  1. We have opened up the box to check and the quality looks good! Packed neatly and arrived in perfect condition. The rainshower and its parts are nice and solid, quite heavy also. It has yet to be fixed up by the plumber though. We will probably give a review once that is done!
  2. Yesss I saw! That's why feel scared about the colour. We tried asking him today and he said bobian, will be green green So he's helping us find out how much it'll cost for marble-look solid surface instead. Hoping the price won't be crazy!
  3. Hehe and I can't wait to properly unbox them after the reno is done and take them out to use! The colours are pretty!
  4. TAOBAO ORDER 3 (UNBOXED) Updating a bit on some items we received from the third taobao order.. (1) Rose Gold Clock - Rating: 4.5/5 Superbly cheap for a wall clock and very light (maybe because it's made of cardboard?). It looks true to photos from TB, just that it feels somewhat plasticky in person. You can't really tell from a distance though. Deducted 0.5 marks as there is slight unevenness on the colouring of some numbers. Worth purchasing if you are looking for smth cheap and don't mind that it's not super high quality. (2) Cotton Cushion Covers - Rating: 5/5 Material is the coaser/thicker cotton and the colours look nice! Sewing quality is good as well. Planning on getting more from this seller (3) Cushioned Stool - Rating: 5/5 Colour is more green than mint and material of the cushion is slightly coarse. Assembly is easy - we fixed it up while watching Train to Busan at home (awesome show by the way!). Bin did most of the work while King helped to tighten the screws at the end to ensure it is sturdy. Seat is quite firm but very slightly lumpy looking. Overall will still recommend as it costs only $14! Very good value for money. ... Also, the metal pull-out drawers also arrived in good condition. Yay! FINALLY With all the needed kitchen appliances and other fixtures delivered, we are finally ready to discuss the finer details of carpentry with Contractor E! Meanwhile, we've still got to decide on the ceiling fan for our living room. Did some research today but can't yet decide on one which comes without a light kit, looks nice and is economical. The search continues! Another thing to discuss with Contractor E tomorrow would be the countertop for our floating shelf in the master toilet. As it will be susceptible to water splashes from using the sink, E had previously suggested using either glass top or kompacplus. We're leaning towards using white coloured glass but worry that it might have a greenish tinge. Another option we'd like to consider is marble-look solid surface (or something similar) but he had dissuaded us from using solid surface for reasons I can't quite remember. Shall ask him again when we meet him!
  5. Ooh another option! Just curious, what's the pricing for them like? Excel's prices are a little on the high side for me which is why we got them from TB instead!
  6. Hey Mannequin, have tried sending you a PM for the below information but it seems your inbox is full! Self pick up location is at Sengkang. We don't have any extra photos of the sink & tap as I've not been to our new place recently. But I'm pretty sure the tap can be changed, since we see people changing from HDB taps to their own taps all the time. Just not too sure if a plumber is needed or if it's a simple DIY job
  7. Mid October.. Sounds like a fair bit of time but in reality it's real soon! Wise choice to split up the moving into two batches- which also reminds me that our targeted completion date is nearer than we think it is. gah, the stress
  8. Hmmhm maybe $30? We are not really looking to make a profit, just want to clear haha. PM me for more details!
  9. Hello @Mannequin! Yes and yes. Sink with pedestal is unused as we've yet to move in. The two are indeed our toilet doors! They will be replaced with bifolds/PD, and so we don't need them..
  10. Sameee. Gonna keep them aside till when there's guests. We expect lots of board games sessions with friends so the dining table will be extendable. Extra stools are a must! So fast prepping for the big move liao! When will the carpentry stuff be in and what's the estimated completion of your place? And and how many phases will the move be in? I've got to start planning too ~~
  11. Wha so decisive! Impressive leh. Most people take ages to decide on laminates hahah. We've got two booklets of laminates with us, will go see if can find that page
  12. Haha usually I'll write 将运输国外,请加强包装。(will be shipped overseas, please strengthen packaging) Some sellers won't bother and some will oblige. And then there's those who wrap it with boards on all sides haha. Might need to top up for this kind!
  13. BRING ME HOME! (Selling Post) Hey guys, we've got some spare parts lying around which we'd like to give away/sell at a nominal price. As our place is a SOBF, the previous owners chose to opt in for some components and we won't be using all of them. Please note that some hardware parts (i.e. hinges, door handles) may not be in perfect condition as they have been unused in our home for the past 2 years collecting dust, but they still function as they should. Anyone who's interested in the below items please PM me! Technically we paid for them with our CPF so please offer a token sum As long as its reasonable we should be ok! Self pick-up at Seng Kang area. {ITEMS ALL CLEARED}
  14. CURRENT RENO STATUS Sometime during this month we also managed to get the aircon folks to drop by our place for some minor stuff, such as sealing up some gaps left between the aircon trunking and external wall alongside aircon ledge. And yes, our unit is one of those where you look right at the aircon ledges from the corridor so one of us fiercely stared at them watched them patch up the gaps from the corridor haha. The condensation pipe was trimmed as well. All it took was a quick snip on their super sharp pliers/scissors which only needed 2 seconds to complete The edge is still a little rough so we may get some sandpaper or smth to smooth it down. And since the workers had nothing else on the agenda after they helpfully took their silicon gun and ran it through the edges of all trunkings within their reach. On our end, almost everything required for carpentry measurements is on standby at the house. The toilet bowl and master bathroom sink will be delivered this Thursday and we're still waiting for the metal pull out drawers from TB - which will here by end of this week hopefully. For those on a tight timeline, please ensure you get everything ready beforehand or ask for the schedule from your ID/contractor! Such as how many weeks after reno commencement should lightings and fixtures be ready for installation, electronics be on standby for carpentry measurements, etc. Since we are in no hurry to move in, our contractor wound up waiting for us to get our stuff ready. As of this week, our reno works have not seen any progress for about a month or so Which is fine with us, but rather anti-climatic lah.
  15. MINI UPDATE ON CHAIRS Our chairs purchased via Ezbuy Prime were delivered today! The deliveryman was quite kanchiong and basically ran off when we reached. So we decided to open up the boxes at the doorway where there actually is light. Last week upon returning from our holiday, Bin immediately dragged King went over to the new house after we had dinner, where we spent 1.5hr in the dark assisted by one dim table lamp to open up the previous batch of over 20 small packages of taobao items. #fml For reference, according to the packages' labels, the box on top is about 15kg volumetric weight/9kg actual weight, while the box below is 20.5kg volumetric weight/12kg actual weight. In reality, the box on top is bulkier though slightly lighter. Gingerly opened up the first box to find.. our coloured stools! And already assembled so we don't need to struggle with the screws. Yay! Only managed to spot the purple + white coloured ones from this end of the box but we like what we see! The purple is a nice pastel shade and the legs are made of wood. The outside of the legs have a clear varnish and we tried running our fingers along all sides of the chair legs, feels nice and smooth The legs of all the stools are bound together with cling wrap so we couldn't check them in its entirety but there was a small nick on the side of the 1st stool. Doesn't bother us too much but we've got to check if the rest of 'em are in good condition. The other box contains 2 dining chairs which needs some assembling. But similarly, the wooden legs feel nice, smooth and solid. And the seat portion has a pvc cushion which feels rather plush. Hopefully it will be comfortable! * * * Unboxing stuff is somewhat exciting yet super dull at the same time. Exciting to see what the stuff we ordered looks like in person and to touch/feel them. But the amount of dust and packaging we've got to work through is just... tiring. Plus, Bin informed some sellers to "加强包装" which means extra muscle is needed to uncrate certain items After going through the items received, we realized what's more important is how the item is packed inside the box and not really outside. In our opinion lah. So even certain items like glass shelves arrived in one piece despite it not having 加强的包装 (strengthened packaging) because the sellers packed them very carefully with pieces of styrofoam inside, which protected the items well. So unless you are very sure that the item needs extra protection, don't request it from the sellers if you aren't ready to pry open wooden frames full of splinters and staples.
  16. Your wall looks nice! Not seen anything like it before and It really is a standout piece The direction of the leaves on the tiles looks the same as the wall display to me.. *squints at screen*. If you can't unsee then I really do hope that your ID is able to change it accordingly! I also bought a light from taobao that looks very much like yours! The half wood, white white one shaped like a cake. But the wooden bit for mine turned out to be metal (I think) with wood-coloured printing on it - not actual wood Your progress looks pretty good so far. Can't wait to see more updates for your home!
  17. Hihi @rae! Where did your cute rainbow display pic go? Haha. The coloured stools are supposed to be delivered later today! But we won't be about to vouch for the quality till they are assembled which might be quite sometime later. What part of the quality are you worried bout? I.e. Wooden grains, splinters, paint/colour, how stable it is? Maybe I can check on that for you first
  18. Aiyoo @bykaraanne don't sad k, your home (and kitchen!) is already so so gorgeous. I'm still a little sad that it wasn't your place which E brought us to see see for workmanship haha. He def still keeps you close to his heart (lol). Heard him mention you a few times before already! Oh and do you still recall what shade of white your laminates are, or how you picked that particular shade of white? The husband is of no help where it comes to colours and I'm going mad trying to decide if the cabinets will turn out too white or yellowish in contrast to our subway backsplash. Not sure if there really isn't the perfect shade of white out there or if I'm just picky zzz
  19. Wah your place already sounds like it'll turn out nice! Herringbone patterns, shaker style cabinets.. Looking forward to see how things go for you too And speaking of cabinets, you're making me jelly too as i didn't even consider shaker style knowing it'd cost more! So tempting! Time to go and recalculate our budget since we saved a fair bit from taobao hmmhm..
  20. So jelly of your gorgeous gate! Was sorely tempted to change mine after seeing something similar on a fb advert (lol) but we decided to save the money since our gate is still new. Btw did the lemon water work in getting rid of the fumes in your home?
  21. Hello Cloh! Congrats on starting on your reno & may all go smoothly for you! The number of 'Huat Ahs' you and your husband did made me giggle Keeping the t-blog updated is a way to reassure myself that things are indeed moving for our home. And it helps to organize one's thoughts too! Also, feeling envious of (what's gonna be) your open kitchen! Reminded of the kitchen island/table below that I spotted previously. Very naise!
