  1. Hi there ! As the title says I don't normally recommend services publicly, but I feel this firm I've dealt with could save some homes as it did mine My fiance found this guy (an interior designer) from his extended group of friends while out at the pubs one night (Not a great start to the story hah !), anyway we moved into our new condo about 5 months later. Did our rounds and got quotations from afew firms, thought we'd give our new "friend" a try as well. He gave us probably one of the best quotations out of those we'd already gotten. A main selling point for us was that this was a long-standing family business and it's being run by a son/dad combo, we're adamant that family businesses do very good work or else they wouldn't be around for that long. Other factors that led to our decision was his wide portfolio of projects, modern outlook and clean workmanship. We got to work, and although our friend wasn't free to meet for the most part, the employee he hooked us up with was extremely insightful and cautioned us on certain decisions, even showed us some of the current trendy layouts. We ended up realising our vision didn't feel as modern as the current trend so we took most from his portfolios haha. So all was well and his workmanship was excellent, the part that really threw me into recommending his services was that he took it upon himself and his firm's contractors to fix some minor existing problems in the condominium and when we asked him how much these fixes costed, he didn't change his quote and merely laughed it off saying "That's what full package means ! Don't worry about it". The least I could do to repay this good service is to share it with the community, to be fair he did say "if you have any friends who need, must say me okay ?". Would be very glad to share his contact and save some other people's homes too haha !
  2. Living at my current place for more than 5 years, things are falling apart - 1. Intend to renovate my 2 toilets, think there is a leak in the concealed piping also. 2. Paint the entire place 3. Fix not-working light fixtures Can someone recommend me a reliable and good contractor. Thank you very much.

  4. I'd like to share my positive experience with Inside Living Pte Ltd. I was recommended by my friend to engage Alex Tai from Inside Living for my BTO renovation. I wanted a design that is out of the norm with rounded edges (with the thought of having a child-friendly design). He came up with the design quickly and patiently listened to my feedback on his 3D drawings through several appointments. He took my feedback into consideration and went through a few rounds of amendments before we finalize on the design I like. Through my appointments with him, he showed his experience in the choice of colors to match the look and feel I wanted. He brought me and my husband along to choose floor tiles, toilet and kitchen accessories and lightings. We had a good experience with the shops that he brought us to, where there is a wide variety to choose from and offered at a good price and also offer good after-sales service. He was able to recommend lights that are modern and also able to bring out the ambience. During renovation, I requested on exact measurements on some of my carpentry and kitchen top. Alex noted on my requirements and took the effort to check on the workers to ensure that the carpentry and kitchen top are done exactly to the measurements I wanted. With his experience, he was able to recommend designs that is lively (the look & feel I wanted) and also ensure its easy to maintain. He helped to check on the finishings to ensure the workmanship is up to expectations and I am happy with the final workmanship and the prompt service provided. His workers did a good job to clean up the house prior to handing over the house keys to us, this really helped cos we need not spend too much effort to clean the house prior to move in. His workers were also polite and ensured that their works are up to standards and we were satisfied. My friends and family also commented that the workmanship of my renovation is well done. I would highly recommend Alex from Inside Living for renovation as he ensures expectations are met with quality work delivered. He has also been patient and responsive to my queries throughout the renovation period and even after renovation

  6. Hi there, Could anyone explain to me how air-conditioning installation works for HDB? I'm waiting for my BTO T.O.P in 2018/2019 and I have no clue about the requirements for HDB regarding the air-conditioning. I want a really cold aircon but I know that there are some restrictions to installing certain air-conditioners in HDB. I'm considering on a total of 2 condensers and 3 air-con units in my flat, anyone can help? xx Sarah
  7. Hi all, Sorry if this is a double post. This is my first time on this forum. my wife and I purchased a resale HDB in Bishan at the end of August, and the renovation completed roughly 2 weeks ago. We were lucky to have chosen an excellent Interior Designer / Contractor, and I would like to share my experience with anybody interested. I would like to say first off that I am not profiting in any way by making this post. We started searching for contractors who were recommended by others through forums and friends. We engaged to such contractors (one was V-Max Interior), and we also randomly engaged two other contractors whose offices were near where we were staying at the time. Of the four contractors, a few things stood out for V-Max interior. 1. Vincent, our contractor, has a very can do attitude. We had some pretty tough requests which we ran by all four contractors (such as hacking down walls, moving doorways, and concealing certain piping). The other three contractors either simply said it couldn't be done, or simply tried to avoid making any promises. Vincent would patiently listen to our ideas, think, and then propose how they could be done. 2. The prices quoted by V-Max Interior were very competitive compared to the other three. Only one contractor offered a lower price, but he had a very negative attitude about what could be done, and noticably, some of our main requirements were missing from the contract he offered us. From the discussions with the four contractors, it was tough to make a decision as V-Max Interior, and another contractor both seemed very promising. In the end we chose V-Max Interior, and we are very happy with our decision. Our house is approximately 100 sqm, and the work we had done included the following main items: 1. Changing the flooring of the whole house except the kitchen and store room. We used HERF flooring which so far has turned out to be excellent (very beautiful too). 2. Re-tiling both bathrooms. 3. Completely changing the layout of the common bathroom (it involved a lot of hacking, and creating of new walls and doorways). 4. Redoing the kitchen carpentry and built in wardrobes in each of the three bedrooms. 5. Installing of kitchen and bathroom applicances and accessories (water heaters, oven, stove, sinks etc). There were of course a lot of minor changes/improvements. Vincent also did a survey of the house and pointed out a lot of issues that needed addressing. The entire renovation took less than 2 months, and Vincent himself was there almost every day to oversee the work being done. As we've only recently moved in, the place is a little messy, and we're still in the middle of buying some furniture. Anyway I quickly took a few photos and I've included them here: http://doaaron.smugmug.com/Other/2013Spnewhouse/32958936_Bhgfs2#!i=2856225878&k=HfzqB9d Honestly these photos don't really do the work justice. I will take some better photos when I have the time. If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask. In the meantime, if you are looking for a good reliable contractor, consider V-Max Interior. BTW, I am not profiting in any way by making this post. http://www.v-max.com.sg/ Aaron
