hmm, the seller texted the hubs a list of things she was looking to sell. It included appliances (which i think is ok), right down to the fittings on the house like the ceiling/wall mounted fans and curtains.. :dunno:

i will double check with my agent on this and browse through my otp later :good:

thanks for the detailed explanation! I will look through thru the OTP when I get home later.

there is a chance she might remove WC cos she was saying it is almost brand new

Sorry, I was surprised because... for most people the "labour cost" to remove, move and re-install these things would already be a bit boh hua.

feels a bit like she's trying to smoke you. But am glad the other peeps here could give you better advice.

    TAOBAO ORDER 3 (UNBOXED)

Updating a bit on some items we received from the third taobao order..

    (1)  Rose Gold Clock - Rating: 4.5/5

Superbly cheap for a wall clock and very light (maybe because it's made of cardboard?). It looks true to photos from TB, just that it feels somewhat plasticky in person. You can't really tell from a distance though. Deducted 0.5 marks as there is slight unevenness on the colouring of some numbers. Worth purchasing if you are looking for smth cheap and don't mind that it's not super high quality.

    (2)  Cotton Cushion Covers - Rating: 5/5

Material is the coaser/thicker cotton and the colours look nice! Sewing quality is good as well. Planning on getting more from this seller  :sport-smiley-018:

    (3)  Cushioned Stool - Rating: 5/5

Colour is more green than mint and material of the cushion is slightly coarse. Assembly is easy - we fixed it up while watching Train to Busan at home (awesome show by the way!). Bin did most of the work while King helped to tighten the screws at the end to ensure it is sturdy. Seat is quite firm but very slightly lumpy looking. Overall will still recommend as it costs only $14! Very good value for money. :good:

... Also, the metal pull-out drawers also arrived in good condition. Yay!

    FINALLY

With all the needed kitchen appliances and other fixtures delivered, we are finally ready to discuss the finer details of carpentry with Contractor E! Meanwhile, we've still got to decide on the ceiling fan for our living room. Did some research today but can't yet decide on one which comes without a light kit, looks nice and is economical. The search continues!

Another thing to discuss with Contractor E tomorrow would be the countertop for our floating shelf in the master toilet. As it will be susceptible to water splashes from using the sink, E had previously suggested using either glass top or kompacplus.

We're leaning towards using white coloured glass but worry that it might have a greenish tinge. Another option we'd like to consider is marble-look solid surface (or something similar) but he had dissuaded us from using solid surface for reasons I can't quite remember. Shall ask him again when we meet him!

Very green one u go see our toilet that time!! I had to make him change it to black :(

Wha so decisive! Impressive leh. Most people take ages to decide on laminates hahah. We've got two booklets of laminates with us, will go see if can find that page  :deal:

Is called bo bian. My husband not around, just me only. His work also cannot pick up phone one, so all I choose -.-

anyway I just follow Pinterest one my entire kitchen!

How is he proposing to do now? Won't lah, Edmund is quuuuuite steady. If he not confident I don't think he will propose you do.

Aiyoo @bykaraanne don't sad k, your home (and kitchen!) is already so so gorgeous. I'm still a little sad that it wasn't your place which E brought us to see see for workmanship haha. He def still keeps you close to his heart (lol). Heard him mention you a few times before already!

Oh and do you still recall what shade of white your laminates are, or how you picked that particular shade of white? The husband is of no help where it comes to colours and I'm going mad trying to decide if the cabinets will turn out too white or yellowish in contrast to our subway backsplash. Not sure if there really isn't the perfect shade of white out there or if I'm just picky zzz

My house not so much carpentry mah! Haha.

I don't remember lor. Cus I chose it in 5 minutes. I don't even know what brand it is. Haha.

I just showed them the Pinterest picture and carpenter + Edmund helped me see which white it is. Just stark white glossy laminate white, with no glitter. It's on those page with only white and black one no other laminate samples hahahaha.

    Sure!

Haha. Don't jelly jelly. Your house is gorgeous and easier to clean ma~~  At first he also dissuaded us the idea because of the ABS trimming issue and think he is a bit confuse with Shaker style and those Victorian kind, which cannot be laminated according to him.

Later we point to him the difference and he also found a way to solve the trimming issue. It's about 30% more on top of the carpentry cost.

Wah **** sad. Why he boh help me. I recommend so many people to him he also bo help me :(

excited to see ur houses... hai.

Not as neat at the back means? Do you have pics of how it looked like previously?

i'll just be doing something like this. Just a shelf directly above the washer, for folding clothes/ Ironing... and another shelf above that for detergent and iron.

    http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/rooms/laundry/give-your-laundry-a-lift-1364302524678/

Not going to do too high since it will interfere with the HDB clothes rack.

The other side will be the pantry and also where my cleaning stuff will go.  Still thinking of what to use, Ivar racks or just a kitchen trolley and how to isolate cleaning stuff from pantry dry food too.

Tried to find but cant :( open storage just needs more to be organized lor.

Btw, just an FYI, IKEA discontinued some of their ALGOT range. So for e.g. If you use their 80cm range, a lot of the clothes hanging stuff don't have only left metal shelves... so be sure to go ask first :)

A small update to my guest bath. Added a small diffuser and a flower deco on top of a piece of scrap pine wood I had left over from the DIY bench.

Also added a bird on the WC to help whistle if there is any difficulty

A bird to look at birds

Added some DIY artwork using silver sequins and grey ribbons (Idea from livelovediy blog) but color match to my bathroom.

The WC side looks less bare now.

  10. Hey Yakult!

just wanted to pop in and say this because I tried it yesterday and it was amazing.

i have the 3M stainless steel cleaner for my solid tops so I use that for my fridge etc too. Yesterday, I sprayed that cleaner on all surfaces of my kitchen stainless steel sink, left it overnight. In the morning my sink was like brand new. Didn't scrub at all, used minimal product just sprayed a thin layer.

I shall try your baking soda + salt method. Or maybe vinegar & melamine sponge. Vinegar maybe can uh...cos we use that to wash our bunnies' pee pans hahaha.

    Wow! No kidding!

I bought the stainless steel cleaner and tried it over the weekend. Very effective. I even used whatever was left on the cloth to wipe the tap and fridge... hahah... now I've got a really clean kitchen.

But have yet to be able to find the Magic countertop spray though. Will try another of those household item store this weekend. :yeah:

    Think only selffix have :)

Thanks for the tip! So interesting to be using a stainless steel cleaner on a solid surface top! Will try it this weekend. :yeah:

    Hey Steffie!

just wanted to drop in and tell you this because last week a dreaded mooncake box stained my counter pink. Like a 3-inch size stain?

I left the magic countertop spray foam on it overnight, cleaned it up with melamine sponge and it's gone. Like magic literally.

just wanted to tell u this in case it works for you. Remember to try in an inconspicuous area first since yours is not the same color as mine. But seriously MAGIC!

    Hi @bykaraanne !

Thank you so much for sharing your home journey with us! I absolutely ADORE your home! So much so that I actually created an account to tell you this. I love this theme of decor so much for years, but it is so difficult to describe, explain or get down to making it happen. It is no where near popular in the SG scene and items are difficult and not cheap to obtain. But I am so glad you went ahead with it!

I started with tons of photos with this theme, but becuz it's difficult and expensive to source for furniture and furnishings, my new home has slowly evolved slightly to modern Scandinavian. Not that I dislike it (its still pretty cool to me) but my first choice has always been modern European/baroque. Its the first time I hear someone describe it as Little London! Keep up the good work! (you can check out south African decor too- everywhere I went to at cape town looked amazing, abit of vintage and modern European)

Once again, beautiful home Kara and great taste you have there!

Thank you so much! This means a lot to me. Especially that you created an account just to tell me! :)

You're right - it's so hard to make things happen when it comes to this theme in Singapore.

Things have changed a little bit since I last updated the blog, and I now own a tulip table and a watercolor painting instead of the clunky black table. :)

again, thanks so much! I'm sure your house is also gorgeous. Honestly Scandinavian is super pretty too when done right!

Thanks for the recommendation. Can most certainly do with a good cleaner and seal. Quite a bother to maintain.

Have you have asked them to return to polish it?

Nope! Mine is light colored though, so probably isn't as obvious as yours, but the 3M works. :)

what i do is I use the 3M magic sponge (melamine sponge) and a natural spray to clean the top (Method or Mrs Meyer's) after cooking, then dry it with a microfiber cloth. I cook almost daily so my solid top does get used a lot.

Then weekly I use the magic countertop cleaner or 3M stainless steel cleaner to seal it and it will look v shiny. Haha.

hello there bykaraane, would u be able to share the TB link of your hansgrohe rainshower?

i bought kohler rainshower from TB, thinking to get hansgrohe to compare the quality.

Apparently the link does not work? If its been taken down, do u still have the TB store that i can check out other models?

I don't know the store anymore, sorry. Didn't order myself and used Buy For Me that time.

Hi @bykaraanne sorry if this has been asked to death but i can't seem to find it in your 30+(!!!) pages of threads!

How big is the showerhead and the pressure's been fine for you? I'm afraid of being too greedy and over-reaching by getting a head too large to find the supposed rain shower in a miserable dribble! Also, is this the Raindance range or the Croma range? Thanks so much! :D

Hmm my shower head is about 23cm? Not too sure. The water pressure is like rain lor, just like it's supposed to be.

Dont know my rainshower is what range leh. Sorry!
