Hi,

I am interested in getting a pc of this model: e6098 from http://shop.techsvg.com/door-lock.html

Pls PM me if you are interested to do a group purchase together. Hope to get a better price with a group purchase.

Thanks.

What does it means when it says "9v battery could be used to recharge the lock from outside whenever it is neccessary"? When is it necessary to charge?

"The fingerprint reader is made of extra hard glass to prevent scratches". What happens if there are many scratches? Will it still recognise my fingerprint?

The lock is powered by 4xAA batteries in normal mode. If for some reasons, the battery went flat (despite the alarm / led indicator to pre-warn you) and you are outside, then you can use a 9V battery to activate your lock so that you enter into your house. This is a safety measure in case you are lock out of you own house. See illustration in this url http://sg.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:Biometri...20Pin:210633361

Cannot comment on the scratches. According to a vendor whom I spoke to during the recent IT show, all you need to do is to clean the finger pad once in a while. Won't have scratches.

By the way, there are others:

Actually if we are always using the finger to touch the glass and there is a cover over it, why would it have scratches?? Unless you scratch it with your nails on purpose...

errm... so what's the final price? a bit confused as the prices on the website and yahoo auction.. :(

btw, can we test it first? i've seen a mythbuster episode on discovery channel whereby the fingerprint lock was beaten simply by a photo-copied thumbprint! :jawdrop:

Hi Lukecas

Prata's post strike an idea.

Why not you organise a meeting at the shop so that we can all decide on the spot? Or post the full details of the shop, person-in-charge, etc for us to go on our own to test the item?

Otherwise, its very difficult for you to be relying the answers from the supplier - arrange for us to go there and ask all the questions by ourselves lor, less tedious for you.

Have you make a comparison with the brand "Gateman"? If you have not, then you might want to make a comparison and if you are swayed by it, i will be glad to join in the group purchase.

Hi,

The details for the GP as follows:

If 3 sets are purchased. Under the current promotion, each set costs: SGD 624. Under the GP, they are willing to give an additional 5% for the 2nd and third set. Thus the calculation as follows:

Cost of 1st set = $624

Cost of 2nd and 3rd set = $(624*2)*0.95 -> for the additional 5% off

Total = $ (624 + 1185.6) = $1809.60

Thus on 1 set will then cost SGD 603.20.

I agree with this, but the office is opened only during office hours plus Sat its not opened. Thus will make the visit abit difficult.

I think this model: e6098 (come with handle) is not suitable for HDB main door because most of the HDB main door have 2 sets of mortise.

As this model: e6098 come with a handle, therefore you need both hand to open the door.

One hand to turn the e6098 handle (top) and the other hand to press open the original HDB lock (below). :sport-smiley-018:

I believed this $500+ model is more suitable http://www.bioaxxis.com

Why do you still want to keep the original HDB lock? You can replace it with this e6098 mah.

My HDB door got 2 set of mortise.

If I demantle all the two mortises/locks and replace with e6098, how am I going to cover the 2nd empty holes? zz

Oh, you mean you have two locks on the door, one lock with handle and one lock (I supposed) is a deadbolt, akin the bioaxxis one?

Well, you can replace the lock with the handle and leave the deadbolt alone. The latter can serve as an additional security when you are going on long holiday or something.
