I saw two pics and the apartment looked a pretty good buy already! Seems like you can save quite a bit since the core fundamentals are already in place - just need to devote some resources towards having some "standout" features to make your place distinctively yours. You have a good thing going already, that's for sure. cool stuff.

xherion - thanks for your kind words, but honestly my wife regards my banter as verbal diarrhoea. rondy - think the final damage for reno. came up to ard 57k; I added stuff like curtain pelmets etc. along the way and it just added up frighteningly fast! Pinklady - My wife is consistent - she loves to accessorise! you shld see the number of earrings she has. heh.

Hi mumulovenest, The 3Ds are beautiful. Just my own opinion in response to the "missing element" you were wondering of - I think a stylish but understated pendant light above your dining table will help to spice things up a bit. oh yes, looking at your pics again, I recall seeing a clock during one of my home shopping sprees which will fit your theme very nicely (but you may not like my taste la.) I did a modern minimalist theme for my apartment, and always felt that getting a few accessories here and there (i.e. showpiece lightings, art pieces, clocks) help break the monotony somewhat. Key is not to overdo things, but try to fuse these extra purchases into your deco. In any case, hunting for the right pieces can be a really fun process! Look forward to seeing more pics from you!

Cutting COV by half is a superb achievement indeed! I kinda regretted not bargaining harder for mine...sigh...painful sia...
-
I recall the curtain guy saying that can hand-wash, line dry (no machine wash). But best to confirm this again before you get it.
-
Rasp, before I forget - I did managed to measure the width...it's abt 3.25 metres.
-
Man, you are smart! I must say women are often ahead of us men on this one.
-
Yeah, am at St 23, one of the blocks overlooking Bishan Park. Agree - shld do a gathering once everyone's done with reno. and settled in. - Jeffrey

Hi Ashes, the irony is - I am the cook!!! hahaha... anyway, saw your banner which says your big day's 5 mths 10 days away? When exactly? Mine's on 4 Oct (Sun)...seems like our big days' pretty near each other's.

Hi there, the one in the living area's from Molecule at Great World City...kitchen clock from Iwannagohome, also in GWC.
-
Hi Booy, thanks! Let me recall, you are Smartie's wife from Bishan too! As I recall, the resale you bought looked pretty good as it is, so perhaps no need for you to splurge. I recall liking your MBR bathroom and was surprised that you are hacking it up!!! The wall tiles seemed nice and in good condition - reminded me of Angsana Spa in Bintan!

Last pic. entries for this evening, for the benefit of dear brothers/sisters on the forum who have PM-ed me for more close-up pics of... The centrepiece lighting in the living room The spotlights on a track which will illuminate my commissioned art piece (when it arrives) Close-up of the organza curtains (quite dark though, doubt can see the texture properly...paiseh paiseh)

As mentioned in an earlier post, needed an artsy display to fill the gap between the panels of the full height shoe cabinet. Rather redundant to be honest, but since we have unabashedly spotlighted the gap in question...kinda moronic to leave the space vacant. Got this piece made of fossil stone over the weekend. Wife quickly saw the romantic side and gushed that the display piece epitomises the two of us sharing whatever joy (or burden) that may come our way in our journey together. (Incidentally, the piece is quite unimaginatively titled "two man carrying a bowl" by the manufacturer). Me, cynical as usual, mused in response, "eh, the tangible lack of jugs on either of the figurines confirmed that both represent the male gender...kamasutra position somemore so it's **** wrong la...the main deliverable for me is that the centre bowl they are carrying offers a convenient lobang for me to throw my keys in when i get home. Great buy!!" Wife probably couldn't believe she has signed herself up for a lifetime of such irreverent banter.

The Empress Dowager also insisted on having a wall clock in the kitchen..."for what!??!", I protested, "just jolly well take a couple of steps towards the kitchen entrance and the monster "black lotus" clock would be well within view! Anyhow, as with all Empress Dowagers of this world, a decree is a decree. A few days later, I find myself mounting this up, with dutiful obedience.

Was looking around a wee bit for a large clock which can kinda hold its own within my apartment deco and be sufficiently attention-grabbing (since it has to carry a 1.2 m wide strip of wall on its own, next to my TV feature wall). Got this one eventually. The wife was actually quite chuffed that I managed to get it up spot on the position she wanted it to be. Praise be with the Black & Decker hammer drill set.

Hi Smartie/Booy, Just thought I'd say hi to future neighbours in Bishan - I'll be moving into my new place at St 23 over the Labour Day weekend. Reno. just completed 3 weeks back. Your apartment looks to be in pretty superb condition. On COV, the trouble with getting a place in Bishan is this potential huge cash outlay at the onset (which intuitively sucks), but I think at 23k, it definitely qualifies as a good buy! Have fun with the reno. process!
-
Very funky and opulent look; rich in colour and texture. Congrats on your reno. completion!
-
Exciting times indeed! Congratulations! Your place's near Bishan North Shopping Mall I suppose - the lor mee at one of the kopitiam there kinda rocks!
-
Adrian, Your sketches are awesome! (The last time I tried to draw a dog, my wife thought it looked like some devilish creature from H@LL ) And all the best with that Cat. High thingy - good school coupled with sheer convenience for Bishanites!
-
Hi Smallboy, this viewing thingy you have this weekend? is it exclusively for folks who have engaged/thinking of engaging ah soon?
-
Can't remember the exact breakdown, but everything in (roman blinds at WIW, organza curtains ****, dining and a more standard fabric for the empty bedroom) came up to around 2k I recall. Think choice of curtains can come in when you confirm choice of laminates/paint colour and all. Maybe when I go to my new apartment this weekend, I can take more detailed shots of the curtain material for your reference.
-
Now you've piqued my interest to see those versions prior to current subtlety...but I digress... I should be moving in during the Labour Day weekend; wife hasn't really decided (we had our Solemnisation in Jan, but customary's not until Oct). Hence, chances are I will move in a good few weeks before her.

As promised, here's the curtain contact : Shop 8 renovation and Decoration Katong Shopping Centre #02-79 Give Frankie (90094787) a buzz if you would like to check them out. Alternatively, think can always ask Chi Ho to arrange for Frankie to swing by ***** to show you some samples (the guy does curtains for quite a few ***** projects I believe).
-
Hi there, I understand that Chi Ho's one of the bosses now? Mine's Arlene Lim, while her partner assigned to oversee the site/work progress was Raymond. I can't thank them enough for the wonderful job done. Yeah, it's best to contact the ID direct, as opposed to going thru' the ID firm and pretty much leaving it to fate as to the eventual ID assigned. Different IDs under the same firm can turn out to have vastly contrasting modus operandi, for better or worse.

Hi Beany0811, Renovation for my Bishan 5I resale, at St 23 (one of the blocks overlooking bishan park) by ***** was recently completed. I've started a thread ("Modern Minimalist in Bishan") under the Reno T-blog section sharing some pics of the apartment. Feel free to check it out, in case you are considering ***** as well.
