  1. After viewing the WIP, we headed of to buy 2 Relite fans. Simple black ones. And we came home to the delivery of our new home cleaning helper
  2. We have combined the space of the common toilet and yard toilet together. The common toilet now houses a small walk in wardrobe with the yard toilet's original entrance sealed off, we brought down the joining wall and have made the yard toilet the common toilet. Different states of opening for the walk in wardrobe/common toilet area. I call it the ninja room. We have left our wardrobe insides bare and will be using Ikea Stolmen post systems inside. All the way in is the toilet, on the side is the wardrobe. Master bedroom wardrobe. white laminates to offset the parquet flooring and our dark ash bedframe Master bedroom toilet Looking forward to week 6!
  3. With the sliding door closed (sliding door is to keep our dogs out of the study, bedroom and walk-in wardrobe area when we are not at home) It also makes an interesting aesthetic and allows us to seperate the living spaces. Also helps us to segregate the air conditioning when having guests over. Study room hides behind We are keeping things bare for now and will slowly decide what, where and how to add in new furniture pieces when we move in according to our needs.
  4. Living area I'm not fond of the ledge on the laminated wall but it was done for practical reasons. It was the best design compromise i could think of. The laminated wall hides a sliding door
  5. Kitchen island shelving/cabinets. Island will have a black granite top. The island will house a sink and these cabinets will sit below the sink Wall cabinet/shelves behind the island View of the kitchen island and living space from entrance area View of living area from kitchen island
  6. End of week 5! Quite a difference today in the look and feel with the cabinets, kitchen island and wall laminates up, the house is starting to take shape really nicely and i'm very happy with what i see today. Entrance / kitchen area Contractor brought new clients over to take a look at our WIP. They said our new place looks Danish. So i guess our theme is erm... Danish. Kitchen area / yard entrance Kitchen island with recessed area to fit a pair of stools
  7. mini-walk in wardrobe / common toilet Master toilet

  11. This is what it's supposed to look like. Copper flowerpot pendant lamp. Met up with contractor today to finalize details on the kitchen this afternoon and he showed me some pics of the tile work Entrance area (we are still deciding if we should go with tiles or cement screed) *Update: Cement screed*
  12. Thanks. Yap, there's no other family members besides the 2 of us. (& our 2 dogs) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Lights just arrived from http://www.scandinaviandesigncenter.com/! Awesome packing! (At better prices than what local retailers are selling at) Nice big box Filled with little air packets and big bubble wrap Hanging walnut pendant for common toilet woot! Hanging pendant on top of kitchen island Too nicely packed, so didn't want to remove the items inside.
  13. Start of Week #04 Had been busy the entire day trying to configure out kitchen/island cabinets/drawers with a million sketches done... Hardware will be a mix of Blum and non-Blum products. Finally after many back and forths... And contractor resending his drawing to reconfirm with us Hope everything goes smoothly this week.
  14. Tiling for master bedroom toilet has also started Work in progress Then we headed to Ikea to take a look at some other stuff and wondered about buying this Gazebo Ended up buying a plate instead (or we thought it was a plate)
  15. Short false celing along corridor Patched up corners Looking at the patio from living room
  16. Kitchen and yard area Yard entrance to what used to be toilet #03 has been sealed up Living room Corridor area
  17. Inside the house, the false ceilings are up! Piping for aircon Looking in from entrance
  18. End of Week #03 We dropped by over the weekend to take a look as well as select the laminates for inside the cabinets/drawers (left inside the house by contractor for us to choose) But before going to our new place, we dropped by the Blum showroom as we also need to confirm our kitchen cabinet/drawer configuration. I liked the BLUM servo drive stuff but no budget... First thing we saw when we reached our place was the tiling for the outside area has started! Though still at an early stage of WIP but turning out really nicely.
  19. We also bought some appliances last weekend at Harvey Norman. (We actually shopped around for best prices at other places, Audio House (for fridge), Mega Discount store (cooker hob), but Harvey Norman was able to match the bargained down prices we were quoted at other place, and since we can pick everything we wanted up at one location, might as well go ahead. Great customer service too) Hitachi fridge R-VG560P3MS (Glass Grey) - There's a promo now to get a free vacumm but we ditch it for a discount off the fridge's price instead Electrolux induction hob EHC726BA + 1 Fermob sixties armchair grabbed from IFFS We also bought our track lights and concealed lights from a shop in Siglap: https://www.facebook.com/ThreeCubes Good price, good service (Y)
  20. In the end, we chose: Superior wajar oak, Natural wajar oak for the woods around the house and either lace white or porcelain for white laminates in our master bedroom. Paint we went with Nippon Sail White for all walls and white for ceilings. Floor skirting will be wood.
  21. *Middle of week 3* Met up with contractor yesterday to talk about some details of the build as well as choose laminates and paint. Instead of choosing using catalogues (and smaller piece samples) which was pretty much the initial plan, we wanted to get the brand of laminates he was going to use and look through their catalogue online. In the end, we decided to make a trip down to the factory (EDL) instead to take a look at the actual big piece samples to get a better idea of how they will look. (we read about how different these laminates look when actually viewing the big pieces) After sifting through the catalogues, we shortlisted these for our wood laminates and requested them to bring out slightly bigger samples. Awesome bit about EDL is they allow you to keep these A4/A5 samples and bring them home. In the end we ended up with 5, so we went to take a look at the big pieces. (sadly, phone cam doesn't really show much difference in tones) Superior wajar oak Wajar oak Natural wajar oak Montana walnut (very Madmen) Pecan noce
