  1. Found some nice & interesting bits of deco while overseas. Sharing one of them here first...Our "updated" entrance to the kitchen. I think almost everything in the photo, from the pictures on the wall to the clothe on the table is from either Europe or Japan. Only the wine is probably from Sg, a gift from kru for some help I offered earlier
  2. Been busy sprucing up the home. Did some graphic works to the photos I took...so far only have time to do 2 of them. Still looking for some pieces of furniture~
  3. hi yhanie, congratulations on starting your reno today. Wishing you a smooth journey ahead. cheers
  4. Hihi, for those looking up to renovate their home, I would like to recommend Ideal House's Peter Tan. He has 20-30 years of experience and did a very professional job for my renovation recently. After talking to many IDs, we inked the deal with Peter on 24th June this year. And understanding my tight schedule, works started merely 2 weeks later on 7th July and completed on 14th August. For those who want good workmanship, excellent follow-up and advice, I would surely recommend. Do check out my renovation blog at jyyj.vox.com where I kept an almost day of day update of the progress, and photos of the completed home. Or for photos only, you can see here http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23604
  5. Hihi yhanie & satinchris. yhanie, you are asking about the price I bought the flat? Hey kru, nice to see you here. Oh yea just remembered you somehow got to see my flat before it was renovated. Yes I am happy now that the reno is completed and to my liking. It had been so hectic then, I needed the job to be done so fast when the hacking started, I've not chosen my tiles, laminates & paint yet. Yea I have your number, will surely invite you over some day Keep in touch!
  6. Hi Xebay, thanks. Hrm, well, I did consider getting a condo first. Why? Only because I feel I am one who will make full use of its facilities. Personally I like swimming, and the availability of a swimming pool at your door step is my reason for staying in one. Saying that however, I cannot afford one. Feel that HDB flats have come quite a long way. I like the flats that are not so old, and not so new. Feel that those flats around 5-10yrs old make better design sense, and when well renovated, interior may not make such a big difference as compared to a condo ya. Thank you pinkpetter for your comments. I'm honoured to have a Super Platinum member post here. As I've shared earlier, have learnt a lot reading all your posts, and surely your name appears often.
  7. Hi beany, my home is near Admiralty MRT side, 685 series. My wife left for overseas for work trip after we came back from holiday! So awaiting her return before we move in. And we wish to do it as soon as possible. New home much to do ya! Hihi blue_diamond, rondy & adrian, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Good day to you.
  8. Ynove, I see. I back tracked your thread & saw the things u wanted to do. IMO, it's better to get a contractor to help in some things, because it may be really difficut to coordinate. No harm getting a quote. Some things u can do independently, like painting, etc (will take closer look at ur list again cos I'm using hp.) If I'm not wrong, $350 for 15whpa is for the fancy glass design mounted in front of your bathroom window, w/o need to replace or remove existing window. If i'm not wrong, they help you with electrical wiring too that's why. You can bring design to contractor to ask for similar design quote. But if the fan sells for $120 (I'm still not sure), it's $230 for glass, wiring & installation. Probably contractor can do a little cheaper.
  9. Hi ynove, I don't have my receipt with my now, I have the 15WHPA but its definitely not so expensive. I bought it at a home fair where they had a promotion. Should be around $120? What happened was that when I called them though their website listed phone no. and asked them where to purchase one, the friendly staff told me not to buy first and wait for the fair. Are you only considering KDK ceiling fans and no other brands?
  10. Hi michletom, thank you. I believe you can get a home like this too, why not? Finally back from holiday. Now house is under the knife for 2 days to do some rectification works. My ID is getting down to his knees personally (for real) to help me take away some red wine stain in my living room tile grout when a bottle of wine accidentally fell off the floor. Respect! 1 more week to moving in...still waiting for my study table & chair. And need to buy a rug & coffee table still, if I can find a nice one. Hope to share more photos with you~
  11. hihi Pinklady, hrm..yup, will take some photos inside. But it is a simple white wardrobe behind, nothing fanciful. I'm still overseas, when I get home next week, will take a few more photos to share.
  12. Hihi Ivy, p3nguins, coffee_o & beany0811, thank you for your compliments~ Yes, we wanted the resort feel, but in the end, I think its a mix of everything.. Quite a relief the reno is over (for now), I guess many ppl have such a feeling too. When my wife & I are back from holiday, will take some interesting bits of the reno to share.
  13. Hi fellow forumers, Been using this forum as a great help for my wife's & my new home renovation. Its a re-sale 5 room in Woodlands. Finally completed 2 weeks back. A superb job done by Peter of Ideal House. Here's sharing the photos with all of you~ The Master Bedroom The Walk-in Wardrobe The MBR Toilet The Study Room The Living Room The Kitchen (by previous owner) For more photos and the entire renovation process, do feel free to drop by our reno blog @ jyyj.vox.com Cheers~
  14. Prices can indeed range from $20 to $50, there is really no standard price because all the PLC lights come in different sizes, casing made with different material (whether spray painted, powder coated), different types of wiring insulation, different grade of bulb fittings, different ways to open/close the PLC, and comes with different bulbs & balast.. even the reflective material inside have different grades of 'reflectiveness' if you wish to go into details.. It is difficult for us end consumers to really know which is better, the best is to go to a few shops, or as many as you can, hold the PLC in your hands and take a look, find something you like and use this as a comparison with other shops~
  15. Jovan JH25 with energy saving should be at $230. I got 2 shops quoting me that price, in the end I bought from Everjoint because I was buying other stuff. both storage & instant water heater have their own pros & cons, its a matter of what you want~
  16. Hi, can someone PM me Mr Chew's contact? Thank you very much!
