  2. Sorry for the very late reply. Haven't been checking in here lately. We used black glass for the top kitchen cabinets. You might want to think twice if you cook often though, cos the oil marks will be quite obvious. No so much a problem for us cos we don't cook very much. Hope this helps.
  3. Hihi. Thanks for the compliment. Must thank my ID for the job well done. Yes, I went there few days back but most of the stores are still not open. They probably want to reopen after the CNY hols. Looking forward to all the stores opening soon so that I can have more yummy food to choose from! Happy CNY!
  4. Hi zeegi, Thanks for visiting my blog! Your renovation seems to be progressing well. All the best in your reno works!
  5. What your ID said is true... the edges can be quite sharp. Not advisable if you have kids at home. I have emailed you the photo. Hope it helps.
  6. Thanks for all the feedback! mwerks, the site I'm using to host my photos is currently down. Can't post it. PM me your email if you want me to send you the photo. Actually there's no handle, just the sleeve at the top where you can grip to pull the drawers/doors out.
  7. Yes, the kitchen is indeed a little small. That's why I decided to tear down the walls and replace it with glass instead. But consider this only if you don't cook very much. If not you'll have a fun time cleaning the glass panels... I'm not exactly sure what's the name of the cloth used for the curtains. I just picked from the catalogue there. The first thing I considered was whether I wanted "black-out" material or those that allow a lot of light through, or in between. That helped me narrow down my choices significantly. Not exactly glass... it's black mirror. I choose black mirror so that there'll be a nice black-and-white contrast between the top cabinets and the bottom ones. I got my dining light from a shop at Shaw Plaza call Thomson Lighting.
  8. After a long wait, the photos of our home taken by a professional photographer (hired by our ID firm for their portfolio) are finally here! I think it is a good closing to the renovation cum moving-in phase that marked the start of our new life in this new home. In retrospect, the whole process of preparing this new home has been an interesting and enjoyable one. Of course it is not without quarrels, frustrations and disagreements that, I suppose, are inevitable in every household working towards their ideal home. Sourcing for the IDs, choosing the right one, planning the home layout, picking the most suitable tiles, monitoring the renovation work progress, placement of the furnitures, packing up at the old home and moving in to the new one... they are all bits and pieces that makes up the fond memories of this phase of our life. To those of you who are currently planning or renovating your new home, all the best to you and may you find the same joy that we have experienced during ours.
  9. Thanks Dove. No issues with the overlayed tiles at all. What kind of leakage are you worried about? Leaking into your neighbour's ceiling below? It's precisely because of this concern that new flats are not allowed to hack the toilet tiles. HDB does not want to damage the waterproof layer below. Overlaying the tiles just means plying another later of tiles over the existing ones. At least there's no issue for me currently. We got our curtains from MGL Curtains & Furnishing (63920373). It's at Lavendar St, Eminent Plaza. Reasonably prices and helpful staff. It's quite recommended in many other forums. That's where we got to know about it in the first place.
  10. I may have somehow given you the wrong impression that it is a full height glass. The bottom portion is actually a storage area. I believe a photo will clarify it all. In my opinion, 10mm is good enough. Although if you want it to start right from the floor, 12mm may be better, in case something like the vacuumm cleaner crashes into it. Hope this helps. We got it for $570 from this shop at Shaw Plaza call Thomson Lighting. We like this piece of lighting very much. Now, it also functions as a wind chime due to individual glass pieces hitting each other when the wind blows.
  11. Hi everyone, very sorry for the late reply once again. I just returned from a 2-weeks overseas trip few days ago. Was not able to access the web while I was away. Thank you for all the compliments and I hope my replies don't come too late for those who are waiting for answers. The settee you're talking abt is quoted as "Low height daybed c/w cushion and storage purposes at window area in laminate finish". It cost me $1080. I'm not sure if my parquet floor is semi glossy or matt. Definitely not glossy. I suppose it's more towards the matt side.
  12. Sorry I can't remember the name, but there's a number in one of the plans given to me. It's AL20904. You can check with the suppliers if you're really interested. Should be Nippon paint. Regards The room you're talking abt is my Entertainment Room. You can refer to my earlier posts. The glass is 1 cm thick.
  13. Hi Yenming, Sorry for the very late reply. The curtain works cost us a total of $1500. The most expensive being the roman blinds. They are usually the more expensive ones.
  14. Hi Yenming, I just dug out the quotation. It cost me $1200 to do the settee. Hope the info helps... Regards
  15. Sorry, have been pretty busy lately so no time to reply here. Hi Junkay, thanks for the suggestion. We did think of that too... not so much for the cooling of the room at night (cos we don't usually sleep with the aircon on), but rather to cut out the light when the study room light is on. Hi Babytan, we didn't buy the mirrors separately. Both the mirrors in the bathrooms were provided by my ID. Personally, I think a round mirror will still go with your squarish basin. So what did you choose ultimately? Hi Yenming, my vanity top is pretty small. Would have liked it to be bigger, but the bathroom's really small to start with, so we could only build a small one. It's probably around... 90-100 cm? For the kitchen cabinets, the top parts are all black mirrors. The lower cabinets are all plain off-white laminates. If you cook much, then probably not too good an idea to have too much glass or mirror in the kitchen.
