Next-gen Vacuum Cleaners, Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I first heard about this "new" technology from Dyson. Hefty price, but the whole concept is really interesting. It's effective, quiet and energy-efficient. Cleaning the device is as easy as taking the "cup" of dirt out for emptying.

More background can be found at their official website: http://www.dyson.com.sg/

Then I begin to see similar products out in our market. Their prices are a fraction of Dyson's.

Shimono product range

Can any experienced users of such cyclone, bagless vacuum cleaners share your comments? Are they really that good? Any other similar products that are worth mentioning?

Any ideas where I could get cheaply? E.g. I saw the Shimono one selling at S$79 at a small booth in People's Park Complex. I also saw Philips and Akira ones in Giant but I doubt they'll be selling them at the best prices.

Thanks :)

The shimono vacuum itself is actually not bad, suction strong and battery life quite long as the salesman will say. But there's apparently a common issue with the switch. Shorty after getting mine, the switch had problems, and I'd have to jiggle it on/off a few times before the cleaner will come on.

Happened to bump into a salesman outside a nearby ntuc and he was not surprised when I told him my problem, saying up to 10 in 100 sets had that problem. (how'd you like it if 10 out of 100 times your ATM withdrawals failed!?!)

So he said you could just bring the set for servicing, being so cocky about it.

So get the machine if you want a good quick clean, but don't expect it to last as the QC really ain't there.

I just got a philips bagless. I was surprised the suction is actually stronger than my previous bag type even though the power is supposely smaller. Only hassle is to clean the container inside.
