Help: How To Look For Contractors But Not Id

Hi,

I am new in this forum. I'll get my resale flat key the end of Nov. Want to do simple renovation: tile flooring in the living room, laminated flooring in the bedroom, and kitchen cabinet.

Now I am looking for the contractor to do the tile flooring in the living room (including haching), and carpenter to build kitchen cabinet.

My problems are:

1. How to look for contactors but not ID? recommended by somebody, from newpapers, or other ways?

2. How to check the contractor licence? It is said in HDB website that the contractor should have the HDB licence.
