lol.....we had them for the last few days too............nothing much I could do....

here are some info to distinguish whether they are flying ants or termites...

http://www.spma.org.sg/faq.htm

See question 15.....

Anyway, what we used to do when we were young is to put a basin of water directly under the lights........the ants will get attracted to the reflection and get caught in the water

These flying ants are attracted to light. Pour water into a low height pail (those that you use in your kitchen wash basin) and raise it near the light. The insects will all go into the water and drown. They head there because of the light reflection. Do this and you should have at least 1/2 hour or more to have a decent dinner before they come back again. These insects usually come out because of the wet weather recently.

Put water in metal bowl, best can reflect light. Put the bowl under the light, as near as possible. They will fly into the water.

we switched off all the lights slowly one by one until the last foyer light to let them fly out into the corridor. then we closed all windows and door before we switched on the lights again.

Hi,

I bought a elec. insect trapper weeks back. infact, as advise by jeda, we off our light one by one until the insect fly near my elec. trap ... :) ..

well, because of the flying insect, i might have to give up my plan of having a planted fish tank. I don't want to spend time fishing out insect from my tank .. haha.

I see less of them now .. hope it's a seasonal thingy .... ;)

thanks.

Hi to all those facing issue with insects in the house.

You might want to consider installing magnetic insect screen on window grilles.

There are few advantages.

1) Prevent flys, moquitoes, etc from coming in to your house.

2) You can still leave your windows opened for air ventilation.

3) Easy to clean.

4) Can help to filter some percentage of dust as well.
