Ms_White I'm using the aluminium retractable kind of bamboo pole. Quite stylo milo. Sold at the row of shops below my flat. It costs around $10 ea and its quite lasting. Length wise, I think its around 2.5m when fully extended. I'll take a pic and show it to you when we meet up. (^_^)

Yah Yah! I love the Teochew Pau, esp the Kong Bak Pau. It's bite sized and not too fatty. Good! Btw, there's a website that recommends the good food in TPY. Not too sure if it encompasses all that you guys have mentioned but do go try it out! http://www.goodfood.sg/toa_payoh Btw, There's also a Nepalese eatery at Blk 95 Lor 4 TPY (I think). Hi shercjw Sorry for the late reply as I left my laptop in the office and was on mc for the past few days. My ID's idea was to use mirrors to cover majority of the ugly wall tiles in the toilets that HDB supplied. This will help to make the bathroom look bigger and allow us a 360 degrees view of our bodies. Havent started reno yet so cannot let you see a sample. But Blk 79C 39 Storey 5rm flat is using same ID. If they allow, can go see see look look. !!

In it has a file which advices us on what to look out for when choosing a contractor for renovation, what to include in the contract, what to look out for during and after reno and how payments to the contractor should be made. I suppose not everyone can fork out cash for the renovation? And the only way to be able to renovate the place is to get a bank loan? Furthermore, we do not know that IDs have the right to find out about our information even thou they were the ones who got the banks to contact us. The application's between us and the bank. Right?

Hi everyone, Need your advice on something. If we are applying for renovation loans from the banks, thru the recommendation of the ID, is the ID entitled to know about the application status directly from the bank? With the Privacy Act, isn't there anything we can do to prevent the ID from getting info from the bank? I mean, these are all private info, why can they obtain the info from the bank without our permission? I talked to the bank and they even feel obliged to have to give info to the ID in order "not to break the long standing relationship" with the ID. Is this correct? Anyway to stop this? Esp the IDs can even get to know our credit history from the bank with this application....

Oh no! I've just been kak-tok by Substance!! Went to see the contract I signed and realised the total I have to pay for relaying my tiles will be: $4758!! Meaning, it will cost me $2379 per bathroom! Wah! Ok, here's what the quote says: 1)Supply Labour and materials to overlay Anti-Slip Homogeneous Floor Tiles @ 2 Bathrooms: $688. 2)Supply Labour and materials to overlay Anti-Slip Homogeneous Wall Tiles @ 2 Bathrooms: $2570 3)Suppply and Lay Motar Base Cement Screed @ 2 Bathrooms Floor and Wall: $1500 Grand Total: $4758!! Wah biang! To think I actually signed with him? And why would I need antislip wall tiles for? I don't walk on the walls... Ms White: Wat was the amt he quoted you?

Hi a-star I went to get a quote from them before. Was served by a lady named be***ly. She was very friendly and warm but don't think she really know abt interior design coz she suggested some ideas which are totally unworkable for our flat. We didn't bother to go back to her after her first quote Hope this info helps! (^_^)

Dear Neighbours We finally decided on Eesy from Substance and signed on the dotted line today. However, its all subject to approval from the bank loan. If loan's not approved, then nothing can be said and done. Kind of stressed now..... Thinking of how to service the loan later. Think hubby's very stressed also. Aiyoh..... The HDB contractor who is doing the cement screed for us for FOC just called me. As my concept for the kitchen is just to have cement screeded floor, he asked me if I want him to cement screed my floor nicely for me. Alamak! Arent they supposed to cement screed nicely irregardless of what I'm going to do to the floor? Then he said in chinese" if you want me me to screed nicely for you, then you must give us some ........" Har? What happened to integrity and professionalism? What does he mean by I must give him ...... to cement screed my floor nicely for me? Isn't he supposed to cement screed nicely and I am not supposed to pay him? Sigh... The reno for my new flat doesn't seem to be going smoothly so far.....

Ms White Don't worry abt Uncle Bernard's quote for the 1 month promo ending wed. When I went for the Gracious Home exhibition at Expo on 13 Oct, they also told me about the same promo. The only diff is that they said that the promo will end when the exhibition ends. The fact that it has dragged till wed (as what they have quoted for you) means that it can and will drag somemore since they want your business. I think their promo is very flexi one. Alister, Strawberry, Bonkitty Thanks for your advice on pils. Hmm... Seeing how stubborn they are, chances are they wun bother about all explanations, esp 30 years ago, they did the same thing, meaning they did their floors then the rest comes in slowly.... Went to meet Mr E from Substance again today. Was quite happy and pleasantly surprised that he managed to keep more or less to our budget and remembered what we wanted. As compared to Mr A frm Unimax, he's really very good liao. However, my hubby simply cannot agree to sign with him leh... Don't know what he doesnt like abt Mr E. Mebbe he's worried abt financial wise and the tie-in period for the show flat... Brought pil up for the 1st time today. I simply really buay tahan them leh. They want us to just do up the flooring for the house and forgo the kitchen cabinets, toilets etc. Everything can come in slowly wor.... My goodness!! How can we move in without the kitchen? And they simply cannot agree with our ideas for our study and the toilet... Can they just remove all their old pple thinking and go along with us a bit? Its OUR house afterall. Not theirs!! I really a bit buay tahan... Everything must insist on their way. Then we cannot let them know we got a Fengshui guy to come up too. Think hubby stressed liao... Face black black for the whole day after tt. Wife and p going to fight liao... Hehehe.... Can't wait to finally decide on our ID and get started on the reno. I want to move into my home sweet home...
