@ahmiu Hmm I'm not too sure where belongs to who! But initially I wanted it to be at the ceiling outside the flat, but contractor says that area is not ours already, so he suggested to do it at where it is now.

On windows contractor, tried to PM you but I think your inbox is full.

Ok I'll try suggest to my contractor again!

I can't PM you too but I've cleared all the rubbish in my inbox; hopefully can PM now.

Also love your blinds; can suen bian share the vendors? Haha

  2. Aiyar, can't see the photos of the complete reno but based on the prelude, I think I can imagine the rest of your house :)

I wanted to ask if Google Sketchup is easy to use? I've downloaded it and it says I have 30 days to try everything in Pro for free so I'm planning to use it closer to confirming my selection of contractors.

Also, could I have Boon's contact and your reno cost? I wish I could just do everything I want without considering costs so no need to nick and pick! **** tiring la

  3. Finally sat through your whole blog! Took down so many tips (in my little book for reno) and saved a couple of links. Thankyouhamida for sharing so much details!

My current bathroom has those slightly 'rough' surface type of tiles which I think are mostly used outdoors and it's been more than 5yrs and I've never cleaned it once and still looks great. Just wondering if your tiles would need some cleaning every now and then?

Also, how are the shelves of your cupboards doing? For some reason, it fees like my cupboards walls are expanding, and the shelves are hanging barely on the metal stubs (I'm definitely not using this contractor!) Good tip on the internal laminate - will do that for the new place.

  4. Thanks for the headsup!

Heng coz I wanted to consider white flooring - will definitely strike this out unless without tiles.

Not sure if this is relevant, do you think the brick wall deters lizards? I know that there's this old school lizard proofing treatment (makes the walls rough with many dots) but it doesn't work at all. I'm super terrified of lizards and can cause earthquakes if I'm stuck with one!

  5. I've shopped so much on TB that I have to impose a self-ban and thought I'm quite zhai already but your buys really tops the cake! Never thought of shipping back tiles.

Now that you've pointed out the issue with tiles and grout, am thinking twice about wood tiles. How like that?

How much did the post-reno clean up cost? Could you share uncle's contact, or is the same as the generic contacts?

  6. Ive been a room before with one; although with many people inside (about 20-30pax). it doesn't really cool a big room, not only it's very noisy and expensive, you need to put it near a window so you can hang the hose out...otherwise it would be unsightly...

I'm thinking of getting those air coolers instead...cheaper, no need for hose. It won't cool a room and the 'coldness' only last as long as the ice (about 4hrs). Personally it's ok, the most I'll just sit beside it. Hopefully it doesn't consume as much electricity too.

  7. nope i am not asking for customised furniture. and not wood door. me looking for some plank that i need for me to place ontop of the bay windows.

jln besar, diagonally opposite the hawker centre across the field. If you're travelling along jln besar rd towards sim lim, turn left before the hawker centre, you should be able to see the shop at the end of the road.
