  1. :(I can only say I am ultimately disappointed with the HDB and SG system... I have personally gone to HDB to enquire my eligibility to purchase a HDB and after checking my NRIC, the officers (once in Feb 2015 and another on 2 July 2015) confirmed that I can buy under the single scheme. I had clearly mentioned that I am married overseas but did not register the marriage in Singapore as my spouse had refused to do so. But now, I have brought my son ( a Singapore citizen and currently attending school in Singapore) back to Singapore to settle down and we want to apply for a flat so that we would not need to squeeze in my parents' tiny flat with 5 other adults occupiers. I also explained that I am only here with my son and we want to settle in Singapore so that he can receive his education here as a Singapore citizen and I will also be able to contribute as a working adult to the society. Also, my spouse will not be willing to come to Singapore. The officers clearly confirmed that if this is the case, they would advise me to apply under the Single scheme. Subsequently, they sent me a letter stating that I cannot apply under single scheme as I need to include my spouse as occupier to form a family nuclear in order to be eligible. Now, this is not possible and my spouse refused to sign on the acknowledgement form. I have already confirmed a flat to buy and registered for the first appointment. Now if I were to cancel the deal when it was HDB whom gave me wrong information in the first place, I will have to forfeit my deposit ($1k + 4k) plus other penalty charges which I will not be able to pay for! Can anyone advise any previous similar experiences or things that can happen or actions to be taken? Thank you for reading this.
