  1. Was given a Turbo hob by the condo developer. Ignition stopped working after 3 years. Technician could not fix it after coming 3 times and even replacing the entire ignition system for $55. Apparently it "depends on how you use it". So no guarantees even AFTER you have changed the ignition system that it will work or is even safe to use. The ppl at Happiness Pte Ltd are not helpful or courteous or sympathetic. And the service manager told me the technician does not need to be qualified in any way to replace the ignition system. Good luck if you have a Turbo! I have decided to buy a Borch, Electrolux or Elba for safety reasons and better service.
  2. My choices are LED, LCD and Plasma. LED is a good choice because it has the latest display technologies to produce better, brighter colors. But I have to say I didn't like the plastic look on the 40" Samsung but it looks ok on the 46" my sis has - go figure. Go big if you can for LED, I guess. If you are not so picky about the black not being so black or can't tell the difference, LCD is a good buy nowadays cause the prices are falling like crazy. I think you can get a 40" Full HD for under $1.5k Lastly, if you want to chance images burning into the screen, you can go for plasma as it is old technology and being phased out soon so the prices are crazy cheap. Not sure if they have fixed the problem so please ask before you buy. The most important thing you need to ask yourself is what are you going to hook up to your tv? If you need a lot of RCA connections then you should stick to LCD & plasma tvs cause the LED tvs only have 1 RCA connector and the rest are all HDMI. I would recommend Samsung, Panasonic or Sony as there are the top manufacturers. Not sure abt LG.
  3. In a WingTai condo and the developers gave us TURBO hob, hood and microwave oven. It's been 3 years and the hob igniter is not working anymore. When I called the serviceman to take a look I had to pay $42.80 just for him just to come down. Apparently, the spring was rusted and he replaced it no extra charge. But after 2 weeks, it is not working again. It is kind of dangerous to have a hob that is not working properly as there is gas involved. And it doesn't seem like the serviceman knows what is the problem as it is broken again. I am looking to replace the hob as I don't want to inconvenience my tenant any more than I already have. Any recommendations for hobs that is long lasting and worry free? Should I buy from CityGas or Audiohouse or just some generic shop on the street? Thanks in advance...
  4. With all the new condo tower blocks built so close to each other these days, can anyone recommend some window privacy film? I have searched online but can only find solar films and those that can't see in only if there is no light inside - both of which is not what I'm looking for. I would think with the laws in Singapore that punish people who walk around naked in your own home, there would be a big demand for this... Is any company in Singapore selling those that can see out but cannot see in regardless of light in the room? Thanks in advance...
  5. You can get metal storage shelves at IKEA. MUJI also has a nice brushed steel shelf but it's more expensive.
