  1. Where can we buy the piece of acrylic / perspex from? I think it should be quite easy to DIY if can get the electrician to pull the wire for me. Then all i have to do is buy the piece of acrylic, get glass cutter to cut and fix it in myself.
  2. Yah, I read abt it. In fact, I was just there this afternoon to upgrade to a system 4. The salesman name is Desmond and he still push for Mit HI. So we stick to it but paid $3509 for it. He said Toshiba & Mit HI is the same price leh... We paid $250 already & dont want to waste the money. OK, maybe better switch call him to switch to Toshiba. Thanks for the info.
  3. Wah... really. So the price quite resonable la. Maybe will just get contractor to do it then. thanks
  4. Yes, Hong Kwang. Older model. He said good enuf, so need to spend $100+ on new model. Just get the $50 or $65 one can already.
  5. HI, I want to install tempered glass door for my kitchen as I am installing aircon in living area. My ID quoted me $700+ which I thot was too much. Any recommendations where I can get cheaper?
  6. Went down to the shop at Kelantan lane. The man recommended me the "older" model. He said good enuf for small toilet. Round one $50, square one $65. His contractor said $150 for installation which includes removing old shutters, new perspex. Only wiring he said ask my electrician to do for him since I'm renovating. How $150 reasonable for installation?
  7. Anyone bought this model?? I'm considering between the RH-90CD and RH998C. Of course the new model is nicer & stronger suction. I'm just wondering if that makes it louder also. I called Rinnai & the man said, suction stronger of course louder.... dont think he's a very good salesman! I cook a lot! But I cant take it when the hood is so loud. Comments pls.....
  8. Thanks. I have really been learning a lot from here. Wish I had found it sooner. I get my key next week & I have only 5 weeks before i need to move in so reno better go as planned.
  9. Found another one... www.pristineh2o.com.sg fyi to anyone else who is interested.
  10. Need some advice. Anyone had installed a water filter under the sink. I saw it a Bellari and thot that it was a good idea as I have very limited counter top space (with a triangle kitchen!!). Problem is I'm not buying sink from Bellari. The alternative is Diamond water but that is $1000+ Anyone used any other brand? And is it really a good idea to install under sink? Any possible problems? MTIA
  11. I wont say that its necessary. Most sinks come with a normal strainer. The good thing is that this one comes with 2 strainers, one on top and another one like a basket inside with smaller holes. Since I have maid at home, i thot its better to get this type.
  12. The one I chose is $300. Comes with one big sink, one small round one & one small one at the top to put the soap/sponges etc.
  13. Just wondering on the question above. Find that the electrical quote for our place is just too expensive. The bulk is in the Lbox wiring for downlights. $35 + 10 for each point. Total estimate is $1800. Does contractor usually allow us to choose our own electrician if we can find cheaper quote? Anyone can recommend one please.
  14. That's cheaper than my quote. New lighting pt $35 + installation $10 = $45 Plus New power pt for aircon compressor = $120 What is this for? I thot all HDB standard got powerpoint for aircon. My total electrical is $1800. I think it's too expensive. Can anyone please recommend cheaper electrician.
  15. My husband and I spent so much time asking every sales person of different shops abt the undercoating. The ones which sell sinks undercoating of course say that its good while the ones that dont have say not necessary. From my research I found out that the undercoating serves 2 purpose, one is anti-condensation so if u defrost meat in the sink everyday (like me coz got to cook!), the u will not have much "sweating" under the sink, which at the end of the day, perserves your wooden cabinet base. The other purpose is it makes the steel stronger against dents (dont know if this is true tho). All sinks should come with a black padding under the sink. This is for noise reduction and also has some anti-condensation effect. For me, I think I'm going to go for the MN sink at PJ. It has undercoating, padding and also comes with the waste bin in the sink hole. We enquired at some other shops that to change to the waste bin in $50 for each hole so got to add another $100! In addition, it comes with a blue basket for the smaller round sink and can buy a matching chopping board. I am not promoting the sink, just letting u know why we decided on this one.
  16. Ya... thot that it may be quite leh chey to clean but dont mind if it really saves space. Anyone knows where else can buy water filter besides bellari?? MTIA!
  17. I'm so angry with this company. First, we went there to buy PLC downlights, 20 pcs. We chose the glass cover type with 2 small screw to open the glass. When we went home, we saw that the screws instead of being small & flat are big and sticking out. We went back & they said they changed the screws coz easier to screw open & close. We didnt want it coz it doesnt look streamline. He should have informed us even before we bought that they had changed the design right? So we changed to other items. We wanted Ariston 30L storage heater but he recommended LA claiming Ariston got rust problem, bla, bla & so we took that. And also 2 ceiling fans with lights to make up the price. He showed us the fan photo from catalogue and we agreed. When we got home, we were shocked that the model is not the same as in the catalogue. He said, fan is the same but the light they changed the design. We told him that was not acceptable. Again, he didnt inform us that the item we are taking is not the same as the photo in the catalogue. We want the same one as in the catalogue. If dont have then he should refund us. There is nothing for us to exchange from the shop. In addition, we also found out from our contractor that LA water heater is not a good brand and he had the cheek to tell us LA better & even charge us $20 more than Ariston! We went back to change the water heater back to Ariston but no refund & now stuck with fans that we dont want & he refused refund! I am so angry I called CASE and submitted online. I dont really have time to go around shopping as I have 3 kids, work partime & my husband is travelling quite often. So when my relative recommended this shop we thot we could get a good deal. Instead we end up is this mess! Any advice please. Shirin
  18. Yup, we both like the idea. Just that the salesperson at Hoe Kee said shouldnt do it, cause the sink to damage easily. So my husband got worried.
  19. Anyone has any feedback on this brand. I've tried searching the archives but cant find info on this. We were actually looking for Mit E StarMex or Toshiba but the salesperson at Best Tech kept pushing this to us giving us all the plus points abt this product. He said all Mit products assembled in Thailand. For starmex we are paying for Jack Neo advertising when in fact Mit HI is better. Any feedback? Also is it true that inverter easier to spoil than non-inverter? We initially wanted inverter because have 2 units on every nite but my fren's place bought inverter and spoil after 18 mths. She said that repairman recommended not to buy inverter. Help PLEASE!
  20. Hi, I'm new to this forum & first time renovating my flat. Have questions abt kitchen sink. I am considering one sink at Bellari. The saleslady recommended me to also make additional holes for the soap dispenser & water filter. It seems like a good idea coz it will save countertop space but my husband is worried abt putting too many holes in the sink. Anyone has done this or can give feedback. Another sink I'm considering is MN at Poh Joo. Looks really solid & I like the design. Any comments. Dont have much time left as reno starts next week. Thanks
