Yet another weekend has passed! Last Fri, we headed to the Taka sale & we were happy to make off with some needed purchases. Bought new feather pillows to complete our bed: & a Zojirushi electric air pot as well as a set of WMF saucepan & pots (not pictured). Been looking around for a nice-sized one to fit our kitchen. Glad that this one has the required functions & priced reasonably too. Bought a lovely Kitty plate & bowl from the Luminarc range at 20 + 10% off. Been eyeing this for a while so was really happy to get them. My only Hello Kitty purchases during the sale. Spent all my time in Taka walking around in the homeware section instead of going to the toy section like I usually do. I am a changed person now with new priorites haha. On Sat, we had our first delivery from NTUC! Essential goodies filling up our entrance. We have oil now! We can finally start cooking our own meals instead of ordering fastfood all the time! *happy* Hubby was the one who did the ordering. Apparently beer is conisdered an essential.. LOL

Bedside table is still in consideration, as we only have 40cm space on each side, so we would need tiny tables (if we can find them). Else, we are thinking of getting a simple bench & putting it at the foot of the bed to hold stuff like our iPhones & iPads & mugs of hot choc^^

Thanks! I love the color scheme too. Was inspired by this pic I happened upon online one day & the paint color was MAJOR LOVE at first sight! Would have bought it immediately if not for the fact that it was only available in Denmark. I tried my best to match the color though, so still happy with it in the end. Ahh... the clothes issue. We can never have too many clothes, hehe. Did consider before to use 1 of the bedrooms to make a bigger WIW, However, I think my love for toys far outweigh my love for clothing, so much so that I think I can live with having lesser clothes (& subsequently clothing space) if it means both my hubby & I can have our own toyrooms, so we scrapped the idea. Having such a wardrobe would definitely "force" us to be less lazy & tidy it more often? Some things we can consider to make it look nicer: 1) to use only the same hangers throughout. 2) to organize clothing according to color.

Nowadays our fave activity is to pop by our new home so we went by after work again yesterday. The painters had plastered & touched up so the place is looking even better than usual^^ Finally we get to unwrap our new bed & mattress & set them up! We didn't buy any pillows yet, the bed is looking somewhat naked so I put 2 Kitty cushions (from our living room sofa) on it. Don't they look comfy there..hehe This shot is taken with just lighting from WIW. Good to know that on days should hubby need to get ready for work, I won't be disturbed from my sleep since the light spillover is minimal. Time for a little romantic cosy corner highlight! Following shots taken with just bedside lamps on. Taken from window, foot of bed. 1/2 sleeping space + 1/2 wardrobe space makes up our MBR!

Hi Mitty & OceanEleven, Taobao is SUPER addictive! Guarantee once you start, you can't stop.. hehe. Depending on what I buy, I use different forwarders. Taobao small items like clothing, jewelry, home accessories, kitchen goods, toys, etc: Ship using Taobao's own forwarder 4PX. Taobao big items like lighting, furniture, rainshower,dangerous goods like bulbs etc: Ship sea freight using Amcon, Other China goods like H&M China, Forever21, etc: Ship using 65daigou's airmail or seamail service. Amazon USA items: Ship using their free service if spend above US$125 Amaozn USA (if no free service), Forever21, H&M US & all other US online sites: Ship using 65daigou or VPost USA/. Note that other than 4PX (charge using actual weight) & Amcon (charge according to cubic metre): the others charge according to actual OR volumetric weight, whichever is higher. So services like 65daigou & VPost, the shipping can go up quite high, depending on how the vendors package the goods.

Hi kyooko, yes, 1/2 height is sufficient really, for food preparation & easy-cleaning, also easier on the pocket. It's a good idea to paint it. Just curious how to paint if it is tiles?

Yest evening we had our white kitchen backsplash up, now our kitchen is completed!! Backsplash for the cooking area will make it easier to clean: 1/2 height backsplash for the other side to add some dimension to the otherwise plain-looking tiled wall: We requested for white to match our B&W kitchen. Very pleased with how it turned out

Hubby started to display his toys in his room. It's gonna be filled with all kinds of cute stuff soon, hehe. He fixed up my pink swivel chair from Ikea for my desk too: Finally unboxed my pink Hello Kitty mini furniture & set them up: Woohoo! First article of clothing in our WIW is also Hello Kitty!~! Kitchen backsplash installation scheduled for tonight. Painting & plastering touchup works scheduled for tomorrow. Hope everything goes well!

Last weekend was a scorcher! Aircon on fullblast as we hide out at our new place watching dramas & ordering in pizza. We have finished both Penny Dreadful & Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell for this week.Feels so good to be up-to-date. Finally the correct curtains arrived (after 2 wrong colors). They are blackout so it's super shiok watching dramas without the outside glare from the sun. Presenting our completed living room: Left view: Right view All our basics are either white, grey or black. Loving how clean & neat everything looks so far! Still a work-in-progress though, as we find more stuff to fill up our home with. Hope we can always maintain it like this.

Hi kyooko, 60cm is referring to this area where we walk in or out. It's still ok for us cos it's already wider than our shoulder width. Another shot with wardrobe lights off: Maybe easier to see this way? No doubt it is a small space, but it is not so small till we cannot move around in it.

Placed my red mailbox at the shoe cabinet, to hold our mail everyday: Put up my Hello Kitty curtains. The color is a tad darker than I would like, but is due to the blackout fabric used. It will keep my stuff safe from sunlight. Finally completed my chandelier by hanging on all its crystals: Hello Kitty wet wipes holder & dessert tray. Going to start decorating my room soon. Can't wait! 2 more new occupants to our living room. Cute huggable Kitty plushies!

Hey, no question is too silly The distance is about 65cm, which is ok for one of us to go through at any one time. If everything goes ok tomorrow, I might have more pics of my WIW to share. How big is your island going to be? I think most importantly you need to be comfortable with the distance & then modify accordingly.

Thanks! I think your neighbour is a fellow collector, hehe. Hubby disapproves of too much Kitty everywhere so currently she is only limited to the kitchen & my toyroom & maybe just a few in the living room. He didn't want the place to be too kittified cos if I get tired of her one day, then we have to re-do the whole place. So we are mainly going for a neutral palette & then add on some colors here & there along the way.

This post has all the "black" stuff. Simply love the color black, don't you? It's such a classic color & goes well with anything. After gas was switched on, we boiled our first water using our new Tefal kettle on our new black hob. Doesn't it look like they belong together perfectly? Hehe. With our Gain City member points, we bought a black microwave oven to match our black-laminate cabinet. It also matches our black Fujioh oven. Oh, and we bought a small black toaster too (not pictured). Now our kitchen looks complete! Our TV area: black Samsung 55" TV picked out by hubby. Came with a free soundbar. Matched with our black TV console from Ikea. Notice a new occupant to our living room? Presenting my all-time fave furniture buy: the HAY table. it was love at first sight when I laid eyes on it online few years ago. Tried to source for an online shop that sells it & ships internationally but unsuccessful . Finally managed to find it in Grafunkt & pre-ordered it. After waiting impatiently for 2 months, it's finally here! Even hubby was blown away by it. The quality is superb!! Our black conduit, black Fanco fan & black ceiling lamps from TB - view taken from sofa facing up. All black & looking very sleek. With lights on. The open design of the lamp allows light to be reflected onto the ceiling, so it is just the type of brightness that we like: We have gotten our kitchen measured for a white backsplash & also engaged Sparico for our pole system wardrobe within this week. Will update again!
