Hi Apple, u seen the real thing before? Or just the pic? Not smooth u know, one patch one patch grey colour, dirty dirty look, if u go near, can see pimples, look like coffee shop toilet. But once painted, it looked so much better.
-
How come they never paint it? I think this looks nice only on picture. When u are physically there, u might find original cement colour is very dull. From the picture, it looks one patch one patch. I think would be nicer if it is painted. Goal Home : Contractor will most likely tell u cannot, but u can just go ahead and insist on doing it, should be OK. If i am not wrong, cement screeding is water resistant. If i know it earlier, i would have done it.

Has anyone seen storage bed there? How to get to sugei kadut by public transport? Are all those at warehouse display sets?
-
Hi, I was wondering, does anyone here use storage beds? Good or not? Is it resilient enough to withstand "nocturnal activities"?
-
Hi anyone has any cheap yet good plumber to recommend? I need to instal piping in toilets.

Hi Goalhome, Of course $2.60 does not include laying. This is the listed price at tile supplier shop. I pay labour separately. I saw some ceramic tiles costing only $1.50-1.60. My wall tiles and the grout lines looks level, so it does not seem difficult to clean. But still too early to say, maybe it is new, so it is level, after some time, maybe the grout might sunk in. Maybe u can choose pure while tiles, easier to clean, yet cheaper, u can use bleach (i think) Weiht & ngangie : I didn't know there is a third option to tiling & plastering. It is cement screeding, but i knew it only after i committed to the package, so too late. U can cement screed it and paint over, using normal nippon paint, no need to use epoxy. If the paint came off or become dirty, u can paint it every year, anyway one can of paint cost only $50. Every year your toilet looks new. I heard that cement screed can tahan water, but plaster cannot.

hi Komas, waiting for your photos, but how do u know the "white finish" is not plaster? Contractor told u?

Hey Eng98, i want to ask u, based on what u have experienced, if i cement screed the kitchen wall, and then ICI paint it (not epoxy), just cement screed without plastering, will it look OK? Or still look morpeng? Contractor now give me a choice, if i want to plaster in addition to cement screed, another $200. Is it worth to pay $200 to get the extra smoothness?

Your 1k include painting or not? Your situation is very cheem, timber+ teak + cement. I hope u get replies, i believe few people do this.

Hi does anyone knows where to get very thick curtains that could block away highway noise? Mine is a 3 room. Double glazed just the living room window will cost me thousand over bucks, so i am exploring to see if thick curtain could do the job at less costs. Or can 3 layers of thin curtain do the job? Also, do i need to get a higher capacity washing machine to wash curtains? I was thinking of getting 6.5kg LG washing machine, but not sure if the load can take thick curtains. Bway tahan the continuous car noise.

Hi just curious, why do u do cement screed? U like the look & feel? Few people do that. I believe u don't do it for costs, bec the last time i enquired about epoxy painting, it is the same price as laying, except that hacking costs is saved. For yours, cost of screeding plus laquer painting should be equal to cost of relaying tiles.

What is toning effect?

Hi, Contractor is doing plastering for my living and bedrooms, but cement screeding on kitchen walls. If i want plastering on kitchen walls, got to pay $200 more. Is cement screeding good enough to smoothen wall to a bearable condition? Anyone knows?
-
Hi ngangie, in the end i chickened out. Nobody does it, so i dare not try. I tiled it instead, but i chose a cheaper tile, $2.60psf. There are even cheaper ones, but not so nice.
-
Aiyo, I just chosen unpolished homo tiles, how? I chose it bec it is full body whereas ceramic is not heavy duty enough. Ceramic for top might not be resilient enough for your kitchen king king kiang kiang. That's why i chose full body homo tiles for the whole thing, including the top.

Hi Mace, what is the difference between item 8 & 9? Is it material difference or air tightness? When i read word by word, one is using aluminium and the other stainless steel. Item 8 does nto have air tightness?

I just called both HDB branch office and town council. They said they don't provide such services for resale.
-
Hi Mace, got frame one meh? Like doors? I thought just pluck out and put new one. Hi Vowsh, u do like this before? I need to call them and ask them bec mine is resale, not brand new flat. $80 is use good one or kuching kurat one?
-
Hi, Does anyone knows where I should buy HDB rubbish chute? Kelantan hardware area? Any brands to recommend? Thanks in advance.

HI missysg, really? $2. Which market? Does it still work or pai liao? **** man, i bought a crystal ceiling lamp $380, plus another crystal wall lights $165, at jalan besar. I think BKK sells cheaper. I think i will stop my light shopping in Sg for time being, till i make a trip to BKK. They say Guangzhou also have.
-
Skywolf/MissySg, Just want to share my findings with you. I am also shopping for lightings. I realise that Sg's lightings are not cheap. I believe they are imported from China or BKK and then marked up. Even those simple simple ones, no much design, no crystals, costs S$70-80. I don't remember seeing any ceiling lights in Sg that cost less than $50. My friend told me Chatuchak in BKK sells these cheaply. You can get things below S$20. He got his ceiling lights at S$8. Actually if it is ten dollars, I can take the risk, bec if it is faulty, can discard & buy new one. But the problem is the electrician's installation charges. So i am now looking around to see who knows how to fit lightings & teach me. Does not look difficult. In this way, as & when i feel like it, i can change it myself

Hi Mace : If you find 12w tornado too bright, it would seem like u have low tolerance of brightness. Now i am using circular lamp, & i checked its lumens. If i want the same brightness, i will need to use 2 tornados of 23W to replace one circular lamp. I also asked the shop people, they say 12W tornado alone is not enough, need at least 2. BUT, i certainly hope my theory is wrong, if one 12W is enough, that will be wonderful, means less electricity bill. For me, i lack fire element, so my living room must be bright bright. Hi Amoyz, I bought a 3 room resale. The lamps are not permanent fixtures. Somebody has to buy and put it on. If it is cheapo circular lamps or long horizontal flourescent, sellers can't be bothered to remove it, but if it is swarovki, i believe the seller will sure "BAN " it out. I don't think any seller is so generous. Since u like your old lamp, maybe u can CHARM SIONG with buyer to let u go back & BAN it out. Who knows maybe they don't like it, & want to discard. If you know how to BAN it, that will be great, but if u don't know, u need to get electrician, maybe BO HUA already. Actually the fitting & plucking out looks easy, but nobody teach me, i also dare not try, in case i touch the copper wire, & ascend to heaven instantly. Hi WaiLeong, I also want to fix crystal handles, very elegant, but think about next time if i move house, i must spend money to get the locksmith to remove it, i changed my mind. Labour is not cheap in Sg
