  4. I would look at it from the point of view of what has been completed. You have paid 50%. What has been done? Are the things done worth the 50%? If so, maybe you can give him 10% or so before CNY. You can put it in a red packet provided he gives you 2 oranges
  5. Be careful hor...skali one day you come back, the gate is gone

  11. Why not have a roller shutter for your storeroom instead of a door? That way you wont have to worry about which side it swings open. Its just a crazy idea that came to my mind.
  12. yup...they should have minimally a hand-drawn diagram showing the measurements.
  13. I got my aircon from Gain City. The thing about them is that they dont normally do site survey first. So, they just come down on the day of installation to install. Any discussion is done on the spot. What I did was to insist that they send someone to do site survey with my contractor and discuss trunking options. In that way, my contractor will conceal as much trunking as possible. Unfortunately for me, there are still trunking that are exposed. Will live with it by using curtains, false ceilings and painting over. As for the holes, I was onsite on the day of installation to ensure no one screws up. My contractor was there too. After they punch a hole and put in the trunking, they sealed up any holes that can be seen. My contractor's guys also level up the wall around the holes using cement. After painting, it should be fine.
  14. my contractor's carpenter met up with me and sit down to discuss what i want to do. my contractor had initially come out with a hand drawn perspective diagram for reference. what you can do is to tell your carpenter/ID what exactly you want in terms of no. of drawers, etc. measurements can be estimates first. then you can tell him you want to use IKEA drawers. it would be of help to him if you can provide the measurements for the IKEA drawers. he can then figure out how to fit them in and fabricate the cabinet accordingly. thats what i did, except mine are Blum drawers. i did a rough sketch, and he took measurements of my oven, hob and sink and came up with a simple but easy to understand diagram. if your ID dont understand, get him to arrange a meeting for you with his carpenter.
  15. typo...heheehe....i meant less than $20.
  16. its subjective....cost wise, they shld be getting more or less the same supplier discount from Blum. so it all depends on how much savings they pass on to you. also, your satisfaction on their service.
  17. HDB website says that appliance with electrical rating exceeding 15A is not allowed in HDB. 20A isolator is only allowed for air conditioner installation. I had to change my mind about my oven coz it was rated 16A. In the end I bought one with a 13A rating.
  18. ann, mine look like the ones feimei showed in the pics. mine goes like this: - single power socket (x14) - dual power socket (x4) - 1 gang switch (x4) - 2 gang switch (x2) - 3 gang switch (x3) - LED switch (x4) - 2 heaters, oven, hob/hood - tel socket (x4) - SCV socket (x4) - door bell switch (x1) all faceplates....the backing all provided by electrician. aircon isolator is separately provided by contractor/electrician...cost less than $200 i think
  19. I agree with you on this one....if they are cheap, they might cut corners, worse still if you cant see those corners that they cut. I agree with this too. They need to earn a living. I am fine with it. But if they are going to chop carrot me, they will be in for a hard time man....
  20. long time back, they dont allow boxing up of pipes in the bathrooms. then for the newer flats, they start boxing up pipes...and now you can box up your pipes. it wont be long before they allow power points in the bathroom. but personally, i dont like the idea of power points in the bathroom. its a great risk.
  21. I had a great experience with a sales guy from HN Suntec....over a span of 4 weeks, I ended buying a fridge, hob, hood, oven from him. I went back to him because his service is good even though there is no guarantee I will buy anything or from him for that matter. He even helped me change the delivery dates, called suppliers of various brands to check on specific queries that i have that he cant answer. Too bad I dont hv anything else to buy from there for the time being....
  22. There are 3 actually....the one in Upper Bt Timah, the one in Upper Thomson and the one I bought from...which is Viborg....they hv 2 branches, one in Kranji and another in Admiralty...
  23. Ann, for heater, typically the switch is like a 1 gang switch with light. mine cost less than $5 each. i got 4 of that for oven, 2 heaters and hob/hood, for aircon, there is an isolator, but its provided by my contractor. that one normally rectangular in shape n sits outside your home. i got my clipsal switches at Choo Chiang in Toh Guan. went there on a sunday morning....not many pple....easier to talk wif the staff
