  1. ya, must have gd sleep den the dark eye circle will go away slowly.

and also its gd to place cucumber slices on the eyes as it will also help to moisture the eye muscles and also relax the eye muscles with its cooling effect.

if you want to have even cooling effect, put in the fridge for 10mins and den put onto the eyes.

  2. that day food fair at suntec city and my hb bought for me eu yan sang concentrated birdnest which cost one bottle about $70+. i prefer to buy at food fair bcos there're some discounts. :dancingqueen:

ya, when got such fair, they will tend to have gd discount. sometimes they have special sales themselves also. you can obtain their membership card also.

i also prefer ready made concentrated birdnest coz open and can consume already, unless i got time to boil it.

me have a stock load of conc bird nest coz whenever got real gd deal, i will juz grab a few to store and consume it slowly. my hb says since i so enjoy it, he don't mind stocking up. :notti: and he added, if got war, he thinks the 1st thing i bring into the bomb shelter are my precious birdnest :dancingqueen:

  3. Iron & vitamin :dunno: Whatever you buy, jus make sure they are from natural food source and not synthetic processed.

I think MaKuang & Eu Yan San sama sama

wow S$75 like specialist charges :(
duno per visit the herbs last for how many days mah if last for 3days is ex

ya, nwadays the TCM is not cheap. both abt the same price. the herbs are quite cheap. its the consultation fees and also depending what you go and see the physicians abt.

i hv been having back problm (old already :sport-smiley-003: ) and 1 rub (including massage, adjusting of backbone by cracking, pulling, 8| etc which almost want my life :~ ) and accupuncture cost abt $80 at ma guang and excluding herbal medicine.

and nwadays, the medicine are in powder form and packed in either capsule form or in packet type (juz like 3-in-1 coffee type) where you can juz mix with luke warm water to drink it. but still vy bitter and yucky :(:dunno::dunno:

and the herbal medicine they give is abt for 3 days for non serious ailment, 5 to 7 days generally for all ailments. and they will ask you to go back and see them again.

and also after that, they will want to help you to 'bu' your body by asking you to go back and see them for long term and get tonic herbal medicine to balance your body system.

I'm v lazy and dun mind bitter stuff. My personal formula:

    1 cup Benedictine D.O.M.

    1 cup water

    5-10 pieces Dang gui

1 tablespoon of Qi1 Zi3 (dried red berries good for eyes)

2-4 pieces large Tao Pok (fried beancurd skin) instead of meat for vegetarians

Boil D.O.M., water and dang gui together until the alcohol is all gone. Add tao pok. Finally when soup is almost ready add Qi1 Zi3.

Yummier recipe from book "Longevity, the Tao of Eating and Healing":

Dang gui and longan tonic tea

    1 thumb-sized dang gui root

    20 pieces dried longan

    2 cups water

Boil all ingredients in a Chinese earthenware herbal pot until only 1 cup of liquid is left. When half cooked, remove the dang gui root, slice very thinly, and return to the pot. Drink the liquid and eat the root and longan. This bitter brew should be taken once, when period ends, or once every 1 to 2 weeks if anaemic.

    :( To good health!

wah, your above is a vy heaty formula leh. the DOM already got dang gui processed in it. and you add somemore dang gui, its vy heaty. if your body is able to take it, den its ok. if not it will be too heaty.

longan also is a heaty thing. but the above is gd for woman after menses and give birth to preseve and give body tonic. and also cannot have to much coz wait too heaty and also you have other heaty tonic stuffs to eat as well. eg. sesame oil chicken.

    otherwise, its too heaty.

yes yes, they are the same :dunno:

you can apply for the life time membership card from Hock Wah and you can get some discount when you purchase things there.

Double-boil birdnest is better than preserve birdnest. I use to work in my uncle bird-nest shop(Horse Brand) during my school days. Very interesting indeed.

The factory workers will pick up all the dirts, feather etc Once done, the bird nest will send to a oven to dry it. Follow by packaging.

There's few ways to cook your birdnest. My fave method r: 1 drum-stick(Chicken) with the nest. Double boil it, add a little of salt when eating. For those who prefer to have it sweet, just double-boil it with rock sugar or coconut.

Birdnest is good for Preg woman, kids. I was told its good for our lungs & air-passage.

to have it the light and easy way as a drinking soup, you can use 4, 6 or 8 red dates, rock sugar and double boil the bird nest.

and boil the all the ingredients 1st for abt 15-20mins. when the water is boiling, den put in the bird nests and boil for abt 15mins. dont' dump everything in immediately. the bird nests will be 'spoilt' (i dunno hw to put it, but its taught to me by my boss' wife who's a fantastic cook).

and blood bird nests are the best. but of coz, due to the high price and limited resources $$$, normal type will do. but normal bird nests must be wash clean but of coz generally, they are quite clean already but some you still can find some tiny bird hairs and impurities in it.

and yes, it not only gd for yang yan, its gd for preggy women, lungs and the environment. at least, we didn't kill the shark for the fins and help the birds to clear their environment :dunno:

but of coz, the poor bird nests harvestors are one of the most exploited workers in the world. :(

but if we didn't buy, they be out of job also. its a vicious cycle 8|

  4. it's loyang, think the down slope from changi side towards tampines / TPE

rainy day, slippery road and a driver who mistook the accelerator as the brake pedal :dunno::dunno:

note: the last part i guess only, coz the impact pushed another lorry aside before landing the lorry on top of the toyota 8|8|

read from the newspaper that the lorry driver lose control of the lorry and it juz skidded all the way, scrape the side of another lorry and bang into the poor toyota. if the traffic was moving at that time, i think the toyota driver might have survive. :dunno::(:(:(

rainy days = slippery roads = longer braking distance

    drivers got to exercise caution

but we still see cars skidding into walkways, banging into each other :dunno::dunno:

    ST_IMAGES_CQCAR1.jpg

This driver must be order takeaway. :sport-smiley-003::(

its a drive-in eating outlet... juz like the old times, drive in movie type :(

if raining, somehow or rather it will sure to affect your vision. there was once i drove in heavy rain and i could hardly see anything infront of me. i just drove slowly and turned on the wipers to the fastest speed. :(

during raining or snowing, the rules are all the same, slippery roads. during raining, as the roads are filled with oil (which we can't see), it will float up with the rain water. and our vehicle's wheels are practically not touching the road surface but speeding on the oil above the water. that is one of the factor why it make it skid and also when you are driving at 50km/hr & above.

so drive at a slower speed so that you will be able to brake in time. better to be late den never :(

i ever tried skiding and it really scared the ****, soul, spirit, brain, heart, ****...whatever... out of me :~:(:(

during rainy days (except for small rain), it affect your vision and your judgement. the distance you get to see infront is shorter and thus your reaction that your eyes see, send msg to your brain and from your brain send signal to your foot and finally applying the brake.

sometimes, if the rain gets too heavy, even the lines on the road are not visible. so during rainy days, better to be slow and safe if you want to go hm and see your loved ones, and also being responsible to other road users's lives.

can consider those rain-repellent glass treatment...

so that the water beads away faster and gives u clearer vision in heavy downpours.

not sure about RainX but heard both good and bad reviews about it

there are other similar products....can try

ya, rainx is effective if rain is not too big. if too big also no use. and also its gd to spray some of these things, especially on the side mirror as there are no wiper to help wipe away the raindrops and when you want to filter lane, you will hv a hard time to see oncoming motorists who like to squeeze in between vehicles.

but of coz, you have apply every now and then.

and also you wiper plays a part too.

  5. $22K COV for Bedok Pt Blk. Tomorrow first appt.

wah you got a gd steal leh :P:D

i hope yours is a high flr unit :D

abt 6 years back, hb and me go enquire at bedok pt blk that is near the center, facing the sea (can see the ECP), full marble flr, reasonable (i should say) simple decor (meaning don't have to do major overhaul reno type if you are chin chai) want at least $60K :):notti::) . We like this unit vy much as its ultra windy, the old auntie was fully cloth in jacket and long pants with slippers walking at home. but a pity, too ex and we gave up in the end.

and those that are not so well maintain, facing other directions but mid flr and not really near to center are asking from $45k - $55k minimum :):~

  6. No exactly model lah. In layman term, R410 is the type of refrigerant ( some ppl call new gas).

In future, R410 will phase in to replace R22 to protect the environment. Think many aircon supplier trying to clear their models that use R22. Coolserve promotion mainly all Daikin aircon using R22 gas.

    yes, u r rite.

May I know how long is the average installation it takes to install a non-inverter sys 3 aircon for a HDB flat?

Btw if when do you install in the aircon if I am doing renovation for the first time for my HDB flat? (ie after floor tiles, painting etc or it doesnt matter?)

juz a few hours will do. give them a day and they are able to finish up the work and do up all patches and clean up the place nicely. normally, for residential project (that is those sub-con that take up the whole condo residential blks to do air-con), 1 unit = 1 day work. but for ad-hoc works, eg. installing air-con only for 1 unit of hdb, ususally they will come on 2 days as what Vowsh had said below.

usually upon finish installation, they will on the air-con a while to trial run to see if all are connected properly. but they will ask you to leave it for a day and den after that den on it.

for commercial condos project, the air-con sub-con will have to do a balancing work as well. ie. test to see if the standard required temp is achieved. if not, they hv to rectify the problm.

Best to do before doing any flooring done so as to prevent damaging the tile/laminate/parquet.

If you want to conceal your trunking by false ceiling or wardrobe, then u better to the aircon installation 1st.

My advice is not conceal the trunking so that if any leakage happen , u don't have to tear down the false ceiling or wardrobe to recify the problem. Save $$

    Installation can be done in 2 trips - 1st trip : Install piping/trunking ; 2nd trip to install the fancoil ( after painting). 1st trip takes about ~5hrs...2nd trips...3hrs ( no bracket) .. ~4hrs ( with bracket).

    Is around that range.

get the contractor to do floor protection by laying cardboards (for protection purpose type).

and vowsh advice is rite, try not to conceal the trunking as if there is a chokage, den you have to get contractor to tear down whatever's concealing the trunking and rectify the problm. and after that, you will need the contractor to put up / make good whatever that has been taken down. and if its a separate contractor who will do it, there are charges for taking down, making gd and putting back again.

  7. i like to cook as sometimes the food outside contains too much msg

i'm a little allergic to msg so if there's too much i'll feel some tingling down my spine

    ya, you are rite. :D

according to youngsters, they'll say more economical to eat out but try telling our grandparents or our parents. They'll say its much better to 'dine in'.

hmm.....quite subjective on this weight issue as it all depends. To me, I find that 'dine in' put on weight and 'dine out' the opposite. What u all think?

basically, we had a count and feel that if you eat out on simple dishes, its much cheaper. my hb is the calculator. i don't care, i just eat whatever i like. :(

as for weight issue, i think generally when 1 reach certain age, whether eat in or out, weight will still increase. :P

well if you eat mcdonalds/kfc/pizza hut every day, surely will put on weight mah.

there is usually no or little wastage because my husband is quite efficient at clearing the plates 8| but i'm not adverse to eating leftovers so if there is anything left it goes in the fridge for the next day.

my hb is also the one clearing stock :dribble:

wahahaaa... still have pple tinking of cooking at home to safe $$...

depend wat kind of dishes u cook lar.

if buy cheap ingredient and can last longer that able to save lor. Just for example ah => simply fried cabbage with garlic only or seldom have fish or meat :~ ...

if u go for expensive ingredient and its delicious usually can eat alot and most properly will finished just one day  .hahaha that how home cook food put u on weight.. after eat bedroom is near ZZZzz. or sit at sofa and dose off...

cooking , u too waste gas, waste water, waste time, kitchen dirty still need to mop the floor. or eventually have to mop the whole house cuz u step from kitchen to bedrooms  ...

I love to cook too. i love cooking sup esp tonic sup :P ... at time i stew meat with taoKua and mushroom can last a week ah..everyday just cook rice lor. hehe...or top up ingredient to slow cooker 8|

at times i very lazy, just simply steam everything but like steam fish with plum & salted veg in rice cooking.

conculsion;- not really able to save much if cooking at home. Depend on dishes & ingredients.

you extremely are rite. i buy quality stuffs and its only for 2 days and i spent like $50+ and my hb was going :notti:

but at least i see he likes the food and finish all up. i would rather spend and get healthy, nourishing meals then sting on it coz these are our batteries that power us up leh :(

  8. there is 1 furniture shop at Bedok South, juz situated opp the MRT. its on the side of the direction to downtown. and inside a warehouse like of area beside the main road facing MRT. you will see many new cars parked in the lot and i think its partly rented by parrelell car importer to store their new cars.

inside there is the furniture shop. i think its pretty eye catching coz it got big balloons outside the shop and also bright lights shining at the carpark (if you go at night). i don't know what's the name of the shop.

they are selling furnitures and everytime they have something on sale. the last time my hb and me juz walk in and have a look. the tv console that i saw similar to the pics but the wood element is black veneer type is going for $199 only. of coz the promotional items (we had asked them) are only a few pieces, brand new but in display rm (some ppl don't like display pieces). and also there's a delivery charge to it (i think they ever say but i have forgotten abt the details), you had to ask them.

    hope the above helps.

  9. I do read a few forummers here combining MBR and Study. For me I need all the 4 rooms so no combining for me. In fact, if I can have 5 rooms even better. :bangwall:

Nice idea to make the MBR and study connected...for me the study will become the guest room and one of the bedroom will become the study as we've got lots of bookshelves and 3 study tables to put in. :bangwall: so the original study is just too small for us.

You might want to consider a fancoil with a slightly bigger BTU to cool both rooms effectively. There are others who feel unnecessary but my own opinion is to go for something bigger.

ya, you are rite. its better to have a slightly oversize aircon rather than undersize. coz ppl will not complain abt being too cold but will complain abt being not cold enough since we are in tropical country

  10. You will need to transformer to get it to work or else it will blow.

ya, keltong is right. and the transformer cost somewhere around $200.

its better to buy from here as when the total cost of the item + transformer + shipping will eat away whatever savings you have.

i had missed the mayer sales coz thinking of buying a kitchenaid mixer also. this mixer is better as its more sturdy and lasting. those mixers in the mkt either cannot mix well or cannot mix high speed for too long as it will kaput.

and i have been making cakes and so thought of getting one but the price is steep. there are some from taiwan as well. better than kitchenaid and the price is about the same also.

  11. hi,

most of those shops which sells crockery have the plain type. similar to those where some of the restaurants are using.

you can try the crockery shops at Ang Mo Kio central. its situated next to Jubilee Cineplex (i think that's what its call) building. next to this bldg is a playground. next to the playground is the foodcourt. and the shop is attach to the foodcourt. you will not miss it as its kinda like standalone shop.

i believe this shop's item is not ex as i have been buying stuffs from there for many years.

if not, you can go to the famous 5B at Joo Chiat.

its located opposite Joo Chiat Complex. its the row of shop houses just after the traffic light where you turn into the small lane from the main road. and the shop name is 5B.

    hope the above helps.

  12. Haha, welcome back. I thought u MIA liao. PM u but ur inbox is full.

ya, the mailbox size here is ultra small... !! i had cleared the 'small box', you can pm me again :sport-smiley-004:

    ROFL... my bad then Leen.

As I know that HDB actually re-tiled all units before handing keys. I noticed your floor tiles have dark patches & presumed they did not do your unit; hence posting of pics to show how bad. Was just getting in mood to sympathize :x

OoOOoo.. yours is the fan-shaped ones! Very unique outlay I must say. I saw some of the pics from the link you pasted. I must saw, i love the full windows! Again, its blue haahaa... my fav colour nontheless. Changing my balcony doors to blue ones.

the black patches are dirt. this unit was vacant for abt 5-6years so expect it to be dirty and also we walk in with our shoes.

basically, only get the town council to do pest checks and change of mailbox lock and window locks as these locks are rusty and cannot open and close properly. they get it done swiftly within 1 week of notice from us.

hdb didn't really do re-tile all hdb units unless the condition is real bad. and of course one have to be reasonable and cut down on wasted resources in this case of asking for re-tiling.

i guess we are lucky to get this unit in such gd condition. even my contractor cannot believe that it was built so long ago and was vacant for so long and the condition was still so gd.

we had remove the balcony sliding door to extend our living rm and so we can a vy long and big area where we would like to leave the space as empty as possible for kids to play and walk about.

becoz if we had the sliding balcony door, the space will be taken up and i have no use for a balcony as i had place my plants at the corridor already. and also if the balcony door is there, it kinda block out wind and light. to create a bigger space feeling, and also becoz my unit is long, we feel having bright light shining in will brighten up the whole unit and makes it more airy. but also its kinda of a waste to remove the sliding door and dispose off. and now the whole unit is quite windy so much that our window cannot open too wide, shiok but chilly when it gets too windy.

both my hb and me had done up our designs for the contractor and get him to look at it and comment if the design will work nicely and had them renovated accordingly. We had go all over SG to hunt and choose for furnitures, appliances, lightings, decor, kitchen and toilet accessories, etc.

and we had gotten a standalone hob with oven and i had made cakes with it already :jawdrop:

im used to these type of old fashion oven as i feel its vy much sturdy and can last for quite a while as during my stay at Oz, the old landlady had been using hers for ages but of coz she takes real gd care of it, like her baby and she makes plenty of things with that oven :sport-smiley-004:

this weekend going to make choc chip cookies and roast chicken :dunno:

  13. hi arwena,

i think you are mistaken. i didn't say my unit got problem. in fact, all the tiles in the unit are in gd condition, the colours are well co-ordinated (i don't have a blue toilet and a pink toilet). all the toiletries are well covered up (i think they want to keep it in gd condition and from breeding mosquitoes). we only get the town council to help us check for white ants and pests but as we are at high floor, there are no problems for us. we didn't even need to change any tiles, do patch up or so. even our contractor also help us to inspect the whole unit's tiling works, those installed pipings and electrical cables and were also vy surprise that the condition is gd. after the renovation, our contractor also say he don't feel like leaving our flat coz vy comfy and cozy feel.

my blk is 468+, 5rm exec type, the round fan shape blks with blue full height windows and that's the theme of the blks there. when we renovated the hse, we adopt the seaside resort theme and after its finished, it looks and feel gd.

there are some photos from previous thread:

    http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...2257&st=160

    http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...2257&st=320

now we living comfy in there for 4mths already :dunno: quiet, serene surrounding. the primary school next to the area wasn't noisy also. but during the daytime, if you go down to the blks with the nursery, you can hear the kids singing :dunno: they are so cute :D

  14. this is the condition of the unit when i first recvd the keys to open the unit.

  15. they are sub-contracting alot of commercial residential projects. most of the workers are their own. as for ad-hoc per unit basis, you have to check out their prices by asking for quotation.

im using toshiba inverter, a system 3 + system 2 and my total cost + installation is $5k. my hse fully air-con. yup, the compressor is from Japan. ultra quiet at night when you on it !!

    opps, mistake here...

i got 2 compressors for 2 systems. 1) One inverter system4 for MBR (12,000btu), rm 2 (9,000btu), rm 3(9,000btu) and study rm (9,000btu). 2) One non-inverter system1 for living / hall as its too big an area to cool down (24,000btu).

total price, including installation and 5 years warranty: $5k.

but after installing, seldom use coz house area too cool. occasionally on it for running purpose.

  16. Hi Ladyluck,

today i went to chinatown and happen to see this shop that sells wedding stuffs and they have quite many different type of teapot sets comparing to other shops.

it is located at the chinatown temporary market, sundry section, #01-132, shop name: Tiao Xiang

the shops at this temp mkt was formerly located at the multi-storey mkt at chinatown (the same bldg as CK supermart) and as upgrading was going on, they had shifted to this temp mkt. but from what the owner said, they will be moving back to the old mkt on April 2008 as the upgrading works are completing soon.

this is the shop that my mum went to get all the wedding stuffs for me.

this temp mkt is located somewhere diagonally of Cantonment Complex (i think its police HQ?)

and the best part is this shop's prices are not ex and you can bargain provided you are not pan dang on bargaining for things that are supposed to be auspicious and for wedding.

hope the above helps. enjoy your wedding stuffs hunting session, don't be overstress out, get plenty of help from siblings, family members and friends. :notti:

  17. How come no one here buy from Natural Cool?

I thought Natural Cool is the largest and is a listed company, so their service and prices should be competitive?

they are sub-contracting alot of commercial residential projects. most of the workers are their own. as for ad-hoc per unit basis, you have to check out their prices by asking for quotation.

im using toshiba inverter, a system 3 + system 2 and my total cost + installation is $5k. my hse fully air-con. yup, the compressor is from Japan. ultra quiet at night when you on it :D

  18. Fashion Direct

    #02-07D , IMM building

    Tel: 68999368

they are quite aggressive!! but jus show them the bo chup look and get what u wan and go!

their things are quite ex but all at 1 stop!:D

i ever went into this shop b4 while shopping at IMM with hb and their prices make my eyes go :P

Hi Hi! opps my wedding is over but would like to check for a friend,

can they make do with normal colourful chinese teapots & teacups (those wth chinese dragon motifs on them)

or must they specially get those meant for wedding with the double "xi" words printed on the teapot?

of coz they can use that, provided:

    1) if they have elders (parents and most importantly grandparents) who are pan dang or particular about such small details, they will have to change the teapots.

    2) must seek approval from elders, most importantly grandparents.

if all are ok with it, by all means you can use that. don't use the chinese brown pots (zi sha hu) type will do. :jawdrop:

so nice of u, to give tips.

i mean all in one for tea pots wide range to pick from, design & quality.

huh aggressive? ex mean same items can get a lower price else where or becos their quality is ex?

don't mention it. i share with coz my family are peranakan and my family members are even more particular about everything. eg. ceremony and rituals, small details, guo da li items, what items for praying, when to pray, pick auspicious dates, wedding cakes, etc to practically everything about wedding. i was so stress up by trying to remember and note down these instructions and all the dos and don'ts.

most of the tea pots set are made from china or malaysia. of coz, most china made stuffs are cheap. as for quality, most of the sets i had saw are of reasonable quality. most of these tea sets comes in glazed type, meaning those shining surface with reflection and some even have rainbow color when you look at them at different angle.

and also all the shops i recommend got quite a few sets of tea sets to choose from. :)

  19. Hi Ladyluck,

i do not quite understand your question : 'any one stop in all?'

are you refering to 1 shop that have all wedding accessories? most of the shops that are recommended here have everything in their shop.

juz to kay poh and a note for you:

during tea drinking ceremony, remember to use longans and red dates (if you like coz some ppl don't like red dates' taste but anyway, its juz a sip for everyone only) to boil in water, add a tiny bit of fine sugar and stir if you do not want it to be too sweet.

the water is used for tea drinking. as for the longans and red dates, you can either put in the pot (a few will do so that it does not clog up the sprout and you will find it difficult to pour the tea out) or 1 item each and put in the cups (for show only). this symbolises sweet life for the couple.

small details that will make ppl run about and get panicky:

    1) place the teapot and cups on the table near to where the elders will be seated while you serve them tea.

    2) have at least 4 tea cups juz in case the changeover is fast and if with only 2 tea cups, how to rinse and serve tea at the same time?

    3) the tea pourer could be your bridesmaid or any of your friends or relatives who can help out. it will be good if the tea pourer only pour tea, while another could help rinse tea either at the basin or at the tap point. because if the tea pourer is also your hm photographer or 1 of the tea drinkers, you will expect a bit of hoo hah while changing roles.

    4) place a basin (small one will do) with clean water to rinse the cups (in case the tea pourer couldn't make it in time to wash the cups at tap point).

    5) place another small basin for throwing out the access tea that the tea drinkers had left (most of them juz take a sip and will not finish the tea).

    6) if you have youngers who will serve tea to you, you can sip a bit will do. if you are really that thursty, after the tea ceremony, den go drink a big glass of the tea you have made. :sport-smiley-004:

    7) remember, the elders will place a angbao for you and hb on the tea tray while some juz give it to you. so when serve tea (by tea pourer), always remember to serve the tea in the teacups on the tea tray and not juz give 2 teacups to the elders. :sport-smiley-004::bleah:

    8) if for youngers, you and hb will have to give ang bao to them while they serve you tea.

  20. hi,

you can find these shops useful.

    1) the old mkt beside OG at Chinatown, #02. there is a shop selling wedding stuffs.

    2) the shopping centre next to the above old mkt at Chinatown. there is 1 'emporium' selling china stuffs, winter clothings, etc. they have a corner selling wedding accessories. but i think it might be expensive.

    3) the building beside beauty world, #01. there is this shop congested with plenty of novelty items (eg. for party use, balloons, etc.) and specialising in wedding accesories. prices are reasonable. but shop is vy congested with goods and many customers.

    4) go to any shops that sell home cookwares stuffs and these places usually carry some of these wedding teapots and its quite cheap. there is 1 at AMK central, near to Jubilee Cinema, next to the kids' playground.

just go for 1 reasonable set and be expected not to use it again. only good for 1 time use unless you will be using it to make tea and drink with HB... :bangwall::D:curse:

for me, i have it tied up with red ribbon (as required by my mum) for the wedding purpose. after that, i just leave it as it is and now its in my display cabinet. :P

  21. I think I know the feeling although my experience wasn't quite like yours in that I do not know for certain what/who was responsible for these uncomfortable and scary episodes. Like you, I didn't talk about it either except perhaps a couple of times. One of these times when I shared with someone, the explanation offered was that there was a scientific reason for it like maybe, the body was numb, something to do with the nerves, whatever. I just know that it is not something that I would like to go through again. Tks for sharing. :help:
ya, there were some sort of research done scientifically and was stated that when ppl gets too overly tired out physically and with mental stress for sometime, once they go into sleep and at occasionally, they will get this feeling. so its not some due to some ghostly factors.i duno :help:

  22. Scary thread this...

Don't know how long this went on 'cos to me, it seemed like an eternity when finally, woke up suddenly and was drenched in perspiration and shaking in fear. In cantonese, some people say this is "bei gwai jak" meaning "being pressed down by ghosts". This fear has stayed with me all this year and I did not have another episode until last month when I had the same type of "dream" and this time, in the morning. This time, no more helicopter noise or radio sounds but the same fear, wanted to get up but could not move, opened my mouth to call for help 'cos could sense my husband being in the room. Well, after what seemed like ages, finally 'broke free' and managed to wake up with the same fear as I had the first time. Not sure if this is making any sense to anyone but anyone experienced something like this?

i have 1 such experience and i don't quite like it coz its my dead young cousin. he die within 2 weeks after being sick and without any specific illness. he was a healthy, active young kid then.

we were all so sad. and his parents went to ask the 'god' what they should do before he dies, but the 'god' says his soul is already being taken and he will die soon. and not long after that, he really dies!:sport-smiley-004:

and on the 2nd day after he pass on, i was too tired and was taking a nap at my female cousin bed and suddenly i feel cold, had a feeling that someone was standing beside me and very slowly trying to whisper to me at my ear. and i can feel that the presence is my dead cousin, so when i try to ask what he is trying to say, he seems to be tired and climb over me to lay beside me on the other side of the bed and asking me to help him!:sport-smiley-004:!!

i was in the state of shock, cannot move, cannot talk, cannot open my eyes, cannot even lift my fingers!:sport-smiley-004: and he kept telling me that a fierce female ghost had taken him to be his slave and he's made to do all work for her. i was woken by my female cousin (older) and she said that she saw i was furgiting in my sleep and like in great pain, so she woke me up.

and i get the same dream for almost 2weeks!:bangwall: i was so upset but didn't tell anyone coz my aunty & uncle are already sad enough over my cousin's death. but i told my female cousin (the dead cousin's elder sis) after 1 week and she immediately told my another aunty and they get me to go see the 'god' and take the tailsman for protection. but the dreams continue for another week and end with my dead cousin crying sadly.

this is 1 **** of scary experience for me. when i told my mum, she gets so worried and make me go see another 'god' again, do some chanting and prayers for me.

till now, after 20 over years, i still feel uncomfortable talking abt this issue. :~:~:bleah::notti::)

  23. at the funeral which is at the void deck of my eldest uncle, my eldest auntie suddenly shivered and kept pointing to the lift. they believed she saw my grandmother there...

also, normally when u leave the funeral site, u have to wash / rinse urself with leaves from a kind of plant. i didnt dat time. so while i went home, i keep feeling there is a presence of someone else in the house... i told my mum abt it and she quickly took the leaves (we have the plant in the house too) and i wash myself with it. after dat, i felt more at ease...

the plant is promegranate plant, chinese name is you zi ye (promegranate leave). usually pan dang ppl place these leaves in water and all you have to do is wash your hand, sprinkle on your face if you don't want to wash your face with the water. and usually ppl use this when they go to someone else's wake. if its your own close relative, its ok, don't have to use this coz ppl believe own relative is friendly ghosts. :sport-smiley-004:

My dad passed away 17 years ago. After he had passed away, in the first 2 years,

he came back to visit us quite often, almost every night. On his "first seventh" my

mum bought durian for him for praying, knowing he loves durians. The next day,

i.e. the eighth day, me and my mum saw finger prints on the durian, it's not left by

me or any other family members coz when we open the durian fruits, we pour the

durian fresh on the plate without touching it.

My dad had habbits like opening the gate louding, banging the lock against the wooden

door and waking louding around the house a few rounds in the morning around 5am.

Theses were heard at nights and morning after he is gone. My mum felt my dad seating

next to her on the bed while sleeping (she's a light sleeper), coz the mattress sank down.

I heard him walking around the house into my room around 5am, but see nothing.

These movements gradually ceased over the years, but some nights and morning,

me and my mum can still feel or hear him coming back, walking in the house.

There's nothing to be scare of as long as your conscience is right.

this story is abt the same as my grandfather. he came back every night and everyone in the family knows. reaason being that he being overweight, always walked heavily and drag his foot steps. and at that time, we are living at 2 storey wooden bungalow hse :sport-smiley-004: those peranakan type, coz my paternal side is perankan and they have their own factory and house with shops rented out to motor workshop, indian food store, mama shop and to 3 families.

my grandma told us that our great grandma taught her that if you want to know whether the dead came back, put glutinous rice as offerings on the 7th day night. and after midnight, burn plenty of paper money, incense and candles and call to the dead relative to come back to take & eat full full before making their journey. den in the morning, check the glutinous rice and you will see that the rice is touched before, ie. can see finger pressed marks. this shows that they had come back before. and there's a reason why to use the glutinous rice to pray on the 7th day night. becoz when the person dies, he still duno he's dead until the 7th day when he's back and when he put his hands into the glutinous rice, he will 1) see that his finger nails are stuck to the glutinous rice, 2) and their fingers had turned black 3) thus realise they are dead 4) and thus realise they have to move on for reincarnation. and at this point they will drop tears of sadness realising that he's dead and had left his family for good.

my grandma also told us not to be afraid of our dead relatives as they are only here to protect and bless the family.

they also says that it is lucky to attend funeral of dead old folks who are over 80 years of age.
