  1. Mine is 70% of my lights from taobao. Didn't encounter any issue except for a e27 filament bulb that didn't work. I ordered the lamp housing and was not expecting a bulb to be sent to me anyway so it was not an issue.

You can see some pictures if you look at my tblog. You may even see the same thing sold in local stores, balestier etc...

No safety sticker even if you buy them locally anyway. They need high volume of sales to be economically viable to run compliance testing I believe.

if you are really concerned about insurance then you would probably need to use very reputable brands like from Phillips lighting store. I have 4 LED downlights from them. Very very pricey (did not notice any sticker either) That 4 pieces plus a dimmer switch alone cost the amount I pay for lighting for the rest of the house.

That's stainless steel water pipe from Taobao. Too bad my contractor's plumber cannot remove the bottom pvc pipe from hdb completely. Some regulation requirement to leave a certain height from the ground.

Still thinking whether to paint over or attach some metal rings ard it.

Rustoleum (selffix DIY) have some metallic chrome sprays you can try out.

Wow, this is gorgeous. Is that the marble contact paper from your console table? Can share where did you get the contact paper from?

For the console table, the contact paper was ordered from Amazon. Plenty out there, i just chose the one that had very good reviews.

But I later found another one(almost the same?) in homefix DIY store which you saw in the ikea tray.

After collection of keys, I engaged Absolute Inspection to inspect the defects of my house... Is it required? honestly I dun think so... since I am doing reno... but becos I am kind of lazy, and also dun really know how to check... and I got tiles from HDB, I decided to spend a bit more to buy assurance...Anyway, some seniors say, use marble or coin knock knock will know... but i really dunno... and maybe lazy...

To my amazement, I did not know there are so many that are considered as defects (which BSC agreed during joint inspection).. OMG... A little read up on Absolute Inspection will know that the boss, used to be a scholar from BCA... so I think he know the limits whether which is defect and which are within the tolerance...  Below are the pics with taggings... like free of charge like that... lucky no hollow tiles...

There's a remote for us to push the button to open the lock. We leave it on our shoe cabinet but there's a holder for you to install on the wall.

Thanks, I suppose there a manual key override? In case the remote dont work. You are not trapped inside.

There are so many diff acrylic board at DAMA, which one did u choose?

    Hi xiang38,

decide on the color first and then the choices left are not that many. Then you decide the light transmission level and whether non, 1, both 2 sides are textured.

I do not know which will produce the best effect, i went with PL449 just to try out. It Is gloss on both sides.

I think the outcome is acceptable for my master bath, but not for my common bathroom as too low light transmission.

I'm thinking of exploring the type with higher light transmission and single side textured as I believe that would give more even lighting.

thanks @Changbp it was very helpful..... anyway do you have any idea if ikea got sell any sensor light for sliding wardrobe ?

Because i wanna slide my wardrobe and there is light inside... you got what i mean

Yes they do, Look for Striberg led strips..

however I believe you will need a power point inside your wardrobe for it to connect to. So if you have not made your wardrobe you need to communicate this to your carpenter early so he can hide the wiring.

Oh....... that LEDs bulb did you bought in taobao too??

T5s, strips, recess spotlights and track lights from taobao.

E14 and e27s I got from ikea as those that came with the light housing having these bases were mostly tungsten filament type which I replaced.

I still have 1 bulb I left as tungsten filament as that was a special shape(something like Edison bulbs) and was not able to get the same shape on LED form.

  9. Looks like your cat is really enjoying the sofa...

I used to be a cat owner. Non of my sofas (...yes more than 3 I think) regardless which type survived their claws. Fabric, leather, PVC.

there are various methods, training, sticky tape, though non of them really worked or need a lot of effort except for a boundary spray. I think the smell of the spray is too strong so I just let her destroy my sofas.

  10. Hey, We have the same bobbyn door panels. I actually contemplated a long time between grey and off white. Eventually I settled for off white.

i also have the glass panels. Though I only did 2 panels glass as I do not have so many stuff to display. Have a lot of junk that needs to be hidden.

if you have not included LED lights inside. Do consider it if you have nice porcelain or glassware to display.

  11. Did a real quick and cheap mod to the bathroom box up that covers the piping.

took out the egg crate lighting diffuser and measured them. I can see the pipes thru it which I didn't like. However these diffuse lights better and allow more light thru then my mod.

paid a visit to Dama trading. Had free coffee while had them cut out in acrylic my egg crate dimensions and replaced them for master bathroom.

cant see the pipes now... :D

Although the light is not as uniform as before but my bathroom looks way more sophisticated now...

    The bomb shelter rack.

Designed a simple L rack to cater to my needs.

If I were to make it from aluminum profiles & laminated plywood it would probably cost around $300. I see there are standard boltless racks out there that looks pretty cheap(at least the flyers pasted at the lift looks cheap). Asking for quotes now to see if they can make it in the dimensions that I need. I wonder how much this configuration will cost?

Completed this by hacking 2 sets of ikea hejne. racks. It was quite flimsy, so I bought additional legs(cheap!) and braced the bottom, and 4 corners were "T"-braced for better rigidity.

i made a feature to allow the right bottom shelf swivel-able that if I have tall items that needed to be placed at the bottom the lowest shelf can lifted up for more headroom. Below pic shows the bottom right shelf lifted.

    27099827782_ab0984b89b_b.jpg

As the shelves were standard width I had to shorten them to make a 250mm clearance for tall objects like my ladder. So the right shelves were hacked with a jig saw.
