  1. Yep Im the proud owner of both Velodyne & SVS subs. I may have to add Paradigm subs as well. Definetely make a huge difference. Cheers
  2. KEC when they were still the distributor. I guess the price must have gone up. BTW, B&W has the best resale value in the market. Cheers
  3. LED is already **** bright, so bright environment will not put a dent to the pix quality. On the contrary, watching dark scenes LED may lose out to plasma as LED/LCD's black is not entirely black at all. So best is to choose with eyes wide open. cheers
  4. Good on u! Just enjoy your new HTS !!! *soundbar is crap*soundbar is crap*soundbar is crap*
  5. Hi Smart move to avoid HTiB. Avoid Soundbars as well. Theyre only good for room conditions. Wow factor is applicable for its neatness but when it comes to sound quality, its more WOE factor. MT-30 sets u back around $3.6K plus without receiver. If u think along the lines of Yamha or Onkyo amps, you wont go wrong. cheers
  6. Hi Dump the Dynaudio & get a brand new set up. A few bros in this forum are owners of Deft Tech Procinema 600 or 800. It's well within your budget. Do audition it. cheers
  7. Samsung not known for their plasma. Possibly Samsung uses OEM panels. Im using panasonic (Japan made panel) for 2 years now. Still ok. My usage is about 3 hours per day & 8 hours during weekends. cheers
  8. 3 most important features that the 708 has over the 508. 1) Power = 110 W vs 80W 2) DCDi upscaling. If u possess a OPPO80/83 BR player, then just get the 508 3) 508 has only 2EQ, which means it doesnt do the subwoofer calibration for u Just sent u the Yamaha link. Check it out. cheers
  9. Bro You could go for the newer yamaha receivers. http://www.yamaha.com/yec/AVENTAGE.html Or the Onkyo 708 at least. DefTech 800 is a superb overall system. If have budget, change the sub to either a SVS, Velodyne or paradigm. cheers
  10. Between the MT30 & CM series, have you audition the 600 series? At least the center speaker (HTM61 or 62) is not that large. cheers
  11. Whats with u guys with WAF? Theyre paying for it ah? Next time, bring THE Wife for auditioning! I got some strange couples who tried to pair POD Speakers (4 ohm rated) with a prestige defTech center speakers (8 ohm rated) Is 685 comparable with RX1? I think not. MA sounded too hollow for me. i prefer a full bodied amplification & guitar plucking must resonate as clear as metal to glass. RX1 power handling is only 80W (6 Ohm rated). Even B&W's M1 satelitte speakers packs a mighty punch at 100W (8 ohm rated) So the 685 is altogether a different class. The B&W M1 speakers have a great WAF. Do check it out. Then again, its just my opinion. cheers
  12. You came to the right place. Firstly look at yamaha recivers if u needed SW calibration. For onkyo, i can think of Onkyo 707 that does multi EQ. Yes, replace sub with velodyne or SVS or Paradigm. You not only feel the difference, but your neighbor would too Ive no problems with MA. Theyre pretty good atcually. But of coz if u have the budget, go for B&W. cheers
  13. I think the experts have a 600 series HTS package. using the 686 as rears & HTM61/62 as center. And if u decided to get the CM, it'll be money well spent & well worth the value. Cheers
  14. Sorry maybe i didnt make myself clear. MT20/25/30 all uses M-1 speakers as their main LRC & rear. I do suggest you try the 600 series as a 5.1 set up. It cost cheaper & the performance are more rounded in terms for music listening & movie watching. Btw, whats the damage if youre getting the CM series without the receiver? cheers
  15. Definetely. Just look at the specs of the CM5 & a M-1 speakers. David vs Goliath. cheers
  16. Hi You can consider the Yamaha 765. I rate that better than the 608. Do note Onkyo hasnt solve their over heating problems yet. Cheers
  17. Errr....if dardydar intends to get the CM series, its best to stay this course & use the M-1 as rears only. If he's decided to get the 600 series, there's the HTM62 as a center speaker. Likewise keep the M-1 as rears. Only MT20,25 & 30 make full use of the 5.1 HTS in the B&W series for satelitte speakers. cheers
  18. Both receivers quoted are applicable. The 708 is HDMI 1.4 compliant. cheers
  19. have u audition jamo speakers before? Then you'll know what i mean. cheers
  20. CM series speakers are acoustically good for music listening. It may over stretch the system if youre into home thearter. Nevertheless, u could opt for the 600 series B&W speakers to match with the M1 surrounds. For CM speakers, the matching amp would be those above 100W eg Yamaha 1065 or the Onkyo 707/708. How much were u quoted for the CM speakers? Cheers
  21. Warmer sound - do audition Monitor Audio or B&W speakers. I can 100% guarantee these 2 brands can out-audiophile Whardale. I happened to own Wharfdale when theyre used to be made from England. Nowadays its made in China. Their quality is really compromised. cheers
  22. Bro' what receiver are u using? Ensure the room is silent when doing calibration. cheers
  23. Bro Rule of thumb - small speakers adjust crossover to 120Hz. Big speakers adjust to 80Hz. Phase, toggle it to find best position. Dont place sub so close to the wall. Give it some space to breathe. lastly, your volume may be too loud. If all else fails, get yourself a good subwoofer cable. It should solve any problems. Cheers
  24. Adelphi - KEC, EW77 (B&W speakers), AVOne. Stroll around there. cheers
