i almost bought from ALLBEST! i was quoted by gc, $2739 for sys 3 inverter with free extended warranty-5yrs. got to pay additional: $180 to upgrade 3 rms pipping to armaflex $85 for 2 times installation (1 time install piping, 2nd time install air con unit) is this reasonable? they gave me an option to go for system 4 inverter at $3729 with free extended warranty-5yrs. PLUS to pay the additional item as above... any advice if this is good deal?

is it possible to have M16 LED 3x to replace downlight...?

thanks for the info lipton..! sory just confused, do u mean screw on downlight has a shorter lifespan? actually i was looking at those downlight that does not cover with cover. even with 1 bulb, it is already quite bright. am i right to say that, if i dun mind the design, if i take those downlight with no cover, the brightness will not lose out to those downlight with cover n 2 bulbs?

yes i agree with joemit7850! their price is reasonable. oh yes, i really hate those lighting shops that practically uses their eyes to 'screen customers' often not much sales person like to attend to me cus i really wear very casual... but i prefer that.. cus i dun like people to follow me all over when i am looking at the lights.. ahah... so in the search of lights... but i just felt that the lights in singapore, design are very much the same... anywhere can get more unique lights??

hi, me me! me ex house done by him in 2004. actually it depends on what kind of defects. for tiles, usually u can spot already once finished reno. eg. hollow tiles. which u got to check one by one. cus hollow tiles will in time warp and causes problems. for carpentry, mus ensure he uses solid plywood and NOT mdf. which so far i saw some of the ah soon houses (i very kiasu, i seen 3 ah soon houses before i commit), the wood is solid ply... also must get to choose good laminate. those got brand like edl, etc... what he did for me last time- my complaint is 2 hollow tiles. which i can't really blame him cus i didn't check n i was rushing to move in for cny... (being a newbie last time) ah soon told me that group of tilers already left him... so now my eyes are very sharp on the tiles... cus he changed the whole house homo tiles for me, workmanship he charge me only $XXX, tiles i take myself from my friend. even so, that time his installer install the mirror n toilet accessories not to my preference -cus he didn't ask me where to place, he hack away all the tiles affected n replace new ones--because of the drill hole on the tiles i told him i cannot accept. he did it without any hard feelings -n rectify on the spot for him. this is the reason i went back to him, cus at least i know anything i am not satisfied, he will rectify for me. if i have discovered the hollow tiles during then, i am sure he will change it for me. (my hubby friend who did reno from ID company, also got hollow tiles -- REFUSED to change and only give discount). for me, no way. i dun want discount, i want the tiles to be changed. other than that, he is ok. like now, i will ask him what brand of laminates is he giving me. cut corners, like if u go ID company, when they say kitchen wall tiles, do they do the whole area or only the exposed area? (ie.area that has kitchen cabinet will not have tiles)... don't be surprised, 95% of the ID company i approached, only do the wall tiles at exposed area. for uncle, he did the whole area for me.... defect is bound to have, what matters is, is the person responsible enough to rectify it..? also, forumers like ivy, pinkpetter, etc had renovated with him.. i think they can share with alot...cus most of the defect can surface within a year! if more than that , have to take wear n tear into consideration also...

hi black, well noted on your pointers. i think after engaging ah soon, i also became so busy that i missed out reading some msgs in the thread..hahah.... for your carpentry design, it was a pity the people doing it for u didnt realize it...! any way to rectify? is ace flooring that bad? cus i have a big laminate plattform in my master room...maybe i should opt for other brands? the shower screen, i can ask for how high? i realize nowadays the shower heads esp.the rain shower all are very tall and hence u r rite, should ask for a higher showerscreen height, but how high should it be? yes i am changing all my rooms door. i am going to ask ah soon is he quoting me hollow or solid.

hi ivy n black , was quite upset when i see some of my tiles not done well, but ah soon assured me all the tiles not meeting my standard, he will 'HACK & REPLACE NEW TILES''. i have some high standards cus i feel that i m going to live in this house for the rest of at least 5-10 yrs... i would hate to see a defect for the rest of the 5-10yrs right in front of my eyes... think ah soon also scared of me... but luckily he didn't try to avoid or ask me to "close one eye". i shall see the end result.. hopefully will be a good ending

honestly i felt to ask for refund is quite hard... cus the item is done just got to do rectification... i think u give him one last chance to make up for it... what u think? i heard him telling me ur house renovation is very nice.. so can share with me besides this, is there any other thing not done well? so that i can keep a look out on my hosue? thanks

when i reach there (i was late), he already left my house. i call him, he also never answer my call. so i sms him in chinese about ur case, he immediately call me back and ask me about it. seems like he forgotten about u! my opinoin is, make sure your vanity is not affected in anyway, if it is, ask him to replace one for u. cus he delayed it... most importantly, he must fix the items for u... no doubt u really went tru this much to get it done... if there is anything u need my help, let me know!

hi black.. i hear ur frustrations! me too .. even in the midst of renovation.. i already kena fly aeroplane many times.. also my house has alot of modification so alot more co-ordination work to do. i heard he got 10 over project on hand, i think he is really overloaded... n also, poor time management...!! imagine when he meet us, his phone will never stop ringing!! yeah u shouldn't have paid him the last payment, u are very nice person... but i dun think ah soon take u for granted.... ur house is at what area? i can help to send him a chinese sms to respond to u? normally he respond to my chinese sms... dun angry, things can be solved.. no matter what! he told me before, business from internet he scared to offend also...

hi i would like to ask, does it mean those screw on downlight does not require ballast? will the bulb last without the use of ballast?

actually i feel, better to get the person to go to ur house n give a confirm quote..to avoid any hidden cost..

just to share, my friend recently engaged a famous ID firm to renovate. he is the type he can afford to pay for quality n assurance.. but end up it was a terrible nightmare. no 3d drawing given (as promised in contract), id never go to site, everything was co-ordinated by my friend. for all these, he is paying $10K more than market price. i think if he find ah soon to do, the diffference would have been 15-18k he is paying 36K for his 3room (living halls & bedroom tile NO hack or retile!) only kitchen n 2 toilet tiles, some ceiling work n feature wall w tv console. NO wardrobe. when he look at my 38K for the whole revamp of my 5rm, he almost fainted. i told him he will need to do alot of co-ordination n being fly aeroplane.. he says (which i think is very true).. 'he don't mind doing the co-ordination n being fly aeroplane if the savings is a good 10-15K.' he paid more (for ID) but still get all the PROBLEMS n worst, the id leave it to him to talk to the works n settle with them directly...!!! actually i have seen some ah soon carpentry work, workmanship is not bad! as compared to those i saw who claim they are direct carpenter... in fact i even went to their factory to see their work... ah soon one is better!! if compare to IDs, ah soon one still got some standard!! but like what all others said, u must follow up really closely..
