Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

I was attended by a nice & friendly design consultant from KY. Even visited their job site but to be honest, quality of workmanship is only so-so. Quoted me over 50K while the other ID companies quoted me a range of 37-39K. A huge difference for the same amount of things done. Finally, decided against them :(

Doing my reno with them right now...hiccups here and there. My aircon contractor trunking workmanship is even better than their electrical trunking...having gaps and lousy workmanship. ID told me the trunking will be concealed in the cabinet... but i was thinking, next time if i decide to dismantle the cabinet? Are they going to redo everything nicely for me again? And i'm paying the same price for such standard.

One of the mistakes was planned to install half height tempered glass at the kitchen wall and now after hacking the wall...ID told me the tempered glass is too big to fit inside the lift and need to cut into 3 pieces to deliver up. After installing, there will be 2 ugly lines in between as well. WTH...the ID never mention or inform us about this at all before hand. Big Mistake!

Dear all, my reno project with Koong Yee is almost completed except for quite a number of items which were not done properly or completed. It's been a frustrating reno journey and i really have no confidence in them after paying 50% of the reno fees.

According to the contract, we should pay the additional 40% before carpentry and hold the last 10% after complete and verification...ID just told us that they need to collect 40% already but i'm worried the damaged and incompleted stuffs will keep on dragging as CNY is coming...our Reno started in early Nov and initially ID told us all these can be completed within 4-6 weeks...

Can anyone adv us what to do on such situation?

Some major problems:

i) "We" had found damaged dents at window panel in the living room, masterbed room, bedroom 2. Almost 4 weeks already and still not repaired yet.

ii) "We" found one of the window pulling handle broke during the reno and also not repaired.

ii) Unable to fit a whole piece 8 feet tempered glass for half height kitchen( We discussed our requirements with the ID before signing the contract and stated we wanted to do half height kitchen wall with 1 pc tempered glass. We were astronished when our ID informed us that it's impossible to transport an 8ft glass to my unit until when the reno had already started halfway. We were disapointed by the bad news and our ID told us that we can only install them in either 2 or 3pc...which we felt will look ugly. In the end, we managed to discuss with our ID to come up with another alternate solution.

iii) ID told us she will reserve 800mm space for our fridge. We bought a fridge(780mm) and the delivery guys can't shift it into the spot. Informed the ID and end up we got to meet and tell the carpenter ourselves. The carpenter told us the floor is uneven and squeeze the fridge into the spot with no allowance leaning against the kitchen cabinet, the fridge door seemed unable to close properly as well. So we asked why there was no 20mm gap and requested to amend the cabinet size but the carpenter seemed unwilling to do it.

iv) We were shocked that the Bedroom 2 and Bedroom3 wardrobe sliding doors were "bent"(slanted) when we checked after it was completed. During installation, the carpenter should had noticed the whole piece of door wasn't straight at all and yet still installed them. Our ID also never check or inform us until we discovered them ourselves after few rounds of checking.

Hi Tri5tan, sorry to hear about your renovation woes. Have they been sorted? Koong Yee is one of the companies I may be considering so I'm quite concerned. Thanks for sharing any updates you may have.

Hi sanguine, did you choose  Koong Yee in the end?

No good feel with KY. Young id "E" is pushy and inexperienced and not knowledgeable in id work. Visited one of their unit in Sengkang. Workmanship is lousy. Not using them.

Hi there, no I didn't go with Koong Yee in the end. Their quotation was not that cheap. Eventually, I went with a contractor rather than ID, as I know roughly what I want. Hope your renovation journey is going well!

Requested a pm from someone who wanted to introduce his "recommended contractor". 1st impression: contractor talk like good buddy assure you that they will oversee everything without subcon. 2nd meetup, quotation came back not cheap plus many things that we discussed during the first meetup not quoted.
