  1. Hi Boogie, I think you can refer to all my previous post regarding choosing of a aircon. (Well of course got help from some bros here lah). Just to sum up, there is nothing wrong with R22, (thats unless you are those enviromentalist). And also its cheaper to top up gas for R22 than R410. But if I was you, i would rather get the Daikin aircon, better, more powerful (just kidding ^_^). But I must say your salesperson quite bad, selling you the old model, rather than the new R410 series!!! And further more, ask you to compromise on the BTU for each room. Think you should seriosly change it before they deliver the aircon, else think you will regard (really) Cheers
  2. Hi Boogie, Actually I have not heard any dealer recommending anthing less than 10k BTU for the MBR (well till the last few posting when some got 9k, which I think still ok lah), but I think you should seriously go back and question the salesperson, cause I just came back from lunch and the weather is like walking past a OVEN!!! (^_^)
  3. Hi dino77, I understand where you are coming from, but actually (if I am not mistaken) for all multi-split aircon, the BTU for the compressor is actually shared by all the fancoil. So like eg. my case, I got 12k x 1, 9k x 2, so when I on only the 12K, it will draw the max 12k from the compressor, but in the case of on all the aircon, then must depend on the max BTU of the compressor. So eg. if my aircon is 25k BTU, so it will be devided out by the 3 compressor. But for the case of Boogie, if the fancoil BTU is 8k, the max it will draw is 8k and nothing more. So in an event of hot day, the aircon will take longer to cool the room, thus more energy being consumpted. So Boogie, is it possible for you to go back to your dealer to actually calculate for you the actual BTU needed per fancoil for all the rooms? Just for infor, the other day, I actually wanted to change my aircon from the Fujitsu (the one with the don't know what CST) to the latest Panasonic one, they advise me not to, as the compressor for the Panasonic is only 20k (the smallest amongst all invertor aircon), so I don't think your Jack Neo's AC is anything worse than that. Cheers. ^_^
  4. Strange leh, cause I know that Jack Neo's A/C infact have the largest BTU for the compressor, so how come they recommend you such small BTU for the fancoil?? Actually also wanted to get that, but too ex, so get my Fujitsu instead. Anyway its a good choice. ^_^ Cheers.
  5. Hi Boogie, Actually this it the first time that I ever heard anyone recommend so low BTU for all the rooms. Well for me, I got 12k for MBR, 9k for the other rooms. True, for MBR, 9k can liao, but 8k??? and for other rooms, 6k?? Anyway what brand of A/C you getting? Cheers
  6. Hi donut88, Can I know which page of the newspaper published this article, cause cannot find. Cheers
  7. Hi skyryen, Well I am also going to install my Fujitsu aircon soon. Just waiting. So how is the aircon working for you? Good? Well also quite skepitcal when I first ordered this aircon, but went around also quite afew salesman intro this, so at this low price, decide to go for it. (Keep my finger cross) Well to say the least, I am not very aware of your Insuflex, but I got my Thermalflex 1/2". Anyway you should have asked what insulation you are getting when you purchase your aircon. Cheers... ^_^
  8. Hi all, Just to update you all on the latest quote from Hong Tar I got this afternoon. (Actually asked for my friend's behalf) (All Invertor, 1/2" Class 0 Thermalflex insulation, 9k BTU x 3 configuration fancoil) Fujitsu - $2450 (still on discount, if not at courts selling $2.9k+, don't even know the insulation, well heard from the saleslady that they just tested the aircon, quite cooling) Panasonic - $2650 (the latest one, well advise from Hong Tar, don't buy this cause the compressor BTU max is only 20k, so when you on all the aircon at the same time, no power!) Jack Neo's / Toshiba - $2850 Hope this information is useful to all looking for aircon. Cheers.
  9. Actually I am the husband of TinyEyes, think you all know her.. so have be in this "virtual neighbourhood" for a while.. ^_^
  10. Hi sengkt, Actually I am engaging a contractor, so paiseh no pics loh. Well overall my living room will be the same design as yours, but for the kitchen as our sink and the cooker quite big, so instead of having the oven beside the fridge (which I think most of us will be doing), the oven will be beside the WM (near to the window). Yesterday just finalise the capentry work with the contractor, and my kitchen will almost be the same as yours., just that my top will be grey and the table-top will be vanilla. As for MBR, just only doing a 8 feet Wardrobe and at the living room near the windows, will do a platform to serve as a cozy area. By the way, I live at 676A.
  11. Hi sengkt, My house also have the same exact layout as yours. Can share more of your ID design pics, especially the kichen pics? Well overall my contractor is also having the same design as yours, maybe just the positioning of the fridge and the WM. Cheers.
  12. So Zen2008, in the end you go for Totaline?
  13. Hi weiht, The deal you got is indeed a very good deal. Actually wanted to get the Toshiba also, but due to budget constraint so settle for Fujitsu. Anyway, think your comment on "Copper prices gg up doesnt justify price of aircon gg up so much... Dun be fooled" is rather unfair to the suppliers, cause the price of copper really have risen at a "mad" pace, and the amount of copper that they are using to (both piping and the condenser itself) is quite significant. Actually not all the cost increase goes to copper, the supplier was also commenting of the rising cost of oil(the root cause for all price increase) also contribute to the rise in aircon price. Anyway, do hope to see pics of your piping once they are done. Do heard alot of great comments from fellow forumers here for All Best.
  14. Well so far for me quite lucky, cause came across the promotion for my aircon, so therefore can get quite a good price. As mentioned the price of my aircon now shoot back up to 2.9+k.
  15. Wah.... the prices of aircon rose so fast?? Was quoted like 3.6k or 3.7k for Jack Neo's aircon from Hong Tar just before I got my existing aircon. hmm...
  16. Hi Commando, Yes, they do lay the canvas to protect the ground, and I must say.. they really work very hard.. for the whole of 4 hours, they keep working and my mom keep asking them to drink more water then they stop for a while to drink, then they carry on working.. Really pity them. Hi Zen2008, actually as alot of bros have mentioned, the type of material used is quite important, cause as i mentioned, unless you go down and personally see the diff between the materials, else no matter what we all say also useless.
  17. Hi Zen2008, think for the insulation, you can refer to this old thread to see which is the best insulation @ http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4036. And think like one of the forumer mentioned, you can proceed to GC and see wats the difference between k-flex and Armaflex and Thermaflex. (Really a great diff). Went in to GC at IMM and really, though the salesman is like Ah Beng, but what he said is really true. They never empty promise and will advise on the best config for your house. Was looking at the various aircon, if your notice, the most energy efficent aircon is not really the starmax, though i cannot confirm which one is the most energy efficent. Had my aircon pipes done up yesterday(please refer to previous thread for more details on my aircon), took about 4 hours, and must say the piping is quite well done. Will try to post some pics here when i have them. Hope this information helps.
  18. Actually I did asked, but forgot liao. (Cause same as any other vendors). Will update you when the guys come and install the piping on Monday. Of course will also upload pics by then.
  19. nope. Insisted on one but never get. they said that last time got promo then got give. but as fujitsu is on sale now, therefore not giving. aother brands also. nope. Insisted on one but never get. they said that last time got promo then got give. but as fujitsu is on sale now, therefore not giving. aother brands also.
  20. Not sure leh.. the website never write. Can call them at 6665 0163 to check.
  21. Ya... so far got the lowest quotation from there..
  22. No leh.. the price there quoted is more ex than what i got from those long Queenstown (think you know which shops i am talking about).
  23. Well for Fujitsu, the warranty is the same as any other brands. (Could not remember the exact warranty condition). As for energy efficent, actually if you see closely between the brands, the energy consumption is almost the same. (Cause like what all the salesperson said, as long as invertor sure will save!). An additional feature for the fujitsu is that is as quiet as the starmex (so the starmex is not the most quiet aircon around liao). As for payment, its 30% deposit, 20% for cables, the rest is when you install the equipments. All by cash or cheque if you do not want the additional charges. (So have to bring a few hunderds there... sianz...) Well still have not bought our hood, fridge washer.. etc.. sianz...
  24. Hello Commando, we are starting our reno next week. Will ask TinyEyes to update in our neighbourhood thread. So hows your reno getting along. Think you also very buzy, never see you post anything nowadays. Haha. As for aircon, think you read my thread earlier. I was quoted $2.9 for both Starmex and Toshiba. Well one reason why I did not buy the starmex is that one one of the sales lady at Best Tech told me that the Starmex model is 4 years old!! (Well someone correct me if I am wrong). And well actually I wanted to buy the Toshiba model, cause its the only brand that have "Made in Japan" label. Was also quoted $2.9. Then as mentioned in earlier thread, I went to Hong Tar and they say they are havinf this promo for Fujitsu (the latest one), selling at $2.53k. (Please see previous thread for specs). Well as mentioned, this is the best spec that i have come across so far. GC is selling $2.93k for the same fujitsu model (but with $300 NTUC voucher). So in the end decided to order from Hong Tar. Can seriously consider this one as the offer is coming to and end really soon (think its end of this month if I am not wrong.) You can call them to confirm on this. Hope this information helps.. Cheers
  25. Hi Softball, if you got see all my previous msg posted, I will always post in this manner (Brand, system ??, invertor/non-invertor, the respective BTU for each room, tubing/insulation used, any restrictions on the laying of the tubing etc). The restrictions mentioned here might range from the max length of tubing allowed, the upgrading of material (i.e. from one material to another better material). Will try to list out all when I have the time. First of all, for the type of tubing, please read this thread http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4036 For a more holistic understanding of all air-con related stuff, please read http://singapore-aircon.blogspot.com/ Actually i have a casual chat with the sales lady at Hong Tar regarding Daikin, she was saying that first, most Daikin aircons are made in Malaysia, and the price that they are selling are way more ex than the other Jap/Koeran brands. Just to image their range of R22 aircons are more ex than the newer aircons that are using R410 and on top of that, they are less features than the rest. I believe that the aircon quoted for by your ID are the older aircons using the R22 gas, as the other day i called up Cool Serve to ask about their aircon promotion. The sales guys said that they are giving discount to all older Daikin aircons to clear stock. This is just my 2 cents worth after going in circles for the past 1-2 mths. Hope it helps. Cheers
