  1. Estella Gardens Freehold 1-bedder 657sq ft Renovated Move in condition Email collins.st7@gmail.com and I'll get my agent to contact you. Thanks.
  2. I intend to use stainless steel for worktop and bar counter. I think I am okay with scratches because that's normal. Uneven surface will be hard to swallow...
  3. Hi guys. Never done any renovation after staying in the same place for more than 3 years. The size is a petite 657 sq ft. The original plan is as follow. I would like to have the following done. The existing kitchen will still be kitchen. The existing bedroom will become living room. The wall between kitchen and new living room will be hacked. The flooring will be all homogenous tiles. The existing living room will become bedroom. I want to do wooden platform. I intend to use the existing laminate flooring that is still in good condition. The wall between bedroom and living room will be hacked. Install translucent panels (2 pcs) as divider between the two spaces. In the new bedroom, there will be a panel in the middle that can be closed when there is guest staying over. Maybe four pcs of panel. In the bathroom, the bathtub to be removed. The bathroom door will be moved to where the bathtub is. In the kitchen, redo the kitchen cabinet. Install a bar counter that has built in hobs and a sink. The counter bar must be able to sit four. I intend to move the dryer and washer into the kitchen, probably hiding inside the bar counter. The balcony will be my dog's pad. I don't intend to do any false ceiling. There is false ceiling in the kitchen currently. I would like to remove if possible. I don't intend to do any tv cabinet for the living room. I have existing solid wood console in good condition. That's about it. I appreciate any feedback on whether this is a good design, the rough guide on the costing. Any contractor or designer would like to give me a quote is good too. Thanks all.
  4. hi vowsh. are you using the 'amazon'? i am laying on coming monday. the previous owner of my apartment lay laminate over marble. he rented out the apartment and the tenant did not take care. there are many bubbles and even a few hole. i am not sure what is the brand he used, he got it from ikea so i suppose it is either kronotex or pergo. other than this, i think there is no problem laying on existing flooring. i have been staying here for a year and the condition did not deteriorate. i think just be very careful with water. laminate floor is very scratch resistant though. i will report back after i change to the amazon series. cheers.
  5. Got a fresh quote for 'stainless steel' for item 2. The price is $380. What is the pros and cons of using stainless steel vs aluminium? Is the quote okay?
  6. Hi. I purchased a second hand condo single bedroom unit. As the tiles in the kitchen has deteriorated quite badly (I think ceramic wall tiles are being used as floor tiles!), I intend to do re-tiling. I have got two quotations, one a general contractor, the other a contractor/designer, both quoted me the same price for the following items: 1) $1000 - overlay of kitchen floor tiles (area 80 square feet) with homogenous tiles 30cm x 30cm from china $2.80 each piece. Pricing is for material and workmanship 2) $1000 - cover the strip of wall above the table-top and under the cabinet with aluminium (length is about 370cm). Pricing is for material and workmanship. aluminium to be attached to a wood board before being installed onto the wall. I would like to know whether the above quotation is reasonable. I only want to do the above two items, maybe they quote me higher because of that? Also, is using tempered glass for item (2) a good option? They quoted me the same price for tempered glass ($1000). They said they will spray paint on one side of the glass before installing them onto the wall. Will the paint deteriorate or discolor after some time? I did light cooking very often. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to water-proofing and re-tile only the area where the bath tub was? I do not have left-over marble slabs to be used to paste on the surrounding walls. So, I need to get new tiles or other materials to cover the wall. I worry it is going to be ugly and people are able to tell right away that a bath tub is removed. I worry this may affect the selling or rental price in future when I am not staying here anymore. Yes. I want to build the glass from wall to wall, running the full length of the existing bath tub. Is it better to go to a renovation company or straight to a contractor for my case? Also, if I take up a renovate package for the entire bathroom, including vanity, toilet, shower, how much it generally costs?
  8. I needed advice from you guys about removing my bathtub and put a shower cubicle in its place. My bathroom flooring and wall are made of marble. I intend to remove the bath tub, hack down the concrete and marble that is holding the bath tub, and construct a shower cubicle in its place. I don't intend to reno any other parts of the bathroom. The shower cubicle can be glass or any clear material. I understand that the area where the bath tub used to sit will need to be covered with new flooring and this will not match with the existing flooring. That is why I intend to use a different type of material, for example, mosaic that looks like stone. Any ideas? My marble is beige with brown random patterns. I am clueless about how much this kind of work will entail. I am staying in a 1 bedroom condo. People who have done it before please give me some guidelines (like how long it takes, costs, what to watch out for, etc). Also, if any good contractor to recommend please pm me. Thanks for any comment, help.
