  1. Fans and lights are up. Well most of them.... as we purchased most of the lightings from Taobao, there are some pieces that we missed out. Our brickwall is up as well! We find the positions of the sockets really strange. Those with brickwalls, are your sockets beside your brackets too? Kitchen Corridor Bedroom WIW -c
  2. Fan Purchases After reading up so much about the cost savings when purchasing fans from JB. We decided to take the risk and went across the borders to purchase our ceiling fans. Our initial intention was to purchase an Aerontron for the living room and Vento Fino for the WIW. But ended up getting a DEKA ceiling fan for the mbr as well. Aerontron RM1400 Vento RM490 DEKA RM380 We intend to spray paint the metal portions of the DEKA fan white and also to cover the unsightly wordings on the fan. On top of the fan purchases, we also bought some track lights to be installed in the living area. Not the cheapest in terms of price, but wanted to save the hassle of searching for lights locally.
  3. Tile Selection Tile selection has to be the toughest problem we faced in our renovation thus far. We did our tile shopping a week prior to getting our keys. We visited SBH and Hafary numerous times in search of our ideal floor tiles. However, the tiles that we shortlisted were either low on stocks or way beyond our budget. Thankfully, we chanced upon HupKiong’s advert on Squarerooms and found the tiles that fits both our theme and budget. The shower tiles were a mixture from Hafary, SBH and Whitehorse. We got our toilet floor tiles steal. Whitehorse was having clearance for their tiles and it was going at $0.40 per piece. The bf and I just had to grab all of the remaining 80 pieces. Those looking for tiles for a small area can drop by to have a look as they only have limited stocks for their clearance tiles. - c
  4. As the bf mentioned, we are at the halfway mark of our renovation but only started our blog recently. This is largely so as I am super impatient and CANNOT wait to see the transformation of each blog. So I thought it would be better if I waited till we had more pictures and spam them in renotalk. But this proved to be wrong as my goldfish memory fails me. =/ So anyway, some time back, we received news from S&A that our hacking permit was approved. We had planned to go up the next day to clear the items we had in the house and also take some pictures before the hacking began. To our pleasant surprise, S&A's workers had already started works on the place. Super fast and furious! Kitchen The area looks so much brighter after the walls are down. Master bedroom - c
  5. Yup! It is. However, as our yard is facing the corridor, our kitchen does not get enough sunlight and appears really dark if we had not hacked off the kitchen wall. ">
  6. Our mood board. Living Area Flooring - Uniform wood tiles throughout the unit to create a seamless and spacious look. Brickwall - One of the must haves in our list. Kitchen We will be hacking off the walls of our kitchen and create an island parallel to the store room wall while constructing a row of tall cabinets along the storeroom wall. The island will double up as our dining area. We will also be hacking off the door to our yard to make it more spacious. We are only going to do bottom cabinets on one side of our kitchen wall using white laminates with kompacplus countertop, and install additional wood shelving for storage. Master Bedroom We will be combining bedroom2 and the mbr to make room for our WIW. We will seal up the original door to the mbr and construct a WIW that leads to the toilet. Raw poles for our wardrobe instead of the usual pole system. Toilets Overlay the entire MBR toilet and shower area for the common toilet. Construct niche for shampoo storage in MBR toilet. Floating wood vanity top. Really love the simple and sleek look of these vanities. Realise we have a ton of demolition works. =/
  7. Hi all! I have been a silent reader for the longest time and have gathered many ideas from the various T-blogs for my renovation. We have received the keys to our place in October and hope to share our humble renovation journey with all of you. Like the title suggests, the theme for our place slants towards minimal scandi. We wanted a cosy place to call our own and felt that the scandinavian theme best resonates with us. First up! Our floor plan...
