  1. I recommend you guys this lock. www.ap501.com Remember to see the video...bullet proof.
  2. I had never bought a roomba from local store. From generation 1 until the latest generation. I would say that the salesperson is right. Warranty is important if you do not know how to replace parts in roomba. I helped my friend to import a roomba 560 2 mths ago, and one of the cliff sensors does not work. It always fall over step. Do you know how to replace the cliff sensor? Where can you get the parts (sensor)? If you don't buy from local store, if your roomba is imported from overseas, Ackerman is going to charge you very high for repair cost. To the extend that the repair cost can buy a brand new roomba. They are trying to discourage you guys from importing. The repair cost is ridiculous and they are not too friendly... The new roomba is modular, the wheels, brushes, cage, holder etc are easily replaceable. But the motherboard, sensors are not easy to replace. My question is, where to get the parts? Usually they buy another roomba as spare parts...so hard to get parts in USA... You can report your problem to irobot directly. If they know that you are not living in USA, they will not entertain you, sometimes. If the roomba DOA, you need to replace a complete set, they will ask you to send the roomba back to them before they replace a new set for you. How much is the shipping back to USA? you go check it out.
  3. Ya, i think they do. They are expert.. i did mod for some ppl here for Free in the past but I thought of it...if something happen later, I am responsible for it...so I stop doing that. So far, none of them complaint, touch wood.
  4. Last time when I was using transformer, it did shorten the battery life. In theory, it doesn't as long as the output is 22.5vdc. Maybe transformer does produce variant signal that cause the charging circuit to charge at a lower vdc at times. This could be the reason. I am very sure that via transformer will consume more electricity though.
  5. Bro, the casing of the roomba also look more sturdy. The roomba is also heavier. The battery and the electronics parts are covered up. In this way, the dust and hair won't get into the PCB. This is a better design. Do you have rattling noise? Mine does not have, so it comes with better brush (2nd version). Also you should have a rubber strip to be pasted on your bumper to protect it. Although the new roomba moves v fast, when it sees obstacles 10cm away from obstacles, it will slow down and bump lightly onto it. It does not response well to thin objects like legs of chair etc...so it might get scratch easily without the rubber strip. Can DIY if you do not have Bro, I tried not to teach ppl mod the charger anymore. It is because of my previous posts, one of these guys who does not have electrical knowledge, tried to mod the charger. He placed the capacitor in the opp direction (wrong polarity) and caused a spark on the charger and get a short circuit. Scare the **** out of him. I would like to remove all my previous posts on mod charger but I can't do it...I realise that it is risky...so if you think transformer does the work, let it be. Have fun
  6. 560 comes with scheduler and lighthouse virtual wall. It can schedule to clean living room first, then go to bedroom then go back to living room for chargin. The lighthouse is doing the work. 530 is the basic model. It does not come with lighthouse but just a normal virtual wall. No scheduler as well. Other than that, they are similar.
  7. My roomba 560 and 530 arrived on Thur. The first thing i did was open up the charger. Yes, I managed to mod it. I charged the roomba and it works! The mod slightly diff from previous... This 500 series roomba is quieter as compared to 4000 series. The color and design are nicer as well. Very futuristic look. I think cleaning wise, both 500 and 4000 series are about the same. However, the lighthouse thingy is great. It finishes my living room, then go to my bedroom and went back to dock in the living room. Quite intelligent. I think this is what you pay for in the new roomba. I would think that 4000 series roomba serves the purpose of cleaning your house. It is a very good vacuum. Unless you want to try something new, if not, no point upgrading. I find that they are just vacuum cleaner, but with better features that I think we can live without it. my 2 cents...
  8. I think the rattling noise is due to the design. It will not be resolved unless they change the brush. The new robot is quieter compared to the current model. My friend in USA tried it out, and his comments are good. Not sure man, probably I have to give it a shot now. If you are sceptical about this new model, let me buy it first, I test it out, and post a review here. See if the 2nd batch is ok. Then you guys go get it. I need to tweak the power supply first....that is most important now.
  9. Ok, pm me the model of scooba you need. I will order this coming friday.
  10. I sold away all my old roombas and want to ship new models from irobot.com. Anybody interested to mass order? I will get Roomba 530 and 560. As for 570, no stock now and I heard abit of issues due to wireless command centre. I will buy from irobot or their authorised resellers only because they ship latest stock and less hassle. www.irobot.com. You look at the price there. The first batch has some issues and the 2nd batch (bugs resolved) is here. Jackson and Darren, you asked me before, so I think it is time. Juz nice for christmas If you are interested, pm me. ps: I am not familiar with the new charger so I need time to figure out how to convert it to 240V. Nothing cannot be done, it is juz a matter of time. Worst come to worst, can use a converter first.
  11. Get the Scooba 350. It is better. Trust me. The batt last longer.
  12. No...I mean I am selling what I am using now. I am not help to mass order anymore. I have a few (one for living room, 3 for bedrooms...).
  13. Guys, I am leaving Singapore for awhile due to work. If anyone of you want to buy used roomba, charger, battery accessories etc, pls pm me or email yns88@hotmail.com. I will get in touch with you. I strip and clean all roomba thoroughly. They look like new.
  14. Not all come with swivel caster wheel. irobot made alot of the fixed caster wheel. If you are "lucky", you get swivel caster wheel. You can't choose when you buy roomba from them. Recently I bought quite a few of the roomba from irobot for my friends in this forum, only those 4260 come with caster wheel. The discovery all come with fixed wheels. There are cases that swivel caster wheel do scratch the floor. In fact, your parquet will be scratched even if you walk on them...cos there is a layer of wax. bro, i just replied to the pm you sent to me. As mentioned, my mo period has over. You may wana import yourself (by reading the posts here you shld be able to do it yourself) or you can buy from gkrobots as suggested by some here. Just to share with you that if the robot reach here dead, you have to ship it back and you have to pay for the shipping. It will cost you $200+ to ship to back to irobot. I hope that helps ya Actually sage, discovery and scheduler are all the SAME! The higher end models, discovery or scheduler, come with more accesories. The more you pay, the more you get. But ask yourself whether you need them...all voice down to budget.
