Hi Everyone! I came across this forum cos we are going to start renovating our place.

My ID told me that a PE would cost us about $1.2k to endorse the floorplan indicating which are the walls that we are knocking/hacking. When I asked how does the PE breakdown the charges, he told us it was based on project cost.

I had asked around and gotten feedback that a PE cost an average of $500 - 800.

Has anyone here engaged a PE before? How much did you have to pay? How many walls were you hacking? I need to understand the market rate and how the charges are tabulated. I have a dreaded feeling $1.2K is a rip-off.

PE is not private engineer....Professional Engineer....Yes the cost of an average PE is around $500-$800 depend on what you want them to do....U can engage a PE yourself without going thru ID if you worry about being rip-off.

Haha! Thanks for pointing out. I always thought PE meant Private Engr! =)
