    hello stranger! *lol*

your house looking great and pinterest-ish. Great work there.

    yea.. vinilex 5000.
I read from elsewhere, if the wall is treated/painted with wall sealer, the paint sticks better. super regret never force my ID to paint all the wall with wallsealer before painting. That is also why momento painters say it's a MUST to paint wall sealer before painting the momento.

Gonna paint that patch on Saturday, getting lazy to do all these touch up now aday.
I think some day i might just give up and get all my walls to white. (low maintaince! and no one can notice any patches!) :dunno:

hi @bykaraanne, yes i follow the instructions as per the hooks. I leave it overnight before hooking/hanging stuffs.
i'm using 3m photoframe hook for my clock and it's working fine (hopefully) for now.

which sandpaper grit do you use, i want to sand the area and do a proper paintjob.
I have also emailed/contacted 3M and told them that their products damage my walls. No reply, no response, no calls.

I use the yellow block by 3M also I think, from Selffix. My walls are almost always fixed perfectly with that and the putty (yellow lid from selffix).

But mine has never been this bad peeling.

i buy my 3M products mostly via Qoo10 so they’ve always helped...

  3. My 3M products have both worked and failed, though the success rate is higher than failure rate. I have not had such bad peeling though, but small ones in areas without the clean removing tape.

I just use putty to patch, sandpaper down, then repaint. In most circumstances it looks perfectly ok.

With 3M products I found that it’s crucial to wait 24 hours regardless of weight bearing and pressing it really hard for 2 minutes during installation before using.

that said, failure rate is about 1 in every 5 items for me. But the second time I paste everything seems ok (touch wood). If you suspect it’s 3M problem, email them, they will repay you strips.

haha ok! will try and take some pics of the island.

i think i did mention in your blog last time i feel you have a very good layout, because yours seem so much bigger than mine. my kitchen is just so ridiculously small i cant even  then again i realize now my living room is rather big for a 3R coz i have a 210cm sofa + a side table + chair + bookcase aligned on one side and it still seems ok. my mom told me she went to a relative's 3R BTO and there wasnt any space for a coffee table. but whats the point of a big living room when my kitchen is barely 2m long? hardly any space to move.

im also selling some of my old books and plates, on carousell haha. what are you selling away?

Ya, yours is the bomb shelter in lr layout, lr become bigger but wasted space makes kitchen v small. My kitchen anyway only slightly bigger than yours, but Yours is legit quite small. My parents new place at Punggol also v small kitchen, similar layout to yours.

What about the rest of your home?

I’m selling the bookcase, foyer table, footstool and perhaps ghost armchair in my living room so that I can change to a sofa bed... It’s 218cm, so I know abit cray. We’ve been doing a lot of measuring, but it will open up more seating and also maybe clean up the look a bit, less cluttered.

i alre ordered a Super slim shoe cabinet from Tb to replace my current one. Haha.

Because you hacked away one room also right? Your LR looks even bigger and more spacious lor. I worked hard to keep the second room but also means with the corridor, my LR is so small and limited orientation (ie ONE KIND ONLY)

girl, your home looks amazing then and now! looks more lived in now but it looks super comfy! i like the idea of cookbooks on the kitchen shelf. do they get greasy since its so close to your cooker?

i also noticed you have a fiddle leaf fig plant! i reckon its real? i hope you have some tips for me. i bought 2 from IKEA and they were dropping leaves like mad the first few days i brought them home. now some of the bottom leaves are still turning brown gradually nearer to the stem. im watering them only once a week now and also misting the leaves often and they seem to be doing better. i did notice some white specks and im not sure whether they're just dust or spider mites/mealybugs. keeping my black thumbs crossed they will somehow survive. i read they will also freak out when moved around  they seem so hardy but quite finicky tbh.

btw i adore your ghost chairs! regret choosing eames for mine and now thinking of these plastic ghost stools haha

    nLyY829.jpg

Not sure if this helps, but my plant is in a normal pot (no self-watering) and I water it a little about once every two days. My fiddle leaf surprisingly surviving! Also growing new leaves.

Drop a few is normal imo, I just continue watering lor. I wipe down the leaves when I clean/dust. But I don’t mist it!

  6. With all the decor it really is picture perfect! But as a 2 year homeowner who started out with decor pieces abound (Pinterest cray), I can tell you your husband is unfortunately right lol.

    nice = dust

less stuff = less nice = easier to clean lol

now every time I buy a new piece of decor or furniture I will think twice because it means one more thing to dust :~ it gets dirty pretty much Everyday in my place, especially being a smaller home (3R). I dust one day can tell the next day already dusty, floors even more so.

But if you don’t mind the upkeep, your place is really gorgeous! Totally will be repinned like mad on Pinterest. ;) and I highly suspect those silly Pinterest perfect angmoh homes, they all live in places with no dust one, if not how?!!

  7. That’s unfortunate! Never thought that there could be a possibility of Contractors installing fake Caesarstone! What!!

But I was told that although Caesarstone is well-respected for quality, some Contractors found that certain colours stained easily. Odd. I always thought Quartz were virtually indestructible from day-to-day use.

Hope your issues get rectified ASAP!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share how it has been after staying here for more than 3 years ....

    • all my carpentry and hinges are in excellent/almost new condition still, nothing has warped nor fell apart all thanks to Contractor J
    • all my furnitures from Taobao are still in excellent condition

but the only problem I've had are the water faucets (taps) and the pipes linked to it. Just two weeks ago I had to get a plumber in to change away all the taps in the masterbed room and common room toilet , as well as kitchen tap (not from taobao but this is the 2nd time I'm changing). The ones I bought from Taobao were all rusty and plumber told me the pipes were going to burst, water that was coming out are all rusty because of the horrible quality 'stainless steel' from China. He changed everything for me to an 100% Italian faucet, about $150 each and mentioned I will be able to use them for at least the next 5 years.

Moral of the story - you can buy everything for your house from Taobao EXCEPT their so claimed stainless steel faucets or anything that touches water because they are definitely a nightmare :bangwall:

Hope my experience will be a valuable one for everyone setting their homes!

(I've cleared my inbox by the way!)

How do you know they need changing? Did you see the rust coming out of the water, or the pipes were already leaking?

    Thanks!

Ooh I thought u meant chio gold spray hahahha. Bought the clear Rustoleum last weekend! Wasn't sure of which gold spray to get so in the end didn't buy any.

The Amazon cabinet handles look good and cheap! Even cheaper than those I got off taobao :jawdrop:. If only i've known about these earlier! Feeling cheated now..

It’s ok, I’m sure as long as they work it’d be great! :) at least you have options. I’m asking Edmund next year if I can change some stuff maybe.

Hey! Enjoyed your photos and posts about your home.

One question - is the plant next to your sofa real? I've been struggling to keep my plants alive; partly because limited sun the plants are getting from where I placed them, but mostly I am just horrible with plants.

If it's fake, can I know where you get it from and how much? I've only seen semi-decent ones from IKEA and it's quite costly!

Yes! It’s real. This plant is very sturdy and easy to keep alive, though it has much less leaves now than it did when I bought it.

For fake fiddle-leaf trees, the Ikea ones are your easiest bet, but yes they’re not that nice and pricey. Maybe can try TB?

oh man, thanks for sharing. we prefer fire for cooking but yes maintenance is an issue. wondering if frequent maintenance will make it better. if only they sell 1 gas burner and 1 or 2 induction burner.

now not sure if should go for rennai gas hob then.

My Bosch gas hob is easy to clean, almost all flat surface, and easily removable... you can consider these kind.
