 coats of it. Ladies & gentlemen, if you bump into your the painter while they are toiling away in your house, I suggest you march right out and buy a couple of ice-cold cans of Coca-Cola for them; because their job is seriously no joke.... You know what, I think I will lay off painting for a while now.... A long while that is. :bleah:

    gallery_54206_8_156296.jpg

For those who are interested in the white paint brand/ model:

    - Interior Wall: #Nippon EasyWash with Teflon (8101 White)

    - Doors: #Nippon Bodelac (9076 Matt White)

Oh ya, #CalvinTan & #Edgar have already touched up & painted the remaining wall skirtings white too... :D

OKOK! NOW GONNA HAVE TO RUSH OFF TO MEET CFO!!!

WE ARE GOING TO MUSTAFA NOW TO LOOKLOOKSEESEE KTHXBYE. *poof*

  15. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!!! So many different types of updates for this post that I can't think of an appropriate title for it!! =x All I know is that I have to update my blog... and FAST!! :jawdrop: Oh well, I think I will just make up titles for my sub sections as I go along... Heh heh.. ;)

KITCHEN PIPES PAINTED & WALL-MOUNTED KITCHEN RODS INSTALLED - As the title suggests, my kitchen-ceiling-exposed-PVC-pipes + copper gas pipe + service yard PVC pipes have been painted over! :D

    - Kitchen-ceiling-exposed-PVC pipes have been painted pale yellow to give that splash of colour to our zany kitchen! We contemplated painting it matt white to try to 'hide' the ceiling-PVC-pipe as much as possible, but figured that no amount of 'camouflage' short of boxing the whole freaking thing up is going to do anything to improve the aesthetics... So instead of hiding it, we made it even more obvious by POPPING IT!! *cue pop sound* HEHE. :)

    - Copper gas pipes painted white to blend in with the wall tiles

    - Service yard PVC pipes painted light green to have some consistency with the kitchen cabinets, and to extend the colour impression outwards towards the service yard... :)

Also, CFO & I bought the wall-mounted kitchen rods from #SongCho! Standard stainless steel rods with many different accessory modules you can buy to add-on and hang.. :) See the pictures below!!

    gallery_54206_7_76207.jpg

The service yard light green PVC pipes are standing proudly in all their glory... hehe ;)(Oooh you might be able to see my now-painted-white copper gas pipes in the background) And did I mention that my kitchen #Eubiq tracks are up? YEAH! :)

    gallery_54206_7_118541.jpg

YELLOW POP! :P From this angle, you can see the location of my wall-mounted kitchen rods that CFO & I bought from #SongCho.. :)

    gallery_54206_7_267165.jpg

    Close-up of our #SongCho wall-mounted kitchen rods

COMMON BATHROOM ACCESSORIES MOUNTED! - Haiyo, you don't know the amount of work that CFO & I put into when we were marking out the installation-locations of the bathroom accessories... SHEESH. We actually tried to simulate running through day-to-day activities within the bathroom (HAHA YES WE EVEN SAT ON THE TOILET BOWL WAHAHAHA) in order to determine the proper locations for our bathroom accessories based on our habits, arm-reach etc.. We then labelled (alphabets written on masking tape) each and every loose bathroom accessory & did the same for the wall location; So that the contractor can tally the loose bathroom accessory to the wall locations, using the alphabets... :) Tedious but ok la, quite fun. HA! :sport-smiley-004:

Photo taken from inside Common Bathroom (with door closed):

    - Glass shelf bought from #HoeKee;

  16. Hi there. I LOVE your kitchen floor tiles!! Went Hafary but its out of stock. :(

But anyway, can i check on how do you actually decide on the watts for your track lights? is 7W sufficient? how many will be good enough?

Hey adrianh4rt! THANKS SO MUCH for your kind comments!! I showed CFO your comment and she became so happy with herself!!!Wahaha.. :D I'm sorry it's out of stock now.. Hope they will restock them!

Hmm.. For the track light wattage, it really depends on your house theme... I know of industrial themes where the home owner doesn't have any ceiling lights at all, and only use track lights for illumination! If that's what you might want, then you might need to go for a higher wattage for sufficient illumination. But of course it also depends on the level of 'brightness' that you want for your house.. :) CFO & I prefer a bright-white scandinavian theme, brightly lit by ceiling downlights (#CalvinTan recommended 10W).. So for us, the track lights just provide some accent lighting on the walls to accentuate photos/ pictures etc.... With that in mind, the track light wattage should probably be below the ceiling downlight wattage..

That's just my own way of determining the track light wattage & I'm sure there are different people who do it differently!! Hope I helped!!!:)

  17. ARGHHHH SO BUSY... Packing your clothes/ files/ documents/ books/ mail for shifting over to your new place is really NO JOKE. (anyway it is quite a saddening experience also, feels like I'm leaving my parents behind lidat... :( but of course I wouldn't.. Just one of those emotionally-charged rite of passage in life I suppose..)

Sorry for the tardy updates fellas.. I really am.. :( Been so overwhelmed with the nitty gritty things.. Like IKEA trips, sourcing of light bulbs, got stomach flu & did my best impressions of the Merlion over the weekend.. yada yada.. Won't bore you with more boring details. So now what?

    So let's go.

#MINIFORMS SLOPE DINING LIGHTS UP! - First official splash of colour in the living/ dining area!! I love it. I really really love this effect.. Exactly what I imagined it to be... Together with my white ceiling beams... Omggggg..

    gallery_54206_8_136462.jpg

Oooh do you see what I see at the back ground of the picture...? :P Which brings us to the next update...

KITCHEN GLASS DOOR WOODEN VENEER-WRAP HANDLE INSTALLLED! - I love my one-of-a-kind door handle on my glass door!! The more I look at it the happier I feel... I think it really lends a boost to my living/ dining area scandinavian theme.. While also taking the 'modern-feel' out of a glass door... :good:

    gallery_54206_8_17767.jpg

From this photo angle, you can see the groove where I will slot my fingers in when opening the door. :)

MASTER WARDROBE LED STRIP LIGHTING IS UP! - Turned out better than I expected!! :good: Didn't expect the illumination to be sufficient to light up the interior of the wardrobe to this extent~!! Yeah! :jammin: #CalvinTan recommended that we go for the #Hafele motion sensor, so the LED strip lighting only turns on when we open the door... It automatically closes when the door is closed.. Satisfied and I recommend others do the same too!

    gallery_54206_10_7655.jpg

Trying to open as many wardrobe doors to show my LED strip lighting

    gallery_54206_10_47525.jpg

Close up of LED strip lighting

EXHAUST FANS FOR BATHROOMS ARE UP! - Nothing much about this other than the progress... Got 2x 8"-wide KDK exhaust fans & linked each one of them to the electrical switch for my main bathroom lights (as advised by #CalvinTan).. The result is that the exhaust fan will turn on once I turn on the bathroom light! (already checked on wattage of the exhaust fan, it's very low so no worries about wasting electricity or the bill sky-rocketing up) Also, used translucent acrylic as the backing for privacy.. :)

    gallery_54206_9_50217.jpg

Picture of installed exhaust fan in Common Bathroom

And that's all for now! Will need to blitz through even more updates after this, so stay tuned for more folks!! Until then...

SEE YA LATER ALLIGATOR. (I actually can't believe that that phrase just popped into my mind... Like, whyyy.)

  18. Hi Leon, your white doors and wall are exactly what we want! But we are finding it difficult to match the whites? What brand of white paint did you use for the wall, door, and floor corner parquet trimming? Which whites did you use? Best if you can tell us product codes? Thank!!

Hello eveready! (Strange, I just bought eveready batteries for my doorbell 30 min ago. Oh well. Hahaha..) As for choice of white paint, we specifically told #CalvinTan that we wanted a 'whitish' white.. Not bluish white and definitely not warm white... I ever read someone else's blog where they mentioned that the contractor recommended a warmer white for their also-scandinavian-themed interior, and that fellow renotalker went ahead with it only to say that she regretted later towards the end of the reno... :dunno: In my humble opinion, 'whitish' white is easier to match the colour palette too... ;) #CalvinTan definitely used the same white paint for the wall, door & wall skirtings but let me check what is the exact brand/ name/ product code for you later before letting ya know! :D Glad to help!

I Love white doors too!!! Kind of having minor regret my bedrooms door brown!!

For your bathroom, could I ask why you didn't opt for bi-fold? My 3rd bathroom is somewhat like yours so I wanted a door but ID said not practical and strongly suggested bi-fold to avoid being cramped. So the door thingy is still in a limbo

Er...looking at the door photo for the bathroom...I think I agree with your ID that bi-fold will be less cramped.

Based on photo, whoever is in the bathroom better lock door, even if just washing hands. In case someone doesn't know the bathroom is occupied and swings door open with too much force on the outside. The person standing at the vanity likely to get hit by the door.

LeonJenna's is in master room, so probably less problem for them since most likely they are the only ones using the master bathroom and they would know if the other person is in the bathroom?

Hello koori & kissgurami! (kissgurami don't regret liao move on and enjoy all the other aspects of your reno!! stay positive!! :D)

KOORI! You must have spent so much time analysing my bathroom photo! :D Wahahaha really salute you for being so spot-on. :good: You are right that the bathroom door is huge-donkey big. Like really BIG. Haha.. That reminds me of a remark that the #PoshHome tiler was telling me the other day.. He said that although the toilet was supposed to be built-to-be 'wheel-chair-friendly' (with ramp at toilet door), the toilet door is so bulky that you don't even really have space to do a 3-point turn in there.. Wahahaha.. Of course I know wheelchairs don't need to do '3-point-turns' but he was just trying to bring the point across ya? ;)

Honestly, if work hadn't been put in to paint our current bathroom doors white, it would've been extremely extremely possible that we would've changed the bathroom doors to some kind of bi-fold door... Possibly white with some kind of louver patterns!! But CFO & I haven't even found out how much is it yet.. *shrug* :dunno: Also take note if you change the bathroom door into a bi-fold type, you can't mount hooks onto the back of the bi-fold door... :)

But highly recommend changing the bathroom doors for space concerns! (if you have budget la hehe.) :D

  19. (THE REST OF THE) MORE INTERESTING UPDATES TODAY!! :P

    Hahahahaha... :D

#GRAFUNKT LIGHT GREY FABRIC SOFA ARRIVES! – YEAH!!! OUR COMFY #GRAFUNKT SOFA HAS ARRIVED!!! Woohoo! I tell you right, the other day CFO & I were so shagged from settling all the TaoBao purchases and we just sat down on the sofa for a short rest, right under our Elmark Aeronamics fan... Blowing blowing.. And before we both knew it, we were sleeping soundly liao! :P WAHAHAHA... Too comfortable already... :) Anyway the #Grafunkt delivery fellas had mixed up the order and delivered the walnut-coloured legs, which they promptly changed the next day.. :good:

The sofa delivery came a bit exposed & was not wrapped in plastic, so CFO & I jumped up and came to the rescue! Hahaha..

    gallery_54206_8_94505.jpg

Look at the nice oak pencil legs contrast against the vinyl floor!! So happy with it.. :) Oh yeah, the sofa looked like it got into a fight with Spiderman & Spiderwoman right. WAHAHAHAHA. *laugh until collapse on the floor*

FURNITURE ARRANGING SIMULATION! (FOR FUN!) – During the time period after most of our furniture have arrived, and before the spidey-interventions for our fabric sofa & before the walnut pencil legs were corrected... CFO & I got a bit cheeky & carried away. HEHE. :P We started to arrange our furniture around to get a better idea of the space & colour-combination we had in the living room! :) Took pictures from different angles for memories/ reference and here they are! :D

    gallery_54206_8_180897.jpg

Sorry my solid wood oak table is so messy. Hahaha..

    gallery_54206_8_26964.jpg

    gallery_54206_8_8271.jpg

And moving on to the last update for tonight.... *cue drum roll* :P

DINING AREA CEILING BEAMS HAVE BEEN PAINTED WHITE!! – ALRIGHTEY THEN!! :D Finished plastering & painting for my beloved ceiling beams!!! WOOHOO!!   #CalvinTan was telling us the other day, that if we had chosen to proceed with the veneer wrap for the ceiling beams, it would've looked even nicer... But then he said it would cost another SGD2,000 more. ERM. I think forget it la. Hahahaha... And here are my pearly babies!!

    gallery_54206_8_69546.jpg

That's all for tonight!! See ya'll again and enjoy your weekends fellas!!

  20. MORE INTERESTING UPDATES TODAY!! :P

INTERNAL BEDROOM/ BATHROOM DOOR PAINTING – TA DA!!!:D All my internal bathroom & bedroom doors have been painted in immaculate matt white paint!! Looks super heavenly and LOOKS LIKE IT WAS A GOOD DECISION TO PAINT IT WHITE! The painter told me that they apparently painted 4 coats of paint from morning till night… Salute them for the hard work & the pride they put in.. :)

    gallery_54206_8_64173.jpg

Doors look so super nice in putih! (‘white’ in Bahasa Melayu) Now I need to start to seriously contemplate self-painting my MAIN DOOR in putih too.. Hmmm… Oh yes, you can see the lighting effect of the track lights installed at the room passageway.. :)

    gallery_54206_9_23243.jpg

Master bathroom toilet door (not shown in earlier picture) also painted white.. I think it offers a good contrast against the stony-greyish-finish of my Master Bathroom wall tiles… :) You will probably notice that the right-hand-side of the photo is the round beauty mirror that CFO & I bought.. Also from #*** Gallery.. Hehe..

#MUUTO COFFEE TABLE SET, DLM TABLE, #GRAFUNKT CIRCUS ARE HERE! - HAHAHAHA WOOHOO! CFO & I LOVE THE MINTY GREEN OF THE #GRAFUNKT CIRCUS!! WE LOVE the ash-coloured & light-grey #Muuto coffee tables!! WE LOVE the baby pink DLM table too!! AHHHHHH!! Love love LOVE!!   Wahahahaha…

    gallery_54206_8_41280.jpg

#LIFESTORY 1.8M SOLID-WOOD OAK TABLE & #MINIFORMS SLOPE LIGHTS ARE HERE!! – Ecstatic about all these deliveries!! :D Can’t wait for my renovation to finish so I can display them nicely & see the whole house decoration take shape!!!!!! EXCITING!!

  21. You bought joven finally? I got the 25 litres.

But hor... I dunno why they install it with the brand facing inside instead! Dunno if I should raise this.. Mine is installed in the common toilet730EDC5F-2B9C-4E3D-80DF-A2C52196223A_zps

Yo bianzi! Hehe.. Looking at your photo, looks like there is a small beam on the top left-hand-side of your photo.. That, together with the location of your 2 water pipes (connected to wall) actually makes it seem like it is not practical to install the other way round; which is with the brand facing outwards.. *shrug* Anyway your current water tank orientation still allows you to see the indicator lights on the side of the water tank right? If I'm not wrong, it will be more difficult to see that if your ID had installed it with the brand facing outwards... *double shrug* hope I helped somehow...

Oh I also want to ask, where are you placing your toilet roll holder with the bowl so near the wall

Yeah this is one big headache! Install on the wall behind also cannot (no space & very difficult to turn around to reach), on the glass shower screen also cannot (no space & scared sth happen to the glass Hahaha :P), install on the vanity cabinet also cannot (no space)... In the end, we are planning to install the toilet roll holder on the wall OPPOSITE to the toilet bowl! Wahahaha... CFO & I even took turns to do role playing to "sit and reach" (not the Primary School NAPFA test version of "sit and reach", mind you.. :P).. Location good enough, can reach! :D Anyway we have a neighbour-friend who invited us over to see their house and coincidentally they also installed their toilet roll holder at the same location! Hehehe..

  22. Sheesh I am so beat right now... But the 'show' must go on & here I am once again... Hee. :)

Today I will be bringing to you other generic updates on my humble renovation!!

MASTER BATHROOM TAP INSTALLATION - The Kohler tap from TaoBao has been fixed up! :) Standard fare with good water flow.

Oh yeah, the toilet bowl is finally fixed back, which meant a bit less stress for myself whenever I want to visit my new house. Wahahaha.. I finally don't have to visit the toilet & decrease my water intake before popping over to my new house.. If you know what I mean. HAHAHA. :D

HANS GROHE RAIN SHOWER INSTALLED @ MASTER BATHROOM - Easily the most gorgeous article that I bought from TaoBao so far... *hwing hwing!!* Water pressure is great & works like a charm.. Very very satisfied with this purchase... :)

KITCHEN SINK & TAP INSTALLATION - CFO is over the moon with the kitchen flex-hose tap!!! And I am a very happy man because my dearest wife is so happy.. :) The entire tap is rust-free & feels solid when I use it; that's including the lever at the hand-held outlet. The water pressure is good too! :good: The only drawback is that we were kiasu & chose to buy the longer version... :bleah: Should have gone for the shorter variant because then, our future dish rack wouldn't have to put so high up... Luckily CFO & I are about the same height & not that short... Phew. Barely made it.

38L JOVEN ELECTRIC WATER HEATER @ SERVICE YARD - Bought this from #TapzGallery along Balestier Road... This is the energy efficient variant, which you MUST remember to ask for if you are also getting electric water heaters like myself... Unless you are prepared to pay a bomb in electricity utility bills.... Hehe... :P

Wanted to get the smaller 25L capacity but #TapzGallery didn't have stock for that already.. The smallest capacity energy-efficient model was this 38L model liao... Oh well. :dunno:

And that tops off my wonderfully productive Monday today!! :D

HOPE YOU GUYS HAD FUN!!! SLEEP TIGHT! zz I know I will... :P

  23. Hi there, really enjoyed reading your renovation experience and learned a lot along the way.

I saw before you mentioned you will do something to the windows to cover off the aluminium frames.

I didn't know you can do wood trimmings and would like to see your finished end product. I hate the ugly aluminium window frames in the living room as well but I have no solution or ideas. ID offered to paint them white for me for free, but she warned me the paint might flake or peel off in time to come (and will provide me a tin of paint to touch up in future if it happens).

So dying to see how you ended up for this:

Wood trimming for windows in white paint finish (to cover the ugly aluminum white frames where possible…)

Hi Saru! :) Thanks for follow my blog all the way till now! Hehehe... I apologise in advance that I left the job about the wood trimming for windows up hanging in the air... :( Unfortunately I don't have good news for you... :( When I got my unit keys, #CalvinTan had come down to measure the clearance for the window wood trimmings but advised against it on the spot... :( This is because there isn't much clearance for him to install the wood trimming for the top rim of the window frame... He said it could still be done, but he told me it was not worth it because it wouldn't look that nice... Plus the fact that my window frames are (THANKFULLY) in white-ish aluminium colour, and not the dark brown colour... :( Sorry again Saru... Maybe you will be able to do it for your unit... :)

    Hi Leon,

U mean u install vinyl in your bathroom floors?! The part where u stand n shower?

Hello seowleng... Oh no you are mistaken... My vinyl flooring only covers all 3 of my bedrooms, dining hall & living hall... Kitchen, service yard, household shelter & toilets are not included... :) While we are on the topic of bathroom floors, I did overlay them with hafary tiles... :D

  24. TAOBAO purchase continuation from Post#296, Post#297 & Post#298... :D(I last ended at TAOBAO #11 ASSORTED SOFA CUSHIONS, so here are the rest... ;) I have also finally fixed all the hyperlinks in the previous posts :D)

    TAOBAO #12) WISHBONE CHAIRS

    Link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=37407162671&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

    Considerations/ Discoveries/ Rants/ Advice:

CFO & I were looking for Eames chairs that were suitable for our scandinavian theme but decided they were over-used & too main stream... As such we bought 6x of these white/wheat-coloured replica wishbone chairs!! Called Y-chairs in Taobao, CFO & I are immensely happy with them! The woven fabric seat is so comfortable!! :D

TAOBAO #13) KOHLER BATHROOM ACCESSORY SET

    gallery_54206_10_22914.jpg

    Link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=40164394898&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

    Considerations/ Discoveries/ Rants/ Advice:

All accessories are chrome-plated very nicely & embossed with the words "Kohler" on them! :P Of course I think they are not genuine Kohler products.. In fact some of the accessories look EXACTLY the same as what you can find at Hoe Kee.. Just that the embossed brand name is different... Haha... Something fishy.. Heh heh... :) ANYWAY good stuff for a relatively cheap price!! Check out the link!

    TAOBAO #14) KOHLER TOWEL RING

    gallery_54206_10_9504.jpg

    Link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=37766541202&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

    Considerations/ Discoveries/ Rants/ Advice:

Bought this seperately because the earlier Kohler Bathroom Accessory Set doesn't come with a towel ring... Again, it is nicely chrome-plated & there are no signs of rust or any defect... "Kohler" brand also embossed on it... :P

    TAOBAO #15) HAND SPRAY

    gallery_54206_10_18850.jpg

    Link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=25978252421&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

    Considerations/ Discoveries/ Rants/ Advice:

First and foremost, guys this is not called a bidet spray!!! It's called a hand spray!! HEHEHE... :) Got 2x of these chromed beauties at a steal! FYI I have seen an exact model of this in a bathroom accessory shop along Balestier going for SGD80 each!!!:jawdrop: These taobao babies on the other hand, only cost me about SGD40... :notti:

    TAOBAO #16) BIRCH CLOCK

    gallery_54206_10_14527.jpg

    Link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=38271706822&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

    Considerations/ Discoveries/ Rants/ Advice:

Nothing much about this, other than us getting #CalvinTan's approval for this design... Loving the birch frame & the refreshing pastel blue!!

And that's all for this lazy Saturday evening!! This is LeonJennaWong reporting that we have cool weather today in the northern part of Singapore & I am going to turn my attention to finishing the last bits of my kiwi fruit that CFO prepared for me... See ya!! :yamseng:
