Halogen Spotlights With Dimmer

hi guys, i dont know which halogen eyeball fittings type should i choose - gu10 240v or the low voltage mr16. the mr16 requires transformer thought.

my setup is to be used with a dimmer, i've read low voltage halogens are prone to flickering while the normal voltage gu10 might trip the entire circuit and burn the dimmer switch if trips.

anyone with expert advice ar ?
