Why do you need such an item if i may ask as this is a rather hard item to get unless you import it from overseas

What you say does hold some merit but let us not forget that mould can spread, so its better to kill it permanently instead using gap stop measures

I remember my friend's condo also has such holes and he said his contractor said it was due to age of the tiles as the marble expands and contracts over the years

Mold always occurs in areas with high moisture especially in toilets or rooms that are near toilets

You can also use something called HCL89 to restore your tiles back to its original self
I usually get it from http://hcl89.byethost10.com or http://hcl89.atwebpages.com
For me i find this the most effective in restoring your tiles back in situations like these
My 2 cents

Parquet is always the nicest, but the most difficult to maintain

Yes grinding to polish marble is not advisable as the marble will just become thinner and uneven

S$250 is daylight robbery, just get the chemical yourself and you can it yourself, no need depend on these contractors
You can get the chemical called HCL89.
I usually get it from http://hcl89.byethost10.com or http://hcl89.atwebpages.com
What it does is that it cleans your wall tiles/glass and also helps to create a protection for it so that always remains new.
Hope this helps you out
