Hi Leolopolisa, There are quite a few types of panasonic filters, most of them are 0.01M which is what I would use. For alkaline water ionziers though, I find the number of plates to be too low 3 plates to be exact for the less that $1K system. The 5 plate system would be $2288 if I am not mistaken. overall if its filtration you are looking for, panasonic wont fail you, as for alkaline water ionizers... that would be for you to compare in even greater depth. Kangen Made in Japan, Sold under MLM costing somewhere around S$4000 - S$5000 Look prehistoric (ancient) imho but some others might like it. Filter price not known.. but dun think it 0.01M like I would like it to be (Kagen is synonymous with alkaline water so everything that says Kagen does not refer to them but alkaline water in general) Chanson Made in Taiwan (Not classified as medical device as Taiwan government does not recognize it as such, therefore no auditing by governmental agencies like Japan or Korea) Sold direct costing high S$1k+ - S$2k+ Looks modern, but internal filter is really small and as such requires an External filter to help it out. = bulky + extra cost Filter price not known.. but dun think it 0.01M like I would like it to be Another thing you would like to compare is the service support that you might get here in Singapore. Lol snappy, The filter from Kemp need no washing, saves time n effort. Changing of the 0.01m filter is roughly 1 year or 6000L (12000L for restaurant) So far filters from Kemp are very affordable if u compared it against other competitors or filter companies. A simple check shows that for a 0.01m at $150 is cheap compared to market standards (around $200 - 250). Go deeper by dividing how much u pay per liter and be surprised. Moreover alkaline ionized water which is good for our bodies as indicated and endorsed by japan and Korean governmental agencies. Hope that helps!

Quite right. Alkaline is only part of the equation for better health. But what kind of alkaline you are putting into your body is EXTREMELY different. I believe I mentioned it somewhere in this forum, but since I have some time to kill before the next meeting, here is a summary. 1) Chemical alkaline = caustic soda (bleach) aka sodium hydroxide , sodium hypochloride etc (kills living creatures such as bugs and humans) 2) Mineral alkaline = Calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate etc (Natural compounds but needs to be broken down into ionic minerals to be any use to the body) 3) Ionic alkaline = Ca2+, Na2+, Mg+, K+ (instant usage by the body as the body does not need to break down any mineral compound) Other benefits such as antioxidant and microclustering are available in water ionizers as well and can be visually seen or tested. Hi Beluga, There are a multitude of benefits of drinking alkaline ionized water. Remember Alkaline water is not equal to ionized water BUT ionized water is definately alkaline. Sounds weird? not really... 1) Ionized water is required to undergo whats called a partial electrolysis which breaks up water clusters and minerals into ionic forms. One side of this will form OH- that attracts +ve minerals such as Ca2+etc. This water now becomes alkaline antioxidant water. And since its void of acidic minerals which comes out of the other side of the system, u get high alkaline levels. 2) Alkaline water.... now simply add anyting from baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to calcium carbonates, the water becomes alkaline... BUT it ionic in nature. The alkalinity is in a compound form. which means 2 things A) Its usless until being broken up into ionic forms B) Its mildly alkaline for the fact that acidic minerals are STILL inside the water (since the acidic minerals are NEVER removed in the 1st place) Now back to benefits, Water ionizers are classified as medical equipments in both Japan and Korea as there have been laboratory tests and clinical trials (human subjects) done to verify the ability of alkaline ionized water. Treatments using alkaline water is directed to what medical practioners call the gastrointestial area. Actually speaking you should disinfect your pitcher cos ants love food rather than look for water. If your family ants still go for your pitcher, it means that their pheromones are still attached to the pitcher = not washed pitcher. Off topic here, I recently bought a ultra high frequency pest management device... Was EXTREMELY skeptical... but guess what... when i kept it on... there was no ants in my place... Until my MIL "borrowed" it... I now have 2 family pet species... One slow moving, the other faster cousin.... wait till I have time... I go get another to chase them out of my house. Cheers!

Hi ZondaR, Its not the price that is the most important, its the filtration size of the product that counts. Always look for something 0.01M to begin with, followed with other benefits if possible such as ionization, alkalinity etc. This thread is full of information which some other forumers and myself have posted. Hi Beluga, They are basically the same as they come from the same group of factories (Japan and Korea. The difference is that Jupiter is not a model its a brand with many models.. while mavello is a model and not a brand. There should be some minor differences so do ask them about it. I used to get confused about these 2 when I bought my 1st machine a while ago. Cheers!

A very simple filter system attached to the tap. Does not indicate how fine the filter is though. I always insist on a 0.01M filtration minimum to get rid of unwanted stuff. Cheers

Hi Mike, Sorry think the forum was having some issue with posting..... Water ionizers work by the principal of splitting up the minerals and water into ionic forms which will then be easier to absorb into our body (we are essentially "ionic charged" people think MATRIX the movie) For that to happen two streams of water will be produced from the system. One will be alkaline (adjustable to higher or lower concentration) while the other acidic (tagged along with the alkaline selection ie the more alkaline = the more acidic) Volume is roughly 2/3 alkaline and 1/3 acidic I always insist on 0.01M to be safer, however if the clogging issue is major then a prefilter will be necessary. Hi Mike, I believe drinkstar originate from malaysia. I did chance upon it in the east sometime ago. apparantly they are doing oem for all kinds of systems, from filter to distillers and anything else in between. I do not think they are manufacturers (Correct me if I am wrong). Price wise, i think they are quite competitive as they remove the actual brand and replace it with their own, but I am not sure their longetivity though. As for the Mavello system, I used it previsously (for 4 years) and if my kitchen allowed (due to space constraint) I would have still used it. Now its with my MIL and its still working after 6 years and not 1 single problem. I am not sure about Kemp online purchases but do give them a call and they will help u through. The water ionizer will have 2 water streams that will simutaneously flow together as it breaks up the water and mineras in to alkaline antioxidant water stream and acidic oxidizing water stream. Considering if you are purchasing for overseas use and there is no support in that particular country, the mavello should suit you fine (based on my experience so far.) Cheers!

HI Honeygal, I think this is a personal experience. I personally experience it only once while my wife tells me its most of the time. One of my friend told me its due to the condition on the body that leads to the taste of the water. I believe there is some truth in it but there should be some more explaination to it. Lol, interesting to put it like that. The body does not work that way. In regards to water, our body will react to infections such as parasites, bacteria, virus or other contaminants in the water. However our bodies will not "Fall sick" if we decide to change to bottled water or tap water (if drinkable) after drinking "Higher class" water types. Hope that helps!

It's part and parcel of extracting or should I say separating the benefits of the water we have. Alkaline water is essentially important for neutralizing and/or balancing our acidic food intake and our lifestyle issues. Water ionizers are classified as medical devices and are used as treatment in certain conditions of the body in both Japan n Korea. Acidic water is essentially used externally to kill bacteria. The troublesome aspects of thinking how to use the acidic water is unfounded. I used it for washing my kids bottles and plates (actually helps save water due to the acidic ability to neutralize soap residue) acidic wate is used for other purposes such as gargling (the Flouride n chloride help prevent tooth decay). There are numerous ways to use them but you will need to cross the barrier of storing the acidic water. Hope that helps

I am not totally sure about the fluoride issue. There are 2 schools of thoughts here, we'll see who will emerge the winner after 1 generation. Canada if I am not wrong is flouride free. In Singapore the concentration is relatively weaker than the limits set by the WHO standards, so I guess is pretty safe. Dogs like other animals seems to be able to thrive in the wild without much interference from human interventions. Not sure why as pet problems start to arise. One possible reason is the food we eat and possibly give them.

Hi Dave, It's really interesting that you would say such a thing. For one very simple reason, filter systems DO NOT filter 100% fluoride. In fact fluoride being the smallest chemical molecule it's very difficult for most filtration system to remove more than 70%. Only distillation n RO systems will provide that 99-100% removal. However there are other issues from this method of filtration which i've covered. Your dogs could have other additional issues that lead to the blackening of teeth. Hope that clears up the air. My 2 kids drank alkaline water since 2 mth old. Everything seems fantastic... Currently they are 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. They hardly fall sick after the body gets the initial virus n bacterial infection. So far they are on a record - free from sickness 6mths and counting! Cheers!

Personally its more stamina & less aches / pains during exercises or training. I personally see that alkalinity in the water will help remove left over lactic acid that was not purged out during warming down / stretching. Could be a placebo but there is an article I found that seems to indicate that as well. Preventing aches & pains that develop due to inflammation of muscle tissue by the lactic acid. I have little ache to none at all after exercise when I consume alkaline ionized water. I tested by reverting back to non alkaline water drinking to test effect n I felt some more ache than before. Again could be placebo but anything to past fitness test right? Been drinking for years n seriously I really feel it works. But u have to try it yourself. Cheers!

Use a good plastic container to contain the acidic water. I prefer a BPA free container. Acidic water is used for many external purpose. You should ask novita how high their acidic water go to.. and what it can be used for. If I am not wrong, different pH can be used for different situation. cheers

Hi mcc, Actually having too much filters will cause poor water pressure. Furthermore this will have more bacteria accumulating in all filters causing the water quality to be moer acidic thus worse than actually better. Because of the ionizer ability to make alkaline water.. you will be prevented from drinking bacteria waste.... but then the acidic side of the water will now not be recommended to be used. Btw the manufacturer is Korean. Hope that helps!
