  1. For 3 weeks only?....hmm, I just shifted to Bedok, my old 3 room flat at whampoa has an empty room, the other is occupied by my mum. Postal Code is 320077. Its very convenient, can reach Bugis/Toa Payoh/Novena MRT. good food at whampoa market. Room is empty except for a sliding door wardrobe. PS: Not sure if my mum wants to rent out my room though...but if you are keen, i can ask her...
  2. Wait, if you are referring to my son, he was sleeping and I was doing laundry and he needed a bathe, so I do all three things at the same time. PS: His clothes is dry now, but he wet his pants during the nap
  3. I bought my duro lock at Selffix DIY shoppe at basement of EastPoint. The prices is the same for all places. Or can take a free ride to parkway parade, 5th floor Selfix also have I got one of that lock there, anyone looking for one let me know.....pleassseeee
  4. If you got the contract with the freebies then you may be out of luck cutting it. If not, then you are in luck. I got my Starhub Mobile on Broadband and as you know, our signals at LG is so bad....I emailed them and starhub tech support tried twice to 'help me', but the ultimate pack I got 7.2Mbps down, 1.9 Mbps up was operating at 2.6 Mbps down and 100k up. I got so fed up that I went to Starhub Support Center at Singapura Plaza to cancel the contract, the support staff gave the usual $500 penalty fee for early termination etc...I cite the technical issues and blah blah blah, they still insist on charging me penalty. Asked for the manager and nicely explained to him that I will talk to CASE and MDA for their false advertisement... 2 days later, manager called me say they will cancel the line without the penalty. For your case, you can cancel it or you can transfer it to someone else. Since Maxonline is easier to transfer, they would probably obliged.
  5. I bought one china made drill for $20 at Carrefour Plaza Sing, it does have the hammer drill or normal drill function. Used it to drill a few holes in the concrete. Don't know if it was the drill bit I bought or the drill, after the 3rd hole, the holes can only penetrate to a certain depth. When pressed harder, the drill bit become loose (ie the 3 jaws seem to be weak in holding the bit even when I clamp it down tightly). Saw the $69 deal at that DIY shop above harbourfront (opposite food court on 3rd level).... With regards to 500W, is that enough power? I saw those B&D 700W ones for $109.....
  6. Hi, There are basically 2 types of locks for the HDB, the old one which is 2 door, so the lock is one single piece. For the newer types which we got, then it is 3 door, so the lock is 2 pieces. There is a joint line where the two pieces comes together, but it is **** almost impossible to saw/drill through.e If you are looking for a single key system, then duro is 'expensive'....the lock itself if sell alone is $108!. Or would you like to get the Chairo 118 which I am selling off here, this one only $78 I bought from the hardware stall at Fengshan market. Both the duro and they Chairo key is BOTH way (meaning keys can be inserted from inside or outside the gate) and can be removed when it is open (so it is way way convenient). If you are getting one, can get the Chairo off me? It's almost brand new, I got it last weekend then found it so convenient that I got the duro this weekend B-)...sell you cheap cheap at a great lost ($58 only)... ha ha If you are talking about the piece I bought, yes, I think it's $108.... If you are talking about replacing the existing one that HDB has, duro does sell a replacement, but it is a thumbler lock same same as the wooden door we have.....I have already emailed duro to see if they have the HDB standard.
  7. I thought of that, but if burglar can get through the first lock, lets say I lost my key, then I would have lost my whole bunch of keys. So different locks doesn't make a difference. The metal gate itself is a different lock, so I still end up with 2 keys
  8. Sigh... My this weekend project was to change all my locks to a single key system. For this, I used http://www.duro.com.sg/duropp.html The main gate lock was successful The letter box lock was successful The bloody main wooden door is a thimble but the duro system provided a deadbolt....arrrghhhh. Now must find out how to change my thimble and main metal gate lock.... Duro system was $228 from one of the selffix DIY shop at Parkway Parade....there was one DIY shop below same block sellinga at $259...
  9. I moved in 2 weekends ago, now into my 3rd Friday here. Day time I am mostly at home during these period, dust is horrible (I am on 5th floor 220B). you got to mop and wipe dust off almost every day. Your feet feels the dust, the new furniture can see one thin layer of dust. I got curtains on, windows fully closed and they still gets in (where air goes, dust goes). 3rd week, dust better because they have completed more or less the garden below me. Noise wise getting less, but high pitch drilling due to renovation is there. It will get worst when Big orange and his gangs at those blocks facing the MRT lines start their renovation, dust will flow downwards towards us. Luckily the wind is pushing towards their side....but those who start in those blocks, low level would feel some additional dust. There are thieves around, mostly the town council workers. Got my bicycle new tail light stolen....sigh...
  10. No durian....no open house My next project is thinking of hooking up my instant water heater to the 'red' line in one of the guest toilet so that when I turn the heater on, I get hot water from the basic tap or the 'down' tap. Seem easy enough, at the top there is this inlet where I guess is also the inlet for storage heater. Don't know if it will work...
  11. The problem with the flushing is due to water level and 'flow' design. For my home, I went to buy one of those 'dual' flush DIY kit and installed it in my guest toilet, so far, both my master and guest performance is on par for wc flushing. But if for small biz, then the dual flush saves water. Cost $25 to $29 Time: 1 day to install, tune
  12. Hello all, I have 15 carton boxes to be given away to fellow LGers, self collect at Bedok Central 220B 5th floor. Completed my shifting. These boxes are from mover 101, but are assorted types, 4 big ones, 3 good solid ones, and about 7 to 8 medium size ones. Self collect weekend Sat or Sun. First come first serve, self transportation needed.
  13. Actually it is the lesser of 2 evils. An extenstion of the SCV point to the long wall cost lets say $100, and the building of the fake wall to lengthen the short wall will cost how $? My setup is the TV on the long wall. When my sofa is here on the 23 or 27, then I can take photo and show.
  14. Have some GUTS!!! Mount the TV on the ceiling. Then do away with the sofa, buy mattresses and lie down while watching the telly!!!
  15. I always wondered is haulage so expensive? Mine was $1K too but I read in this forum (DSA thread)...the town council service is at most $400 plus? Give up the shower doors too...save $500 washing machine base don't need, fridge base maybe, but can also make do with $20 4 pieces of concrete blocks that I had been using at my old house.
  16. As mentioned, I bought one of those DIY dual flush system for $27.50 (price now $29). Fitted it this afternoon in the guest room, seem to be working. I can slide a level to control the half flush volume (minimum is just a trickle of water, max is about 3/4 of our current flush volume). Also can control the full flush volume (about our current flush volume). Only needed to a) Take out the two side white nut, (use hand can loosen) and disconnect the inlet pipe (need a adjustable spanner) b) Take out the whole bowl (HDB glue the back 2 spots with silicon, use a screwdrive to pry loose) c) Loosen the big nut holding the central flush, (keep the black seal at bottom for reuse) d) take out the central flush system, replace with the dual flush system e) Reverse step a to c f) Change the top press button with the dual flush buttons g) Adjust the level of the trigger, h) Adjust the half flush/full flush levels i) test flush j) Check if any leakage k) Keep the old single flush system for emergency refitting Hope I can save money from all those small flushing B-) Now, the next problem is how do I measure how much water is used in the half/full flush....hmmmm
  17. Then I should be on my new bicycle and that cute boy boy is my son lor
  18. No durian no visit..... Mooncake also can......I know some people maybe got some free ones lol. BTW, recommend do NOT use my ID, super headache, super X, super sianz....
  19. I'm doing that everyday already....it's the 3 or 4 bulky ones that MRT absolutely refuse to let me bring onboard.
  20. Shifting stuff from old house to new house soon, anyone got lobang for movers? Or got car/small van/truck can just give a hand? If not I probably have to take a few taxi rides ha ha. (home from whampoa to Bedok). Only shifting 1x computer table (taken apart), 1x baby cot (taken apart), estimate 10 boxes of stuff.....1 heavy HP laser printer.
  21. For glass shelvings, I recommend Hoe Kee, that shopping building between Singapore Post Center (Round building at Paya Lebar MRT) and City Plaza. For this item, it is cash and carry.
  22. Er...bomb shelter can understand, it is supposed to be turned off, just in case the radioactive waves from the nuclear blast gets to you. But at the bottom is the SCV point right? You can always hooked up to the 100Mbps broadband....oh yeah, must bring own generator because the power is out ha ha.
  23. Already did, at http://home.singtel.com/customer_service/c...erv_emailus.asp But I like sparky, bad dog. Oh yeah, is the SCV turned on?
  24. Two discussion for LGers. 1) Our handphone coverage is super bad, I can hardly get 1 or 2 bars from my Singtel or Sparky, I'm at the 220B. How about the others? If there is not enough transmitters, can we all write to the telcos and get them to start the coverage. 2) What is the current per flush usuage of our toilet system? (6 liters of water?). I came across a DIY shop that sells a dual flush system (S$25) which I will try to convert one of my WC to....if successful will update you guys
