  1. Dear EL I've been following this thread over the last couple of days and I must say I think you've handled the questions most professionally; certainly much better than numerous other retailers I've come across on this and other forums. You've demonstrated, to me at least, that EL is a credible and creditable outfit that gives more than two hoots about customer satisfaction. So well done. Some of the questions you've had to deal with have been rather challenging, but I think you've handled them well. Where you've been able to answer them, you did, where you weren't, you apologized and took responsibility, and where errors were made, you attempted to rectify them. And that's really about as much as one can ask or expect of you or EL.
  2. yes. while the increase in the value of the property is only on paper the payment of increased property tax is in real dollars. So how does high property prices benefit a person with only one property..... It doesn't. Unless of course you don't plan on living in Singapore forever and decide instead to cash out and live somewhere else.
  3. Yup. I think the saleswoman isn't be very upfront with you. 230cm probably won't fit in many/most lifts, but should have no problem if using the stairwell. Had the same issue with my sofa. It was too large to fit into the lift and so the deliverymen had to carry it up 10 floors. Paid them an extra 100 dollars for their effort.
  4. Perhaps you could show us a picture of your flooring to highlight what you mean.
  5. the standard clause as far as I know is that you just lose any deposit that you've already given him....it's usually in the range of 500-1000 dollars. I'm not sure how binding that 30% clause is. I can't see any sound justification for him to insist on the 30%. Simply tell him you can't afford to do the renovation any longer. Tell him he's right, you don't have the money, and move on to another company.
  6. Kool. exactly the same colour scheme as my previous home
  7. Isn't there a rule that prohibits you from placing items in common spaces? I think the fire hazard reason is one that is often cited.
  8. You Shld definitely bring it to case if you say the work hasn't been done properly and he's not intending to rectify the faults. It Shld be sop to do a walk thru of the flat before handing it back to u. And when he does all Shld be in order. I had a similar experience wth workers scratching my laminate and my ID made them replace every piece tt was not in perfect condition. As for painting the sides of your console, that's absurd. How much can laminate cost him??! And if the glass pieces were agreed on before hand then insist that he honors it.
  9. Its probably in the ball park. If you're comfortable with the amount and, more importantly, with the person who's going to manage the project for you, then go for it, but ask him for a bit of discount. If you're looking for the cheapest , then take your quote to a half dozen other id firms or contractors and i'm pretty sure that if they bother to give you a quote it'll probably be lower...... if they want the project. Whether they'll do a good job or not ....you'll find out soon enough, I guess. But......the Lowest quote doesn't always yield the best result, in fact, it often doesn't.
  10. haha. there's truth to that indeed. I used to have a dishwasher when I lived overseas and it really works best if you rinse the dishes first before placing them in the dishwasher. I don't know what dishwashers are like these days, but I don't think they've come up with one that scrubs, or have they?
