My Experience With Homesuccess

Recommended Posts

I just wrote an e-mail to Simon Goh, the owner of Homesuccess, to detail the experience that I had renovating my home with his company. I thought I will share my experience in renotalk forum.

Dear Simon,

It has been more than 3 months since I last wrote to you about the

renovation problems that I have at my place. I just wanted to let

you know that even up to today, there is no final resolution of the

renovation defects - the discoloured skirting has yet to be fixed by

Wood Culture.

Since I wrote to you last December, I have also realized the full

extent of the flaws and errors in the renovation works provided under

Vincent Gabriel Lim (while he was still at Homesuccess). I have

requested two other renovation contractors to examine the renovation

work done by Homesuccess and they are surprised by the sloppiness and

mistakes they found. For examples, the bedroom floors are not level

with the the living room walkway, inappropriate aluminium floor

divider (more commonly used in commercial projects with carpet

flooring) used to cover the gaps between the wooden floor and living

room marble walkway, toilet floor that is higher than the bedroom

floor leading to high chance of water seepage, missing trimmings from

newly installed doorframes, wardrobe of non-standard measurement,

missing metal bracket to hold up granite vanity top, misaligned tiles

in built-in bathtub, etc.

All these errors and flaws are in addition to the problems that we

already faced during the renovation works itself, including leaking

aircon drainage pipe that resulted in water leakage to the unit below,

improper wetworks around drainage pipe that resulted in slow water

drip to the unit below, faulty granite top that resulted in water drip

to cabinet below the sink (which Ii mentioned in my first email and

which costs I have to borne), water seepage from toilet to bedroom

floor (one of the major item that was just fixed right before the

Chinese New Year 2012), damage to the wooden floor as a result of the

water seepage (another major item that was only fixed 3 weeks ago

after many attempts to have your company address the issue), etc.

While these items have been eventually rectified, the process and the

frustration that we are put through certainly did not speak well for

Homesuccess.

While I would like to put the blame only on Vincent, whom I think did

a very sloppy and unprofessional job during the renovation process, I

have also experienced much frustration from my attempts to have your

company rectify some of the renovation defects. I found myself having

to push and chase the contact person, Henry, every step of the way

before rectification works can be effected. Often, I even have to

chased one of you subcontractor, Ah Ong, myself. The water seepage

issue also took a long time to rectify, more than 5 to 6 days of work

and rework, highlighting the low level of skills by your workers.

While Henry did eventually helped to rectify most of the mistakes, as

I mentioned in the first part of this email, up to today the skirting

issue has yet to be settled.

I do not expect any further action form your company, but as the

Founder of Homesuccess, I wanted to share with you the frustration

that I had experienced with your company. As a Spirit of Enterprise

Award winner in 2009 and as a ISO9000 certified company, I expected

more from you and Homesuccess. Moreover, I read you interviews with

City Harvest ( a church which some of my relatives worship at) and I

am somewhat surprised to read that your motto has always been to put

people first, be they customers or staff members. I certainly did not

get the "customer first" experience - you did not even bother to

answer my first e-mail or to contact me directly.

I will certainly share my Homesuccess experience with my friends and

relatives. God bless you, in His own way.
