  1. As reno nears completion, I've been spending more time online trying to make last minute purchases suddenly I've spent a lot more on Amazon and TB, especially on kitchen stuff! Good brands to get on Amazon include Joseph Joseph, Umbra, OXO and simplehuman because they're all cheaper there than in SG. For kitchen/household stuff on TB, ASVEL and Boomjoy are worth checking out. But first, a tip to all looking to make mattress purchases. Robinsons annual bedshop sale is a great time to shop for them! I just got a Sealy Posturepedic Enhance Orthopaedic Support mattress lowered from $4.1k (mattress alone) to $3.5k for mattress AND bed frame. I didn't know which mattress to get so I went around testing everything for a long time but nothing felt as nice as the Sealy I chose! There's a 5+10% rebate with OCBC Robinsons card, GST absorbed, $100 top up for bed frame, further $200 off for making a bedshop appointment etc etc. Not all the promos apply to all models so you'll need to check with them. Besides bedshop sale, Black Friday is also a good time. Quite lazy to list out all the buys, so I'll just post a pic.
  2. Had the second aircon installation today! Yay to ac!! Nothing much to show, but I'm pleased with the overall worksmanship. Installation only took around an hour and it was much easier than the first installation. Also want to share with anyone looking to buy a stainless steel sink that you can't go wrong with Kraus. I was really, really impressed by the quality of the sink after I opened the box up. While the sink I got from Taobao was good, this sink is much heavier and thicker, even though they're of the same dimensions. Feels really solid. I guess 1.5mm and 1.2mm steel makes a big difference. The sound insulation padding on all sides are also much bigger and cover more area than the ones on TB sink. So yeah, my recommendation is to get a Kraus sink from Amazon if you really want a stainless steel sink.
  3. Thanks! I'm not sure what the official regulation is, but I've heard some others mention that. My ID didn't say so though. I think it's one of those things that many people do and hope it's ok. But if your contractor is very by the books then they'll refuse to do it.
  4. I felt ok when I tried the WC actually. But maybe for wider people the space will be too narrow, yeah
  5. Hi! Thanks the toilet wall tiles are from Hafary. Angel Avana and Angel Grigio. Can't remember the exact price but should be around $4.20 psf http://www.hafary.com.sg/collection/Tiles/Angel?id=360
  6. Wahhhh that's a lot of subway tiles!! How much did these tiles end up costing you pfr? Very nice!
  7. Did the inspection team spot any defects that really amazed you? Was considering engaging them too but in the end wanted to save the money. Did you ask what happens if at the next inspection, new defects are found? That's what happened for me and many neighbours, sigh
  8. Fan has been sold, thanks for the interest! Reno is nearing completion, and I'm really looking forward to moving in. All that's left is some aircon 2nd installation, quartz installation, kitchen glass door installation, some carpentry rectifications, painting touch up and clean up. With some luck, reno can be completed by the end of this week! Toilets have been done up with all accessories and glass installed. MBR bathroom is still waiting for quartz vanity top to be in. Tried out the Baron WC glad to say I love how it feels Hansgrohe Croma Select E with Logis mixer for MBR Common toilet with a wall hung basin. Grab bar for mom who will use the bathroom. Safety over aesthetics sometimes! Hansgrohe Crometta 100 Vario with Focus mixer MBR bathroom door. Went for the simplest design with frosted acrylic Thought about using the same door design for the common bathroom but decided to go for one with more privacy. Don't want guests feeling too exposed... lol. Frosted acrylic at the top and bottom $2 ceiling lights working very well!! Still happy about the cheap price
  9. Yay! Nice to see another 3 room t-blog. Your layout is pretty unique for a new flat, I think. Interested to see how the finished home looks like!
  10. Went down to my place to check it out after work today because works have progressed quickly after carpentry! So excited to see that the lights and fans are up. Not all lights/fans are installed yet, but most of it are. FINALLY. No need to suffer the darkness and stuffiness anymore! Pendant lights at the dining area. I like how these turned out so much! Gives me a cosy feeling. You can see the kitchen in the background Kitchen with track lights. Track lights can be switched between warmer and cooler lights. Quartz top isn't installed yet Close up of the Vento Fino 2 fan, wind is very strong! (I have an extra Vento Fino to let go in this colour, PM me if interested) MBR track lights and ceiling lamp. Ceiling lamp is the Xiaomi yeelight, love how it looks Another Vento Fino 2 in walnut for MBR Entrance ceiling lamp simple one, also very pleased with this Bedroom doors will be in tomorrow. Bathroom accessories will also be installed. Looking forward to handover day!
  11. I got the WC from Heritage Bathroom, for Baron they have the best prices. I'm not sure about Vera and Mayfair. I heard Hong Liang is a good place to check too. For paint colors, I looked at the catalog and the samples online. But for Dulux paint, you can buy a set of testers from Lazada to try the colors out. No such option for Nippon though. That's part of the reason why I went with Dulux!
  12. Congrats on reno completion!! The edges are visible because of not having ABS trimming, right? Did you ask if they can 'hide' the black lines using carpenter's paint? My ID mentioned that. Did you ask E to change the toilet panels to acrylic ones?
  13. Thanks!! Yes, $350 is possible! Try Baron, Vera, Mayfair brands. They're local brands but the most well known ones. Baron and Vera models have Geberit flush but Mayfair doesn't. I got my Baron W368A at $330 to try the different models you can go to Inzwerkz as they have a wide selection, but don't buy there because their prices are v high. Amazon Prime is a membership scheme, but to be honest their benefits are not great for non US residents. Prime Day is their version of Black Friday, so there are some good deals. You can sign up for a month's free trial after the membership has lasped for 12 months, you can sign up for another trial, lol
  14. Went to my new place to receive some deliveries. Place is in a real mess Baron WC is here! Waiting to be installed in MBR bathroom. Ceiling lamps for bomb shelter and service yard. $2 each I think it's really worth it but will have to see how it looks after installation Bidet sprays for both toilets. They're the top selling ones on tb so I just got them. Very heavy and smooth in my hand! Soap holder for MBR bathroom Also saw some carpentry updates... MBR vanity with countertop basin
  15. Carpentry arrived yesterday and installation will take place over 3-4 days! Finally there's some progress again Went down to check on the place today and the house is in a mess! Lol. Many random pieces of carpentry laying around. I have to say the worksmanship looks quite good so far. Can't wait till I can see the completed works! My shower sets and mixers also arrived via DHL!! Finallyyy. Word of advice, if you are buying from xtwostore, buffer at least a month of waiting time! But in the end, the savings are still worth the wait. Sharing some pics of the carpentry installation in progress Shoe cabinet installation is completed! That's the only completed piece so far. Didn't opt to cover up the bomb shelter door because I'm fine with it, and I didn't want to make the space look even smaller MBR casement wardrobe, no doors fixed yet. Frames are grey Common bedroom wardrobe with mirror pull out Kitchen cabinets with microwave cut out, I'm still sad the space I have is so small.. View of kitchen from the living room. Sink will be on the counter facing the living room. Wall has been painted grey too. I think installation will carry on into next week. Hopefully the workers can complete by midweek!
  16. I'm not getting a rainshower, but my neighbour who is using Macro + Grohe rainshower says the pressure is fine! Thanks for the encouragement! I'm still finding it a daily struggle trying to fit things into such a small space and making it look nice. Sigh. 3 room woes, seriously. Looking forward to your blog
  17. Hi! Thanks! It's Universal Grey from Dulux https://www.dulux.com.sg/en/colour-palettes/universal-grey. Code is 00NN 62/000 And yes! Got that common toilet basin from Heritage, hahaha. Thanks! I will post a short review after I install the light. I just bought more yeelight from TB! You could still ship the Echo Dot over via ezbuy, it's only $3.99 for shipping Thanks @bovi. I'm glad the colours turned out as neutral as I liked too.
  18. Haven't been updating in awhile because we finalized our carpentry pretty late on and everything's being fabricated, so we have nothing to do but to wait the whole fabrication process can take around 2 weeks, so my advice is to decide and finalize on carpentry early on so that the carpentry can be installed on time. Good news is that my carpentry is scheduled to be installed on 19 July, just a couple of days away! Excited about that. My oven, hob and hood were delivered on Saturday by Hoe Kee, waiting to be installed when carpentry is in. In the meantime, I've been doing more shopping. I think I got 90% of everything I need. Smart speaker - Amazon Echo Dot Prime Day price for this was too difficult to resist! I'm a smart home newbie but I got one to try out in the MBR. At $35 USD I think it was a low risk option for those wanting to get into smart homes. Kitchen sink - Kraus KHU101-23 23 inch Undermount Single Bowl 16 gauge This has always been my ideal sink but I didn't buy it because Amazon US rejected my appeals to waive shipping charges. Shipping would have cost almost as much as the sink itself! So I ended up buying another stainless steel sink from TB and I was quite happy with it. But on Prime Day, I saw that this sink was on sale on Amazon CN and even after including the shipping charges by ezbuy, the total cost is still cheaper than Amazon US with shipping waived so I sold off my TB sink and got this instead. So happy that I finally got the sink I wanted from the start Dining table - IKEA BJURSTA extendable table Thought about which dining table to get for the longest time. My tiny place can only fit a 1.3m long table max, but I didn't see many 1.3m tables around. They were mostly 1.2m or 1.5m. Honestly the trouble with buying things is to try and fit them into such a small space I also wanted the option of extending the table for when I have guests over. In the end I settled on a cheap IKEA extendable table. We can leave it at 90cm for 2 person, 130cm for 4, or 170cm for 6. I liked that it won't take up that much space when we're not using it. MBR ceiling light - Xiaomi Yeelight Smart LED ceiling lamp Got this to replace the Philips ceiling light I already bought before, because I decided pretty late on I wanted to go for some smart-ness in the MBR! This can be used with the Amazon Echo I purchased MBR bathroom toilet bowl - Baron W368A I was deciding between this and American Standard. This was $200 cheaper with the same white, squarish flush buttons and comfortable seat. Also preferred this design to Baron W888 which is also very popular. Comes with soft close seat cover and Geberit flushing. MBR bathroom sink - Ideal Standard Active Vessel Basin I think this same exact model is available for both Ideal Standard and American Standard. Not sure what's the difference between these brands actually. Got it at a promo price so it was < $100 Common bathroom sink - Pozzi wall mounted sink Got this at a special price when buying together with Baron WC. Had to top up slightly compared to the standard basin bundle options but I liked how this one wasn't too big and bulky for the common bathroom. Bathroom mirrors - IKEA NISSEDAL mirror
  19. Wow, American Standard WC, Haiku fan, KitchenAid, steigen laundry system all these must have cost a bomb. We picked the same basin for the toilet btw!
  20. Hi fellow 3 roomer! Your layout very nice!! Bomb shelter in kitchen, long kitchen, long living room which allows you to build a 'partition' like in your 3D. All the best for reno!
  21. Did you consider the Rinnai one? I think it's also around $80-$100 more expensive than the Macro MA-10FE. It's white, chioer LOL. Gas is cheaper but my main reason for getting gas heater is because I'm lazy to remember to turn on the heater for a few minutes before I actually shower. And sometimes I take really, really impromptu showers and I could already be in a rush so I just need to shower asap, haha. Ohhh. The granite sinks. Did you try looking at Blanco? The one you linked actually looks like Blanco Naya 6. Maybe Blanco from Hoe Kee could be cheaper leh. Oic, you're moving from a resale flat to a BTO! Hurryyy, I'm excited to read your blog since yours will be quite a big overhaul of the layout! Mine is very basic, zero hacking! Basically just some masonry, paint and carpentry. Hopefully I can finish reno by end July
  22. PM-ed looking forward to your reno blog if you're planning to write one!
  23. Reno looks to be nearing completion! Happy for you I'm quite worried about how my lights from TB will turn out, whether or not they'll be bright enough. As for the vinyl, I'm glad you can change it to metal trimming. It really looks a lot nicer! I also like the Ikea mirror.... wonder if I should rush down to Tampines to check if they still have stocks for it :/ Btw could you share what you meant by "what we envisioned was different from what E advised" regarding T5 lighting? Now I'm worried cos I bought my T5 lights for bathrooms without asking my ID for his advice
  24. Thanks!! Actually they forgot to paint the wall at the dining area, it should be painted grey. Maybe after painting the view from the corridor will be different. I bought MA-10FE, yeah. Honestly didn't do too much research but on another reno forum the MA-10FE was highly recommended and used the most so I just went with that. Looking at the MA-1210FER, I think the main advantage is for the bathtub fill feature and ability to control the temperature remotely, I don't really need either function so I think MA-10FE is enough. I didn't see the black Leivi sink! when is your reno starting btw?
