  1. Hi Jas, Your husband will like to take a look at the workmanship of my house's carpentry so I'm attaching them here for you all to take a look.
  2. Wow, seeing the photos, I have to agree that the workmanship is totally unacceptable. I hope you have not made the full payment and withhold any outstanding payments until everything is rectified. Additionally work with them on a final deadline (both reasonable for him if some of the carpentry needs to redo while also not delaying your plans to move in too much). Your ID shall also help to ensure that things are progressing within schedule during this period). Should they refuse to do so or if works are still not rectified you might want to inform them that you will be engaging another contractor to rectify all works and they would need to bear the cost of doing so.
  3. @firstaider That will not be one of my main concern. There are definitely gems hidden within these groups that can do as good a job as their more established competitors. If you think about it, all these established companies also start off as relative unknowns in the industry. It's because people are willing to give them the chance to prove their worth at the initial stage that they are able to build a name for themselves now. Finding a good contractor really boils down to individual judgement. Meet a few more contractors. Get a feel of how well they understand your needs and expectations. Don't be afraid to be honest with them if you have unusually high expectations. Quality of work can be subjective. What qualifies as reasonable standard to some may not be for others and most disputes arises because of a difference in expectations. Lay it straight off hand so that the expectations on both sides are aligned. I think another good way will be to see how readily they agree to all your requirements. While it always feel great to hear that your contractor is able to deliver all that you want, but if all you get is a yes immediately, how much thought processes actually went through their mind? Its a cut-throat industry out there and I wont be surprised some will even promise you moon and stars just to get you signed on the dotted line. Get now, solve later. Just open your eye big big and go with your gut feel. If your sixth sense tells you something is amiss, it probably is. Just my 2 cents worth and i hope it helps. Good luck for your renovation.
  4. Hi Peter, The cracks look pretty serious! Now that you paid up in full, its pretty hard to get them back for rectifications if they are not willing to do so. The ball is really in their court now. So you are going to leave it like that?
  5. @Sitichumlee If i understand correctly, we are not allowed to do is because this constitute as direct advertising which is not allowed in the forum.
  6. @Tazy I can understand how you feel about the hidden charges not communicated to you when you signed the contract earlier. Anyway they can alway argue that you are the one requesting for the refund thus they should not be liable to pay for the 0.8% transaction fee charged by NETs. Perhaps most of their transaction is by other methods such as cheque, cash or funds transfer which will not incur any transaction fees (cc transaction fee will be higher). Based on the fact that they are willingly to refund your deposit, I would have given them the benefit of the doubt for such hindsight (since this 0.8% does not go into their accounts). Although I do feel that this is something they should take note of in the future.
  7. That’s what I read from the breakup of our 2 Ah Jie. Something about saying in private space does not constitute to deframation but in public spaces then it is.
  8. The safest way to do will be to share your experience without naming the company but those who wishes to know can pm you directly. Or perhaps just drop some obvious clues so others can find out the actual company for themselves. That’s what I think.
  9. Agree with you on this Sky but do play your cards carefully. Since you already engage your lawyer, consult him on this, especially "shaming" (cant find a proper word for it) them on public forums. Even though, you may have facts, doing so on public forum may constitute to defamation or something like that. Like that famous artist spat that was blown up all over media. Haha. Just don't fall into their trap bro!
  10. @OrangeSky Just pm-ed you. Anyway don't say business, nowadays people always like to play the legal card when things don't go their way. Managed to resolve your issue with your previous contractor already?
