Sama sama... Then you must make sure everything is Blum!
-
It's great that he offered to change. After reading about other contractors, Mr K seems like such an angel. We have a bit of an issue recently but luckily he was not confrontational and he would call right away to clarify and pacify. Regarding the drawers, the explanation given was that Blum runners cost the same as Blum metal side panels, and then fabricating those drawers are an additional cost. Somehow I have a nagging doubt about the explanation and I probably should insist they change to Blum drawers. But I'm likely to let it pass. Here is a picture of my drawers, different from the usual metal Blum drawers most get.

I hope you will get the Blum hinges. Let us know how it goes.

See, being the typical Singaporean, if what they said is really true, that giving me Blum drawers is actually cheaper than using runner tracks with carpenter-built drawers, then I don't mind not changing. Also save the hassle of changing, as all my stuff are inside drawers already. But of course, if it's not true, then I will feel being short changed. Final payment done already, but Mr K is actually quite nice, he said he can change all drawers to Blum drawers. Now I'm thinking if I should or not.

There is no response to my above query, but I'm going to try asking again, perhaps in a different manner. I was quoted Blum drawers in my renovation contract, but when renovation completed, I realized they were not Blum drawers. Upon questioning the contractors, they said the drawer runner tracks were Blum. They said building the wooden drawers plus using Blum runner tracks is actually more expensive than using the Blum drawers themselves. Is this true? Or should I insist they change all my drawers to Blum ones? I saw from most of Mr K's customers' blogs that they have the actual Blum drawers, not normal drawers run by Blum runner tracks. On a similar note, the quote also mentioned Blum casement hinges, but upon inspection yesterday, I found out they were not Blum too. They said it was a mistake and they would change all the hinges to Blum.

Hi, need advice here. I was quoted Blum drawers in my renovation contract, but when renovation completed, I realized they were not Blum drawers. Especially to Mr K customers out there, when he quoted: Provide labour tools and material to supply and install kitchen cabinets, quartz countertop, 5 Blum drawers, casement hinge Blum and soft closing. How am I to interpret this? Am I supposed to get actual Blum drawers or it's only just referring to Blum runner tracks for drawers?

Here's a picture of the rain shower. Take note of the rain shower height. I told my contractor one of us using it is more than 1.8m tall, so she should install it high enough in order for us to use it comfortably. Otherwise the rain shower is too close to the head. I was disappointed when I saw that it was installed too low (only about 10cm above the tallest person using it). She explained that the mixer height is standard (1m), and that's the highest the shower head can go because the length of the rail is fixed. I thought they could have shifted the mixer higher (e.g. to 1.2m). The standard height is not a fixed rule. Was thinking to hack the wall again to shift the mixer higher, or change to a different model of rain shower. Finally was lucky to find an extension tube for the rain shower from Amazon. Got to wait for plumber to be back from CNY break to fix it.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that. Is it going to complete soon? Is it also by the same contractor?

Thanks Annie.

Thanks! The Singapore breed is very smart and very easy to take care. Last night, he went into the dogs area on his own to sleep. The small one is a miniature pinscher, even though they look alike.

Very nice feature! Pictures were beautifully taken.

Piping is plumbing? Wow, how did you keep the costs for both plumbing and electrical down? My plumbing was 2100 (initial quote) + 1700 (top up) = 3800 and electrical was 2800 (initial quote) + 1500 (top up) = 4300.

Other images of the house through the dog.

Yes, only day curtains. I prefer to have light into the house than to block them out. Display shelf is custom made, but you can find similar ones from Ikea (expedit) and Boconcept.

To keep the dog (and dog hair) off the human sofa, a dog sofa was purchased from taobao. It was too tiny for him, but somehow he knew it was for him and managed to squeeze himself into it. This cushion was purchased from franc franc for the dogs too.

Yes, franc franc. The house is almost a franc franc showroom!

Thanks!

I guess not many are willing to sacrifice a whole room of storage space for their pets. I wanted the dogs to have more space as they may be confined for long hours. The little one is blind and pees everywhere, it's bad for the laminate floor. The mongrel is one year old and can't be trusted around furniture yet. It makes the human feel good that they have more space, but actually they would just park themselves on one spot and lay there the whole day! As for your cats, I don't think you're able to confine them using baby gate! I'm interested to see what design you come up with for the cats. Let me know!
