Is is common for ID/contractor to provide a renovation schedule for what is to be done during when?

Any one can share what does it include?

After appointed the ID/contractor, when am I expecting the schedule or even drawings from him?

I have appointed one contractor, he said he will have drawings for me.

After selected of tiles since 2 weeks ago, nothing from him yet.

I am getting my keys in about 2 weeks time, is he late or am I too impatience?
