Hi, Mine's a resale flat. Originally my living room floor has a raised parquet platform. It was dismantled. There's a cement floor underneath. To save money, we decided to overlay it with tiles. After renovation, I tested some tiles using a screwdriver. For some, the corners of the tile sounds hollow but the center is not. My ID says as long as center not hollow, it's ok. Is this true? Now about half a yr later, I tested and found that for some, the center of the tile is hollow. Is it a problem now? Should I call my ID to tell him there's something wrong with my tiles? Thanks

hi ppl, I finally managed to trace the problem of the sewage smell. We suspected it's the A contractor told us to cover the drainage holes and observe to make sure it's really from the drainage holes. Well, the smell is still there so in the end we realise it's the toilet bowl. Should have done it earlier. Asked my ID to get the contractor to re-install the toilet bowl. Seems that they didn't do a good job the 1st time round. Can't believe this since I thought it's a routine job. Anyway, it's finally ok now.

Hi, sorry for the late update. Was busy with my baby ... I tried to remove 1 side of the tubes (5 of them) and it still trips. However, after that I changed my on/off switch to a new one. Now with this change, no more tripping, even after I placed back all the tubes! So I thought it was the switch's problem. But recently, it trip again when my wife went to switch off the light :-( However, nowadays it happens rarely. Previously, it happened rather frequently. So now just use as normal, most likely the switch got some problem, but maybe somewhere else too ... but too lazy to check thoroughly..

Hi, anyone know how to dispose left-over paint? The prev owner left them in the electric meter closet. Should be water based alhtough some may be oil-based. Easy way is to put downstairs. However is there a more environmentally friendly solution? I read on the internet to pour paint onto saw dust or kitten little let it dry, then dispose. any other way? Thanks

Hi, Did my reno but my wife is not too happy abt the final layout. We are considering of hacking the walk-in wardrobe, old wall and erect a new wall. Workmanship of prev ID was not good so we are looking for contractors. Any recommendation? Should be one that's good in this kind of stuff. Our neighbour recommended one but we feel that the price is a bit high: 1. Supply n remove walk-in wardrobe , partition , sliding door and remove rubbish $1800 2. Supply and hack a new door way with construct a new door frame and door (with vanishing ) and remove of hard rock $2500 3. Supply and install partition ( to existing layout ) with painting of partition $2400 4. Apply for Reno permit $300 Remark : quotation exclude repair parquet flooring . Is this a reasonable price? Thanks!

Thanks Pelect and w7_lee, Will try it and see how it goes!

Thanks Pelect for your help. Ya, the main circuit breaker trips and the whole house has no power, except for the bomb shelter. There are 10 T8 in total and 1 switch controls all lights. I'm also thinking of removing 1 tube at a time to test. Is there other solutions?

Hi, After I moved in to my resale, I realised that my cove lightings will short circuit sometimes. However, this was left behind by the previous owner. My ID's electrician told me to change all the original 10 T8 tubes to T5 to solve the problem. He said that maybe one of the T8 is damaged. However, it seems an overkill. Changing all T8 to T5 cost $200 - 400. Plus installation cost $150. Is there a better way to check and diagnose the problem? Thanks!
