    I felt I should have now paid more attention to my washing machine because my new flat has no ceiling poles to hang clothes and to hang outside I am a little scare of the height to put the long poles outside.

    So I don't even know what I bought has dryer or not :(

    Let me know if any good good dates in January for moving house

    hi reno kakis, hope the long weekend was great! I took the time to catch up with friends and family as well as checking in on the home renovation.
    Although contractor Desmond was away for the holiday, his workers were working throughout the eve and Christmas Day. Much has been done but some are not so visible to the eyes especially the wiring process which involves a lot of detailed work.

    Desmond came back yesterday and he went to check on the house and had a shock of his life.
    Messaged me " How come the gas meter is sitting outside cabinet and on the floor?"
    My reply : I don't know.. installer said so.... and he even change it to the blue one as slightly more compact
    Desmond : Cannot la.... hide it hide it. Ask him to come back! 8|
    anyways I have convince him (and myself) that we can leave this ancient meter as a decorating item.

    After we went down to Chinatown Food Center to look for some food. See what we found??? CRAFT BEER and BEER ON TAP. We are very very happy to have this downstairs of our new flat as we settle in for a beer and to the blaring Korean pop

    They are opened only at nights and there is a small crowd enjoying their beers in a totally unoriginal setting. CHEAP AND GOOD They are hidden in the corner and have to cross a very very short "link bridge" on the same floor and same building. What they need now is someone to open and sell some cheap and good tapas to top it off!

    ON TAP #02-262 - serves their own beer, brewed in good old Bukit Batok!

    I dont think your place is messy at all and it feels very homey and cozy. Great job even though it was fast hand and fast leg :) Actually your sofa set evem though in the wrong colour looks like it is in the right setup now. It goes with the floor tiles and provides a gentle contrast.

    Just curious how come your aircon piping looks like it is running though the top lourve window?

    Pop by to the flat today because the citygas was coming to fix the stucked valve. Realised that my contractor's own electicians are still at work on christmas eve. I think my contractor know that I am quite OCD so even instructed them to provide conduits even though the downlights are in the false ceiling.

    WIRING

    Nice white conduits even though they will soon be hidden in the false ceiling.

    Photo 1 - Cabling to hide in the partition wall of my wardrobe. Lots of cables that at times it makes me rethink if I should reduce the number of lights and switches. silly but contractor told me even if few still have to run.

    Photo 2 - I have bought matt black switches and their electrician helped me to spray the back casing to matt black too. There was no intention to run black conduits but contractor felt is looks better than white, so here they are.

    Electrician showed me this little rocket lookalike and actually it is a laser point which automatically draw a straight line. Hahah, i still though they pull the power points by measuring. Can you see the red line showing hte crookedness of my column built 42 years ago?

    Haha.. its quite breezy in the yard and also no direct flats opposite so I think can have privacy and enjoy the blue skies while taking a D***. :wacko: Actually the shower screen is planned for clear glass but now having 2nd thoughts because if someone in the shower then emergency for WC our guest will have problem using it. So practicality verus aesthetic..?

    That's a super daring concept! :jawdrop: At least the steam won't accumulate in your toilet :notti:

    Fatcat, I have hacked the dividing wall and leaving the WC as open concept with no doors le.. very airy when doing business.. hahah

    There is a vertical copper pipe in the WC area and cant be removed because it is the water supply from outside.. sian hor

    The other 2 copper pipes are my hot/cold water supply which will ran all the way to my basin and heater storage.

    Lux, I think you are smart! Put 2 aircon back to back on the beam... why I never thought of that?! Then i can have my 3 aircon... oh well... nmind save a bit $$. Your bedroom trunking similar but I wanted mine to be lower so the bed can camouflage them.

    Bathroom: yours v big leh, 2 combine ah? just the low beam a bit bummer.. cannot remove ah? The copper pipes are what? Citygas? How come I dun have? Copper looks pretty, like your wall!

    Likely will make use of hols to settle the lighting issue... will text you!

    How come it is looking so thin? I am opting for kompacplus because I like the sleek look?

    As for the Dyson fan, i don't really like it because I find the wind distribution is not very good. My sister owes the original one and during really warm days it is quite frustrating. Its good when it compliments the aircon.

    I like Otto for the look and its also the name of my mongrel saved in OTTO ristorante. LOL

    I think it is that the compressor is outside the window of the MBR and you can see the elephant trunks going into 2 different locations . One snaking right out and the other bunch out to another room. No choice because system 4 definitely have even more cables.

    Art, how come converge at bedroom? Isn't there another drainage?

    Aircon Trunking

    The dreaded trunking which drives us to tears. Instead of running the drainage pipes to the bathroom, the installer suggested to drain it to the kitchen basin trap We just need to have the plumber get an L-shape adaptor to have the water flow into the straight up kitchen drainage pipe.

    As for the trunking itself, there is no escaping it so we miminise it by having the living room and dining room aircon installed back to back on the over hanging column. In this case, have to cut the hole at the false ceiling. Aiyah.. but then the trunking also needs to be crooked to facilitate flow... mama mia!!!!!! pulling my hair out!!!!

    In this photo, you can see the distinct crookedness. the other pipe runs directly behind this column.

    KS Toh, your memory very good ! I am also getting the Eubiq and actually tthey have a "blank" track for those sensitive areas where you will not be using powerpoints. These is just to help with aesthetic, Perosnally I am having them over the preparation kitchen rather than the hob/sink area as too small to make good use of the Eubiq

    wow, you really incorporated the Eubiq into your kitchen. Luxexplorer mentioned getting it too.

    I think it is very elegant. My main worry is whether the rated 40A maximum per track is sufficient. Maybe you can only have 3 appliances switched on each time?

    I see th e track also runs behind your tap. Will the water backsplash into the track?

    Nextstep, you have to stop worrying as your home is very pleasing to the eye. it is 90% complete so nothing too weird is going to pop up now. You mentioned your countertop is installed but how come I see only a thin wooden countertop?

    PS: that OTTO fan is too tempting...you really poison people le

    Because yours is a system 4 and thats why the trunking are looking like the elephants trunk :) Fatcat sacrificed 1 aircon in order to reduce trunking meaning she went from having 3 aircons blowers to only 2 now.

    Since your home is colourful and full of creativity, I am sure that "ugly" boxed up can be designed to otherwise. A pop of colour or a painting on it will transform it i am sure

    Some(understatement?)Hiccups

    Been too busy to visit the site till 2 days ago for the aircon piping and eletrical wiring day. What a mayhem of wires and i think old flat presents more issues with many coloumns around and cant drill through them. I think any contractor who can manage an old resale flat renovation well, for sure the BTO will be a bliss

    - First we realise that my ceiling is very low at only 2380mm original height. Adding on the ceiling fan will lower it to about 2100mm and my BF he is already 1.9meter tall. With that little leeway and no coffeetable in the middle to prevent an accidental "slicing off the fingers" (haha, kidding), we decided to exclude the ceiling fan. So I had to sell off my Elmark Aeronamics 52" celing fan which i like very much. boohoohoo.

    - Then we realise that the shower area has a very low beam in the MIDDLE of the ceiling (see photo below ) and my rainshower cant fit as the arm would hit the beam We then went to the shop and cancel the item and end up buying a different set from GROHE.

    - Then there is one sewage pipe here, another neighbours' sewage pipe there, one water pipe there, one atenna here and all cant be remove.... OMG. Although box up is a soluton but I dont want to shrink the already compact home with unnecessary waste of space.

    - The windows guys came and then told me cant install because my area here too busy with lots of cars parked and lots of people walking. Being on the 17th floor, the concrete might fly further and damage someone or vehicle. So have to return next monday when the market is not opened and they can condone off downstairs for installation!

    - The city gas people came to install the pipes at 8am and proceed to tell me that the valve is stuck, possible previous uncle has always used the countertop gas burner stove ( like what we use for steamboat). So now I have to call them again and someone else will come fix the valve and will use a rubber stopper till 2nd appointment will be to install the pipes = delay for kitchen cabinets to go up! (NO SMOKING PLEASE)

    On the same day, I saw some workers knocking on my neighbours home which I told them they are away for holiday. They told me as part of the on-going upgrading programme in our HDB neighbourhood, one of the upgrade is the replacement of gas meter, as shown below.The "newer" one is smaller.....! Here is when I realise the old house gas meter is indoor :jawdrop: because uncle didnt use citygas so there was never a meter and I just presume that its like my previous homes - Outside!!

    Now I will have a new "accessory" to my modern rustic home.

    Open concept WC and the shower area

    The yard and toilet tiling has finally complete and I love the tiles so much :) We had a little hiccup as I insisted to have the copper pipings inside the wall and tiled up agreeing to take full responsibulity should HDB gives problem. When the plumber arrived he refused to do citing his license at risk which I totally accepted. So we called back the tiler to complete the job before the plumber returns. If you followed my post, you will know that the copper tiles were meant for the floor but because we prefer to camou the copper pipes we decided to swap them and have the copper tiles on the wall instead. Here is the result

    - The opening gap between the tiles is to install the Uchanel inside for supporting the fixed glass panel.

    - Big fat pipes . 2 pipes on the left and another one on the right (just for shower area alone)

    Step up kerb for the inward opening glass door. I like the good job done by the tiler. His work has been immaculate so far. Lots of work involved because I shifted the direction of my shower glass door to an angle instead of straight. So they had to use cement to re-shape it, cut the tiles to do the job.
