Byr 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2008 Recently i bought a batch of white 800x800mm marbles from Stile... cost me more than 11K for less than 600sqft... For me... i will rather die than EVER to step or buy anything from this place again!!! First i feel being ripe off by Stile... especially the drylay.... as never really bought marbles before so with all the good logical reasons of paying for a drylay, i go for it... kena pay 25% bigger rather than just almost my exact floor area, the salesman claimed its normal... i "gong, gong" since virgin purchase... accepted his claim especially i think Stile... so establish sure reliable one ... then later also kena given all sub-graded marble slabes... diff tone, water mark, broken lines.... as i inspect the drylay.. sales man claim n try to put these slabes to the side... they say normal & while i tht maybe these are not really "paid" for so ok la... as he keep mentioning normally my tiler will trim these defects off. Time to pay after initiall inspection... Guess what??? i realise they are charging me with these (25% extra) marble stabes since 1 full slabe has been assign to each side/ edge thus u cam image how i get extra 25% that i have to pay. feel somewhat uneasy but not sure... Told them to change those defective slabes. I explain to my STILE salesman that i would expect all complete stock to be at least ok slates rather than all the edge stabes being somewhat defective since i pay for them and that my tiler will have less choice in putting the best n uniform marble to my hall n dinnign area. My salesman still try to persuade me that the side (edge) slabes will be trimmed off afterall.... BUT WTF then why i pay n have to drylay the sides with full sizing 800x800 slates??? Didnt want to be too "Neaw" (stingy) i prompty ask the salesman to change for me trusting he would do it! and he agree to exsure that this is done! i say "please". Delivery day Arrange morning 9-10am delivery. As my main con has to arrange for his labor... i called & SMS at least 5 times 3 days ahead of the delivery day. Gues what??? only 5pm they reach! thats after like 8 calls! no return call despite many sms etc! WTF again... (Sigh) After my reno guys are moving the 800x800 heavy slates up... notice many cracked slabes starting from the 3rd slabes being carried up... immediately call to warn my Stiles sales man that it is not acceptable & i will call him at the end of the tiling for exchangeon all the defective, he agreed... BUT what is this about since all the prior agreement when i pay after the drylay. In total 21 piece out of 90... somewhat defective.... broken with hairline crack. water lines, > 50cent size spot cracks, very visible edge broken.. Arrange for exchange! Again late... this time another 4 hours from am yet again till 4pm... i smell the exchange stock being trucked in... sigh... my poor workers waited whole day then kena callup for other work site n got to complete the transfer up #10 till 11pm!!! reminded sales person to check all my details including slates sizes.... Shock 3!!! Tiler morning came tiling the remaining.... OMG... 800x800 ordered..... delivered 850 x850..... This is most unforgivable. All the wasted time, efforts n whatever. Call & F&^$%# the sales person especially initially when he refused to be responsible n arrange this time for manpower for a 2nd exchange.... Finally got to arrange for his manpower to pick up the slates and waited for 1 week to cut back to 800x800... FINAL Delivery finally made and for the last n one time.... phewww no major heart attack except that appointment from 1-3pm... i only smell the truck almost 4!!! Anyway finally I manage to end my dealing from this unprofessional and bad service company (or salesman) that i would implore any fellow forum bro/sis to take a separate judgement before you consider buying anything from STILE... & pls take protective measures if u really need to buy from them... I pay in full upon request before the delivery but accept a drylay that didnt serve its purpose (as later i learn without drylay, you probably also buy 20% more just for the tradeoff of possible defective slates)... sigh... i just didnt expect this from a quite reputable store/ brand name! I just feel so embarrased even to voice out here but eventually manage to muster enough courage to air my frustration n dirty linen, hope in facing bravely my mistakes or foolish stumbles, fellow forum bros/ sis will somewhat learn from my experince can protect youself a bit... A Lesson well learn...Sigh
