Extremely Bad Experience With Om.

Recommended Posts

I swear I will never buy another piece of furniture from OM after this terrible incident.

My designer proposed to have a headboard for my master bedroom and hence requires a divan to fit in. Heard that OM furnitures are appealing and modern and thus made a trip there to check out the divans. At OM, we bought a storage divan and was issued an invoice which stated that the divan is 6ft. My designer, who is an extremely meticulous person, checked with the store manager, Lina on the divan's dimensions. Not once, but twice. Lina confirmed that the width is 1.8m on both occasions. Hence, the headboard was constructed to fit the 1.8m divan.

In the end, when the divan was delivered to my newly renovated house, all was perfect except for a divan that is sticking out. It didn't fit in the headboard constructed! Why? Because the dimension was wrong. The width was 1.84m instead of 1.8m. I was fuming mad and called OM, Lina. She then replied initially that my designer did not confirm the dimension with her at all. I then smell a rat. I have been working with my designer on all renovation details and everything was fine and I knew my designer's character, she is a responsible and meticulous person who would not have made such a mistake. In anyway, I think finger-pointing is pointless in my case and I asked Lina to refer to her invoice and clearly it stated 6ft.

Lina then told me that she will gather more facts and get back to me. In the end, she called me and sheepishly admit that she had indeed told my designer that the dimension was 1.8m and request that I give her time to provide a new custom made divan of 1.8 in width for me. I agreed but also warned that tmy house warming will be in another week's time and hope that the divan will be of the correct dimension. She agreed and promised that she will ensure that the correct divan will delivered to my house before my house warming.

Well, to add on, Lina also did not have the courtesy to advise on the timing for delivery which caused both my hubby and I to take leave to wait fruitlessly for the whole day for the divan. We also could not reach Lina for the whole a.m. until we panic and called our designer to help get in touch with her that she call us back and inform that the delivery time is 6-8p.m.

When the re-constructed divan was delivered to my place just now, to my horror, it was not a storage divan and the width is 1.82cm! Needless to say, it can't fit into my headboard. I was terribly disappointed that my house warming will be one without divan. This is just obnoxious! I really cant accept that an established company like OM would have a staff who could make such repeated mistakes. When we called Lina again to complain about the wrong dimension, she just simply told us that she couldn't get in touch with anyone and wanted us to wait until tue to consult her manager. What the heck? So, I would have to host a housewarming party without a divan all because of OM's terrible mistakes. My housewarming plans were totally foiled because of OM.

I swear that I would not be recommending anyone to OM anymore. Enough is enough.

Sorry to hear about you bad experiences.

May i know what is OM as in the full name of that company?

Just OM. Here's the website of the company

http://www.om-home.com/contact.asp

Anyway, to update this issue, that Lina did not even give my hubby a call as promised. Until it was three-tish that my hubby called Lina and she said she is on leave! Clearly, she has clean forgotten about our issue and did not follow up on this issue as promise. My hubby scolded her for her irresponsible attitude and asked to speak to her manager. Subsequently, her manager John called and apologised and claim that it was the supplier's fault. I can understand the 1st mistake but how about the 2nd one? Isn't it obvious that OM should be partly responsible for the repeated mistake? I really do not like the way OM shove the blame onto others and do finger-pointing. This should not be the doings of an established company. The manager, John just told us that he would give us 'special price' if we want to buy anything else from OM. Would I still buy another piece of furniture from OM? I think not as I really do not have anymore confidence on this company after this terrible incident.

Sad to hear about your experience.

I think the sales rep/supplier for OM would also be in trouble now. Build so many divans of wrong size. Someone will have to pay unless they manage to sell of to someone else !!

Does OM have its factory in Singapore or all Malaysia/China imported ones?

I cannot help but will like to warn users buying from Lina in OM. My first case was that she told me the sofa I've bought left only last piece with the color that my wife and I do not want. We went down and look for other pieces but none can fulfill the one we wanted. We spent 2 hours in the showroom and she kept asking us to upgrade with some top up options on "better" designs. We were so frustrated that we wanted to refund and then she said finally, she got the piece but with another color. We gave up arguing and decided to go ahead with the same design and pray that everything will turn out all right when they deliver.

Today, she called up again and told us our dining table that we've ordered has cracked and ask us to come to the showroom to find a replacement. We are sick and tired of her "sales tactics" and wanted a refund. She says the samething that she need to check with her manager to confirm the refund. This time round, I'm not going to give up asking for refund.

If all else fails, I'll lodge a report to CASE to warn them of such sales tactics.
