  1. Another lesson learned to share:

I was asked to choose different granite manufacturer/supplier because the one I researched online with good rating had no stock hence would delay my reno for months. ID recommended his supplier with similar quality and price which I accepted. The attached photos show how it looks like now after 6 yrs. Besides the dull surface I report earlier, big patch of granite next to the water tap worn out with rough whitish pebbles. Hard to believe that a real granite stone can worn out like that within few yrs.

Anyway, pls share if anyone has experience in fixing this kind of granite worn out issue. Thanks!

  2. Just an update after getting another ID to rectify one of the flaw from previous ID.

Hacked the full height mirror on one of the side wall in living room due to rust build-up one the backside of the mirrors. Found out the previous ID didn't mask the wall nails that attached the wood panels behind the mirrors, hence the rusty nail damage the backside of the mirrors and showed up on the frontside. Can't imagine if the rusted nails got broken someday and the whole mirrors fall off together with the wood panels while my family is having meal around the area.

  3. Hi Sendo999 and all,

Hi, I have just PM'ed my ID details to those who had requested. Let me know if anyone doesn't receive it.

Just called the glass contractor who did the glass works for my home. Unfortunately, they refused to take my business of replacing the glass panels (with black color background glasses) because my ID had threatened them not to deal with his clients directly. Anyway, no big deal.....will look for other glass contractors. Didn't expect an adult businessman/designer can be so petty minded ;)

  4. Oh my........ luckily I have came across your blog! Is he Mr.J.Txx? I just met him yesterday and almost wanted to engage him!

Spend some time in this forum and you should be able to figure out which Mr.J ..... :notti:

Just finished touching up another problem due to poor workmanship. The quartz table top's hole for water treatment faucet that my ID cut was off-centered to the stainless steel undermount kitchen sink's hole. Spent few hours and $$ for the grinding stones to enlarge the table top's hole......

  5. I stay in top floor unit at level 13th. The water pressure is as high as my previous 11th floor unit. There was once the water pressure was low, and hdb conractor later found out that it was due a a faulty water pump unit in the roof top. I also had the same water pressure concern initially so I installed an instant water heater with pump in common bathroom, which increases the water pressure by ~20%. If you intend to use overhead rain shower, then the hdb water pressure will not be strong enough.

  6. May I know which forwarder did you use ?

I used Oops.sg. Have been using them for 3~4 shipments of goods bought from TB and TM. Nothing to complain so far, except their local response (through email) was a little slow sometimes. They will re-packed all your goods into their carton boxes. The best thing I like most is they deliver to your door step without extra charges. Unlike Daigou, we have to collect at their designated pickup locations.

  7. Hi. We are in blk 526d (I think). Not moved in yet....just wanna know... is it possible to smash down the service balcony wall so as to make the kitchen 1 room?

Hi, I was told by my ID last time that we could hack down the partition walls between the kitchen and service balcony. But we didn't do that because the kitchen is big enough for my wife's light cooking style. I saw from my living room there are 1~2 units just opposite my block have their partition walls hacked. I guess it's legal, but better to ask your ID or hdb to be sure. Many IDs or contractors will just follow instructions from the home owners if it's not a 'major' violation to hdb rules.

  8. Can taobao's drainage be used in our HDB Drainage trap?

Anyone confirm same size? Saw those beautiful stainless steel type... Anyone got them before?

    Hi Belle,

I didn't try it because I have read at least 2 posts in this forum that someone bought the drainage traps from TB but ended up couldn't fit.

In fact, even if I bought it, I couldn't use it because my ID sealed the edge of the drainage trap with cement/tiles (both of my bathroom are overlaid with rough surface tiles). I don't know how to replace it if the current hdb plastic-made drainage trap breaks.... :(

  9. Hi HansamuQ,

Link for the 4-ganged Philips light switch: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=35590039581&spm=a1z09.2.9.23.1vITN7&_u=evr2rgbac1d

The light switch doesn't come with LED indicator, but it has fluorescent reflector that will make it reflective in the dark.

Link for the SST sink with 2mm thickness grade 316 stainless steel: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=39032549243&spm=a1z09.2.9.350.1vITN7&_u=evr2rgbcf81

It's not cheap, but we like the size for the convenience of washing big items. So far no rust or any problem with it. Please also take note that if you intended to mount the sink underneath the table-top, then the screw thread of the dish-washing soup dispenser might not be long enough. I am ok with it because I use that 2.5mm hole for my water treatment's water tap, which I bought separately and has long mounting screw thread.

Let me know if I can be of any help....in term of TB shopping, not sourcing for a good ID ;)
